KASPER SCHMEICHEL is on course for his 112th international appearance when Denmark face Portugal in their Nations League quarter-final double-header.
The 38-year-old Celtic keeper has been called up for action by manager Brian Riemer for the first game in Copenhagen a week today and the return in Lisbon three days later.
Schmeichel, a worthy successor to Joe Hart at the Hoops after joining on a free transfer from Belgian side Anderlecht in the summer, has played 46 games for the champions in his debut campaign.
HAMPDEN HERO…Kasper Schmeichel proudly displays his first honour at Celtic, the Premier Sports League Cup, after his crucial save in the penalty-kick shoot-out.
The evergreen netminder, who recently signed a 12-month extension to his Parkhead contract, has missed just one encounter – the 5-0 Scottish Cup win over Raith Rovers where understudy Viljama Sinisalo made his debut following his £1million arrival from Aston Villa in July.
Schmeichel will be joined in the Danish squad with Leicester City’s Mads Hermansen and Philip Jorgensen, of Chelsea.
