‘SCOTLAND MUST REMAIN POSITIVE,’ FORREST
CELTIC winger James Forrest believes there will be some interesting outcomes during Scotland’s World Cup qualifying campaign.
Gordon Strachan’s squad are preparing for their third Group F clash tomorrow night in Slovakia just four days after being held to a drab 1-1 draw by Lithuania at Hampden.
The Hoops attacker, who came on as a second-half substitute for £13million man Oliver Burke on Saturday, accepted the Tartan Army would be disappointment , particularly after the 5-1 opening day win over Malta.
Forrest said: “You need to look on the positives. We have four points and have not been beaten. There is still a long way to go and I think there are a few upsets in the group still to come.
“Hopefully, we can get a good result on Tuesday and the boys will be confident. At home and in front of this crowd, you are expected to win and we didn’t do that.
“The last 10 minutes we looked like scoring goals and it was just unfortunate that we drew, but we will take some confidence into the next game.
“We have only played two games and we have four points and we need to try and build on that.
“Every game in this group is going to be tough. The game on Tuesday is going to be a hard one and the boys are going to have to be at it from the start.”
Both Forrest and Leigh Griffiths came in for criticism for failing to take the chance each of them had after coming on as second half substitutes as Scotland were forced to chase the game.
The other side of that argument is that had Gordon Strachan started with the Celtic players then maybe he wouldn’t have had to chase a late goal to grab a point against LITHUANIA!
