Scot Gov wants to talk about Celtic, not the deaths

427

If you want to criticise Celtic for taking a January holiday while the country suffers and you have been stuck at home for 10 months, go for it, there’s acres of space below.  The football bubble is difficult to reconcile when people are currently falling ill and dying in such numbers, the optics are poor; Celtic, really?

But if you are responsible for setting the rules of the football bubble, like the Scottish Government are, you are responsible for what is permitted within that bubble.

If you gave specific permission for Celtic’s trip to Dubai, like the Scottish Government did, you and you alone have no right to issue PR statements of condemnation.

This contrasts with the Scottish Government’s congratulatory comments for Newco after punishing their players who broke bubble rules, a marked contrast to their reaction after Celtic punished Boli Bolingoli.

I get that this Government is a world leader at PR, that their leader appears to spend much of her day preparing and delivering her message of PR brilliance and that they effortlessly dig into Celtic without self-awareness.

And I know this is a lot easier than their day job, like deciding whether to send infected patients to care homes or not, running an education system, controlling a police force who witness sectarian crime without concern, and ensuring NHS hospitals do not have to issue statements of regret after poor cleaning-related deaths.

All this magnificent PR keeps eyes away from how that day job is being performed.  Scotland has a death rate higher than all but six countries in the world, including countries run by incompetent fools, like the rest of the UK – who we continue to shadow for inexplicable reasons – and the US.

Your government wants people to talk about Celtic, not look at the death count.  The former is embarrassing and the latter is worse only in Peru, Belgium, Italy and three former Yugoslav countries.  I am not part of this cult.

I apologise for responding to your post above. I’ve just realised that you were the guy who accused me of making a ‘hateful post’ about you a couple of weeks ago after you had used another poster’s bereavement to make a cheap point. I won’t be discussing anything further with you.

Only two events have changed our views on this, and the worsening of the Covid pandemic is not one of them.

    ——————————————————————-

I’m sorry but you don’t get to tell me what has changed my views, how dare you.

For the record yes I’m raging at the sheer stupidity of the club but I couldn’t give a toss about the Ibrox defeat.

Any other year I’m delighted when our club go on these trips because I’m a big believer that these trips are great for morale and team building, anything that improves our performance gets a big thumb up from me👍 but in the middle of a pandemic when the full country is locked up can’t visit family, cant attend family funerals.?

You were also correct back in November I didn’t care , why should I the situation was constantly changing I’m naively thinking the club would do the correct thing.

On the 20th December it was announced that there was a complete lockdown starting boxing day for 3 weeks. That was Celtic’s cue to cancel.

Which arrogant stupid idiot decided that doesn’t apply to us? Find him and sack him.

  5. Hi all – hope you’re all staying safe.

We’re in the middle of a pandemic that’s claimed 1,874,318 lives so far.

These poor people had hopes, ambitions, jobs, loved ones & maybe even hated ones but they’re all gone forever.

Get yourself tested & if you can – and vaccinated when it’s available. Try to ignore people who claim that it’s not that bad, or the vaccine’s a Microsoft plot or that some other aspect of it is a lie & being exaggerated for reasons of world domination or some such nonsense.

The Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test was invented in 1985 by Bio-Chemist Dr Kary Mullis who died on August 7, 2019. You’ll note that this is 4 months before the virus had even appeared in Wuhan, China and was initially being identified as a strain of pneumonia.

The claim from some that Dr Mullis had stated that the PCR test is not suitable for testing for Covid-19 is false. In 1996, in an article about AIDS & HIV the author, John Lauritsen, suggested that PCR tests are not effective in relation to AIDS & HIV. He made no mention of Covid-19 either. Here’s a link to that article

    http://www.virusmyth.org/aids/hiv/jlprotease.htm

These allegations have been fact checked several times & discredited every time – but it hasn’t prevented the lie being repeated. Think it was Mark Twain who said that “the lie is halfway round the world before the truth has got his ants on”.

Here’s one such fact checking article.

    https://www.reuters.com/article/uk-factcheck-pcr/fact-check-inventor-of-method-used-to-test-for-covid-19-didnt-say-it-cant-be-used-in-virus-detection-idUSKBN24420X

Get tested, get vaccinated & when this is all over we’ll still be here talking mince – about Celtic.

    Stay safe & HH

You seem to have a different basic knowledge about vaccines from me. You downplay their significance claiming they won’t cure Cid 19. Of course not, no one ever claimed that except someone who doesn’t understand the science behind vaccines. There are no cures for viral infections. But vaccines do prevent them from replicating and spreading inflammation with all the resultant symptoms. You say “if you actually read the small print from the pharma co’s about their vaccine, it kinda tells you that all the vaccine does is relieve the symptoms, no more than that” so you’ve read that? Show me that – take a picture and post it here. Vaccines don’t relieve the symptoms, they prevent them arising by preventing the virus from replicating and causing inflammation. Let’s be civil. Point out where i’ve misrepresented you if I have and do post the info from pharma cos.

