Scott Brown not the only one worried about manager

1266

Scott Brown was not the only one was briefly worried about Neil Lennon’s position in recent months.  Neil has never particularly hidden his desire to work in England one day but when it became evident that there would be a few seats available in the English top flight, with the Everton job in particular becoming available, I am sure there were a few nervous twitches.

As and when Neil decides he is going to move on, Celtic will want to have a plan for succession in place, if not entirely executed.  In May, when Neil was fielding questions about moving on, I doubt any succession planning had taken place.  Some at the club would have been looking forward to a summer break and some player trading.  The prospect of finding a new manager, with all the inherent consequences for trading, preseason planning and Champions League qualification, would have caused mild panic.

Always be prepared.

How is your 1254125 work coming along?  Not started yet?  Today, Tom Conniffe completes his 125 mile walk along the Leeds-Liverpool canal.  Go look and see how well his fundraising has gone (and get involved if you can).

  1. Top of the morning to you all from a blustery Fife.

I see that the police officer at the centre of the Nuns trial that collapsed because of the “Union Bears” Rangers logo she carried was also charged with an anti-Irish racist assault.

I think she will end up with The Strathclyde Police FoCUS Team she would fit in perfectly!

    Sunday Mail, 30 June 2013

    Nuns trial cop faces questions

Police chiefs are investigating the conduct of an officer asked to probe claims that nuns abused children in their care.

The sisters were cleared by a jury last month of beating eight victims at Dalbeth resi¬dential school in Renfrewshire in the 60s and 70s.

Lawyers claim investigating officer Detective Constable Lesley McAuley broke rules by putting alleged victims in touch with each other and encouraging them to sue the Catholic Church.

McAuley’s behaviour was described in court by one colleague, DC Moira Fyffe, as “highly unprofessional”.

Victims believe McAuley’s conduct damaged their case.

Their lawyer, CameronFyfe, said: “Our concern is that the difficulties involving the officer may not only have reflected on the case, but they may also affect any opportunity alleged victims may now have for criminal injuries claims.”

Nuns Anne Kenny, 79, known as Mother Rosaria, and Agnes Reville, 77, known as Mother Martin, stood trial at Paisley Sheriff Court.

Defence lawyers highlighted a row where DC McAuley was accused of wearing a “No Surrender” badge at a Rangers match. The alleged incident occurred after she was assigned to the case.

It also emerged that DC McAuley, who could not give evidence because of sickness, is facing a racially aggravated assault charge following an alleged incident with an Irish woman last year.

Police said: “We have received a complaint which will be fully investigated.”

Imagine William Boyne had called for an end of Catholic schooling when he visited Belfast, citing it as being divisive.

Ole Barack has never hidden the fact he is a Muslim, so why is he coming across and trying to bridge the New Age gap with more divisiveness.

  12. From say no to new club…

    Time To Get Organised

SayNoToSameClub is committed to forcing the Scottish Football Association to confront the truth of the liquidation of Rangers Football Club (1872) and end the deception that the current Rangers FC is a club founded in the Victorian era.

The problem we have is that so far, the SFA has shown an unwillingness to engage with the fans in relation to the new club playing out of Ibrox. Short of UEFA intervention, which I believe is unlikely to come, only sheer weight of numbers can force the SFA’s hand.

This site will continue to hammer home the point that Rangers is a new club but the time is now upon us to carry this fight to the SFA in deed as well as word.

To that end, SayNoToSameClub is opening a membership book, with a view to properly organising a campaign.

If you would like to join SayNoToSameClub, send an email to saynotosameclub@yahoo.com.

Initially, we’re asking only for people who follow the twitter account (not you Bryce!) whose account has been active for at least one month, or who can be vouched for by same. Please include your twitter username in the email, as well as your name and location (full address not necessary at this time).

We will then follow and DM you to confirm your membership.

Contrary to rumour amongst our Sevco-supporting contributors, we are fitting this around a full-time jobs, so it may take a day or two before you receive a DM asking you to confirm your membership.

If enough of you indicate a willingness and a committment to get involved, we can then move towards a meeting to elect a committee and draw up a Constitution setting out our aims.

If we can get to that stage, we can begin to plan the necessary steps to bring pressure to bear on the Scottish Football Association.

The SFA can ignore us all individually, they’ll find it far more difficult to ignore a large, organised, committed group of Scottish football fans who will not accept a 12 month old club bragging about their 140 year history.

Too much damage has been done to Scottish football by the old Rangers-SFA alliance to allow that to happen.

We’ve all done our talking on the internet, on blogs, twitter, newspaper comments pages etc.

We can continue to do that.

But there comes a time when talking is not enough, and action is required.

If we are not prepared to do something constructive now, there will come a time when the liquidation of Rangers FC will be remembered as nothing more than a minor bump in their history rather than what is was – its end.

Don’t let that happen through apathy

  13. I’m probably thinking a bit hopefully here but if Hooper does go I would hope we would speak to Chelsea to try and loan either Ba or Lukaku. I imagine both will have plenty of options in the premiership but hopefully a chance at Champions League football might sway it.

  14. P.S.

I’m think they may be available as Chelsea seem to be determined to bring in at least another couple of strikers.

  16. Petec

I hope he stays too. However i wouldn’t be devastated if he left, I’d be concerned if we’d be able to replace him quickly enough though.

I used similar techniques when I worked wi Sky,used to really annoy my colleagues when I could repair a system that they had marked as dead.

Used to REALLY annoy Sky that I rarely charged for those repairs as IMO anyone could have done it.

Does anyone know the Celtic side Neil put out against Crewe yesterday ? I find the Hooper situation strange Lennie still seems to think he can get him to resign. However, surely if he was going to stay with us he would have singed a new contract by now.H.H.

    Singed?

I reckon he put a match to it!

Little chance of Celtic seeing his signature on a new contract,IMO.

The one he signs in three or four years time will tell if he made the correct decision.

    Or not.

  22. BMCUW,

To be fair in 3 or 4 years time he could be set for life with the money he could make.

Or he could stay here, get crippled and no have any choices at the end of any contract, he’s no a Celtic supporter, simply a footballer trying to make as much as he can in the shortest time possible.
