Scott Allan was whisked away from Dundee United as a 19-year-old with only four starts under his belt. At the time there was a great deal of annoyance that a promising Scottish talent was lost to our game almost before he started.
West Brom harvested him, but never gave him a game. He went on loan to Portsmouth (15 starts), MK Dons (2 starts) and Birmingham (another 2 starts), before transferring to Hibernian last summer. Performances for Hibs made him a standout for those who follow lower league football; Player of the Year material.
The most striking part of this deal is the cost, a reported £275k, plus Dylan McGeough, who Hibs had on loan last season and who was unlikely to ever force himself into contention at Celtic. It’s cheap. A cheap signing for Celtic, a cheap player for Hibs to sell. Gone are the days of £4m midfield players moving from Easter Road to Celtic. The price was determined by the competition (there is only one team in Scotland who can put anything like that kind of money down on a player. HP deals have limited appeal).
What he is to Ronny Deila, is a canvas. Scott will go through the most intense few months of his career, starting Monday morning. He will get his opportunity to show what he can do. Every conceivable performance metric will be measured. And the measurements will improve.
Can’t wait to see him in a Celtic shirt, I’ve heard so much about how good he is for months……..
Welcome to Celtic, Scott.

My feelings exactly, glad a few of us aren’t dismissing Liam but glad Ronny seems to want him in his plans long term
@88CELTIC88: who would have thought that this amount of zombie bigot pain from the depths of hell only cost 275k ……..

GREAT DAY! :o(
Henrik interview with Tom English was on Radio Scotland 8pm tonight (Friday) 45 minutes.
You’ll find it on I player I guess
What is the average age of our squad/team? Just curious.
Welcome Scott, do your best in the Hoops is all I ask.
Winning Captains/Paul67- site is starting to work better for me across loads of different platforms now. Well done for all the hard work in the background.
Having said that…. I left my phone in Kinlochleven ( sounds like an old Scottish ballad or C&W tune) on Tuesday but will be reunited with it tomorrow. Apols to anyone trying to get in touch.
Leftclick – Mr Celtic tonight!

Spheyside Lad
My son and I wore the Hoops to see Noel Gallagher in Benicassim. There were a couple of hundred Tims there with the same idea that night. Amazing the influence our club has on the Scottish, Irish,Welsh,English,Spanish,Polish and Croatians I met that night in the Hoops at a Rock Festival in Spain. Not one zombie shirt witnessed the whole four days. Why?

Apart from a GIRFUY to the Zombies, is this guy any good and is he what we need?
I’ve no idea of his ability or position as I don’t watch lower league football.
DD- cos they were waiting to get “Allan’ printed on their taps?
Dallas
Will be quiet with the boss away. But no wild parties planned …. and probably not even much takeway … bought some sweetbreads, so maybe I’ll cook them up tonight, with a grilled caesar salad …. and then take the ghirl (four legged kind) for a walk down by the lake…. I am getting old and boring!
laughed at your pape comment … I have a few friends who came for a visit and were chuffed when they saw the name as well! more than a few photos taken there over the years!
I was posting on the last thread myself for the past 10 minutes.
Thought you had all gone to bed.
This new CQN set up is pants.
Liam is a quality left MF.
Why bother with Lennoxtown ?
Lets just invest in the Dundee Utd and Hibs youth teams.
good new on LH … think he will be a top player in a few years…. this season, a regular game with Hibs will do him good.

Were we tracking him ? What position will he play ?
Something not right here.
