Scott Brown not the only one worried about manager

1266

Scott Brown was not the only one was briefly worried about Neil Lennon’s position in recent months.  Neil has never particularly hidden his desire to work in England one day but when it became evident that there would be a few seats available in the English top flight, with the Everton job in particular becoming available, I am sure there were a few nervous twitches.

As and when Neil decides he is going to move on, Celtic will want to have a plan for succession in place, if not entirely executed.  In May, when Neil was fielding questions about moving on, I doubt any succession planning had taken place.  Some at the club would have been looking forward to a summer break and some player trading.  The prospect of finding a new manager, with all the inherent consequences for trading, preseason planning and Champions League qualification, would have caused mild panic.

Always be prepared.

How is your 1254125 work coming along?  Not started yet?  Today, Tom Conniffe completes his 125 mile walk along the Leeds-Liverpool canal.  Go look and see how well his fundraising has gone (and get involved if you can).

    BOBBY MURDOCH’S CURLED-UP, you’re on.

Tallybhoy, oh dear. No relation. Think he used to work for Hearts.

Just going with Pauls article about being prepared with a plan.

Who would you go fo yourself when Lenny decides to head back down south?

Neil Lennon has an opportunity that few mangers get and that is to have a long reign as manager of a big club and to become the greatest manager ever at that club. Sir Alex Ferguson did it with Man.Utd Lennie can do it at Celtic so every time any talks of him leaving just let them know that, also when tweeting which I know Lennie does it would do no harm to let Lennie know that. As he said last season this is not the end it is the beginning he can go on to be the all time greatest Celtic Manager ever. H.H.

Walked away from Collins in Seville the day after the game, constantly slagging players for giving the ball away.Utopia football does not exist.

  7. Is this the same John Collins – great player ‘tho he was – who came into the Hibs dressing room to meet the players shortly after being appointed as manager, and promptly whipped off his top to show off his athletic upper body?!

The notion that players and staff will find a better playing life beyond Celtic IS comical . Granted the Man U s Barca s Real s (& Southampton s) are massive. However ALL factors need to be considered in a move. On AND off the field ..

We played the Fields Of Athenry at our reception.. Outstanding memory ..

Give me one reason why Neil would wish to leave Celtic. He is in complete control of the playing side now, gone are the allegations of just being grateful.

The Samaras contract, and esp the Broooooonie contract suggest that to be the case.

He is a legend at a legendary club. Which is ingrained into his heart and soul.

And some people want to discuss replacements…….

  10. Tallybhoy,

Think that was blown up a bit. Bronny will know the real story on that one.

    BadaBing,

Would have done the same thing. Not a great time to start saying stuff like that.

My point is based purely on a footballing one. With regards teaching and developing young teams I think these guys have a lot to offer and teach game based on what i would call a Tommy Burns philosophy.

Which if was implemented at the very start ie at grassroots level all they way up from non compettive soccer 4’s, soccer 7’s then onto competitve 11 a sides’ you’d probably see the national team in a better shape with guys moving from boys club to pro youth and developing with the basics in place.

I’m glad everything went according to plan at Moira’s requiem and that there was a great turn-out. It sounds like you and the girls did brilliantly. You will remember it for ever and will be able to look back with pride that all went well. This will be a source of great solace to you in the hard months ahead.

When you’re down that way, I heartily recommend a visit to Cognac. Great history and a tour round one of the brandy distilleries is great fun. HH

Lourdes people doing a great job at cleaning the place up and getting chapels back into places fit for worship. Thanked yesterday by a Lourdaise just for turning up. They are so grateful for all the outside help and concern.
