Scott Brown not the only one worried about manager

1266

Scott Brown was not the only one was briefly worried about Neil Lennon’s position in recent months.  Neil has never particularly hidden his desire to work in England one day but when it became evident that there would be a few seats available in the English top flight, with the Everton job in particular becoming available, I am sure there were a few nervous twitches.

As and when Neil decides he is going to move on, Celtic will want to have a plan for succession in place, if not entirely executed.  In May, when Neil was fielding questions about moving on, I doubt any succession planning had taken place.  Some at the club would have been looking forward to a summer break and some player trading.  The prospect of finding a new manager, with all the inherent consequences for trading, preseason planning and Champions League qualification, would have caused mild panic.

Always be prepared.

How is your 1254125 work coming along?  Not started yet?  Today, Tom Conniffe completes his 125 mile walk along the Leeds-Liverpool canal.  Go look and see how well his fundraising has gone (and get involved if you can).

They help more than you know.

Touched on this very subject of support received with Paul67 soon after Moira passed away. I believe he’ll touch on it when he returns from sunnier climes.

    See you soon.

  2. Shouldor2shouldour,

My understanding is that Lennys agent ( Martin Reilly ) put his name in for the Everton job.

This is known by Celtic of course. We can speculate on the motivation, salary , budget, toe in the water or EPL challenge. If he was offered the job he would have taken it. I suspect some at Celtic would have been ok with that before Owen Coyle Took Wigan gig.

Charles kickham – as a proud kilkenny man – I would like to congratulate dublin on a very much deserved victory tonight – over the two games they deserved to win – the kilkenny team have given us everything & now unfortunately seem to have run out of steam – winner of next weeks qualifier at nowlan park will go a long way in championship & at this stage I’d not be fancying our bhoys

How can you possibly say this as fact?

Finally got my daughter and her family home safely from Lanzarote. My son in law said he was only above waist high in the water when his feet were whipped from under him and he cant remember anything abt it after that till he came round in the hospital. He Is a very lucky man. So be careful out there.

  6. I think i fall into that category would have had Coyle before Lenny, but i’ve been won over and would like him to stay and we can grow our ambitions together. What he has done is put us back on the map and i’m enjoying what he and the team have achieved. However if he does go there are many able and willing coaches out there who would give their front teeth to manage us .

Words cannot explain sorrow to what you have suffered. God bless you and your wonderful daughters. You will only get stronger through this terrible time, but nothing can take the memories from your good selves. You have been in my thoughts and prayers. Stay strong.

“Elvis Costello on the red button now” Will it blow him up? Wdnt get 2 songs in the Big Tree!!

  11. Petec, he would have tripled his salary. When you go that far and go through two rounds like Martinez and malky McKay , if you are successful with the resultant financial benefits, its 90% certain you jump. Celtic need to understand why he asked his agent to put his name in.

Charles kickham – to be honest I’m hurting like hell tonight – I’ve been spoiled with success from this Kilkenny team very much like the Celtic 9 in a row era which unfortunately had to come to an end – dublin have made massive strides with underage hurling & needed tonight’s boost – all Ireland winners at this stage is anyone’s guess

I’m the silly sod, namechecked by Paul in today’s article, who’s just walked the Leeds-Liverpool Canal for 1254125 – 125+ miles in 5 days. My blisters now have blisters and I’m exhausted but, given the myriad of good causes helped by the Celtic Charity, it was an incredibly worthwhile thing to do.

Thanks Paul for mentioning my efforts on a few occasions over the last week and to all the wonderful CQNers who have sponsored me so far. If you’d like to join that illustrious band of men and women you can do so at https://mydonate.bt.com/fundaisers/tomconniffe1 . If not, why not do a 1254125 yourself? It is quite simply the best thing I’ve done – for me or for anyone else – all year.

Thanks again to Paul, to those of you who have already parted with your hard-earned cash to support a fellow Tim and to you if you are about to. Hail Hail!

Tis that. My daughter is still in shock. Lucky a life guard and a paramedic were nearby. See that St Jude what a guy he is!!

  15. If the Stone Roses wait another 23 years until they play Glasgow Green again, the wee man will be 35 and I’ll be 64 and I will undoubtedly be jumping around like a nutter. Respect to those auld fellas putting their bodies through that torment @ Glastonbury.

  16. The Stones, how good are they and how long can they keep going? In the words of Jim White “Mick how come you are so good”!!!

  17. The ‘journey’ just hit a pot hole.

“Let’s be honest about it – they are two international-quality centre-backs and I’d be delighted if they came back. “They’d be like new signings. That’s exactly what they’d be like and of a great pedigree at that.”

Carlos Bocanegra and Dorin Goian have negotiated lucrative pay offs from Sevco.

I don’t think you realise how Clever Neil is?

That CDM position is his Own. He will make sure every player is sparkling after his tutelage. Victor is an enhanced Neil, IMO.

I disagree strongly with your comment that Neil would have F’d off for material things.

    Who cares?

Celtic to be European Champions once again in my lifetime & the Saffrons to be all-Ireland senior hurling Champions.