An Tearman, thanks, the Celtic shareholding is a very dry debate but while we are questioning executive decision making, understanding how, why and where? Our decsion makers originate their power and implement it is crucial.

Auldheid, I’m not sure if you saw the debate on shareholding earlier in the thread but I quoted from 2005…

“As part of the Stock Exchange announcement, the board also announced its intention to de-list from the London Stock Exchange and transfer its listings to AIM to take advantage of the greater flexibility of its rules

Maybe the reason the Board don’t have to share with us information pertaining to the “Company’s best interests”!?

    CORNELIUS @ 1:44 AM,

Sound logical approach as ever. We need to be dealing with the day to day practicalities of living through a pandemic.

In the middle of last year a women joined our staff suffering from PTSD, she was at a home where a large proportion of residents died during the early Covid-19 outbreak, she whistle blew and went through a very unpleasant time because of it. She seems happy now working in a professional environment and got a lot of support from colleagues.

We need to take a very professional and considered approach to this pandemic.

  10. Sturgeon at the start of this lockdown situation In march tried to save the job of her chief medical officer who had twice broken travel restrictions to go to her second home in anstruther on two separate weekends, she had to get rid of her as the press savaged her on the situation, this trip was agreed it should have been reviewed but no rules are broken, she knows it and now she is trying to make it about conduct while away.

Ms sturgeon deal with your Police Force when they are witnessing racist abuse and do nothing.

  17. Paul some of us don’t want to be North Brits and would prefer an independent Scotland. Only the orange order seem to have as much hatred of the SNP than you. The SNP may have disrupted Celtic plc business holdings for a bit but it had nothing to do with our football collapse this year. The players, then the manager and the board own this. Not the govt issue. Don’t get your lead at all here. Hail Hail

  18. Not agreeing with every single thing the SNP do, does not make you a noth brit or any less Scottish than you.

  19. I too would much prefer Scotland to be independent just not under Nicola Sturgeon.

I would prefer any Government to run public services properly for all, doesnt matter the colour of the rosette, start with Police Scotland, if you want to be taken seriously make Zero tolerance of racist abuse sectarian abuse an offence for which you will be arrested for and prosecuted, if they have this standard already they do not uphold it as we have seen on Edminston Drive on the 2nd of January 2021 in full view of Police Scotland.

Really sorry to hear about your health, glad it’s improving for now.

Christmas day was as good as could be hoped for.

The young lady had us up at 4.45!!!, That’s the magic of it all. I love it.

My own health took a major dip, Boxing day till Hogmanay, the really cold weather, I reckon. My oldest goes on to MCAS Facebook and the vast majority were all saying they were ill because of it. Any way last few days, I’ve been good, relatively speaking.

The birds, I’m still puting bird seed and grapes out every morning, you get all sorts this time of year.

I’ve been here 13 years and fours days in row, from Hogmanay, a song thrush came in, for the grapes, that’s a first for my garden. They usually just skulk about in the undergrowth, hedges etc.

From what I can gather those who can work from home should and those who can’t (like the ones you mention) can/should go to their work as usual. They don’t have to be key workers.

It’s all a bit half hearted and probably won’t be very effective.

(and i’m not belittling anyone’s bad experiences thus far – i’ve had family members and colleagues test +ve)

    it doesnt make you immune

you can possibly catch it a second time

you can pass it on even when vaccinated

    ……………………………

Just saw that you put out food for the birds. I’ve got a tree in the back garden and have a number of feeders on it. I put out seed, suet balls, suet cake and peanuts. Get a lot of different birds at the feeders, blue tits, coal tits, robins, sparrows, blackbirds and the usual variety of crows. Be careful what you wish for from the song thrushes. About 20 or so of them started visiting the tree during the summer months. I was very excited when they first appeared. They are absolutely voracious eaters and behave like a gang. They were like locusts and my feeders were empty within about 36 hours. The local squirrel was none too happy either. 🤣

  31. Norriem. 10.11

Morning Norrie, I hope you are well.

I agree with all of your post, I would like to add a bit.

The MSM, in this country, are disgraceful.

They ask the questions, now N.S. answers, are, for me, all deflection away from the job her Gov are doing and she obviously see ‘s Celtic as an easy target.

Their P.R. mucked up by initially saying the trip, should be looked into, then when Celtic batted that back, saying they had given permission, they moved goalposts to saying pictures needed looked at.

Where the MSM come into it, are they didn’t go into any depth with her about Arfield’s party, Rangers playing a friendly without test results being returned in time.

These are Covid related too, that’s what the press conferences are for, but as ever damned by their silence.
