Scott Brown, party plans pooped

341

Footballers typically hit their testimonial year well after their peak, but this is arguably Scott Brown’s best season of his 11 in a Celtic jersey.  His Supporters’ and Players’ Player of the Year awards, which he received last night, were a formality.  We all knew the captain would collect both prizes.

The first thing Brendan Rodgers did when he met the media on his appointment was to cite Scott as the most important player at the club.  Brendan knew what he could get out of the captain and understood the importance of setting his expectations out early.

Scott will be 33 in June.  One day we will discuss succession, but with his form and fitness at their best ever, that time could be a several years away.

Party plans were pooped on Saturday but at least Newco won yesterday, doing us a favour by ensuring that we can take the title by our own actions on Sunday, and not potentially while watching Aberdeen and Hearts on Friday night.

Normally I would tell you that the cup final is far more important than Sunday’s league game, but I want to win the league this weekend.  A lot.

No more mistakes, Celtic.

    Thanks mate!

I remember years ago when I was quite new to the Blog and hadn’t met anyone on here.

One day i posted if anyone fancied a game of golf at Linlithgow GC where I was a member.

MOONBEAMS, BJMAC and GOLDSTAR10 agreed to play.

As I was leaving the house to go meet the ghuys my then wee girl says to me –

“Remember Dad, you’re meeting strangers off the internet!”

The ghuys were great company and at the end of that day I understood what it meant when posters said CQN was more than just a Blog.

The outpouring of thoughts and prayers and good wishes on here when my wee girl had a health issue was quite overwhelming too.

This place is and always will be very special to me.

So, if I can quote one of CQN’s finest, LEFTCLICTIC –

    “Thanks for being here!”

Had a text exchange with Michael today, seems he got a wee fright, but will be back soon once fullly recovered

I also messaged Billy earlier, still to get reply, although he did text me last night saying he would fight this latest set back, and thanking us all for the support

    Hail Hail

  3. If the comments attributed to Scott Brown re Sevco on Sunday by the BBC (I know, I know) are true, I really wish he wouldn’t make them. They smack of arrogance, as if the result is a foregone conclusion. Sevco have several motivating factors – atonement for their abysmal past performance, attaining second place, and potential success as party poopers. There is no need to provide them additional incentive by comments likely to be posted on their changing room wall on Sunday.

The last thing we want to do is give them oxygen, and they will have learned from watching Hibs. Far better to do our talking on the park.

I’ll be with Chic on Sunday, will remind him of that, done it myself too, it was the game that le petite merde scored in the last minute, I was in the east enclosure where for 89 mins all the huns gave him dogs abuse, fenian this fenian that, to which I duly joined in with, not the fenian bit but, wee fanny, arsehole and so on, really funny getting away with that right in amongst them, scoring in the last minute let me nick outside whilst those two faced scumbags celebrated, still can’t believe I was in there to this day, certainly never happened again or ever will. Felt minging for a long time after, dobs

it would be the sweetest Celtic verses Rangers victory.

“[The fans] will love it, puts a smile on everyone’s face again. But we need to make sure we turn up and we do our job and make sure we win as well.

“We’ve had a couple of hard games against them at Celtic Park. The pitch is looking good and the lads are looking forward to it.”

Couldnae go in the huns end against us. Have gone into Hearts main Stand twice against us. One night I got a kicking cause I was on my own when we scored and I cheered. The second time I got 5 tickets. Invited the 4 heaviest nutcase Tims fae Temple that I knew. When Celtic scored that night, The Temple Tims went mental. The Hertz fans shat it. I didnae get a kicking that night. ???

Rangers had to team up with Hummel as the Ibrox club are no longer attractive to big kit makers such as Nike, according to a leading football shirt expert.

Cokey fae the VD Yoker Toi, is a paradox wrapped in a paradox. The biggest Provo in my company for doing his bit over the watter. Proud Scottish Protestant Irish Republican.

He could have been the Kevin Bridges of our time if he took up Stand Up Comedy.

Have a doobie wi Cokey and you would giggle for days.

  17. D66 I have never done it since and never will again. I am pretty sure it was Chick.

Was in that main stand at the minis too, about ten of us from the dolphin bus. After telling ourselves before going in to be calm and not react, we must have lasted 2 minutes, the vile from them was unreal even by their standards so it was feck it, in for a penny and all that, pure mental and the best of it was there was probably about another 20 tims in there too, and yes the sons of william shat it as ever, so funny, even stewards running away.

Real shame for the lad if that’s how it plays out.

As for the biscuit tin bhoys, they then went out and bought Marvin Compper who is the least prone to injury & fittest player at Lennoxtown – amongst those who are receiving treatment, are from Germany and have initials MC.

I’m just surprised there was no award at the POTY ceremony to recognize this honour.

    As for said POTY awards.

Didn’t see that regarding Rivaldo Coetzee

    Shocking news.

    Just to recap;

He was the Centre Back we signed, but still got panned from our own support including Chris Sutton

for not signing a Centre Back right through the winter of CL football.

The selling club leaked the transfer before Celtic’s medical team had conducted his medical,

and of course the deal couldn’t get registered.

Very sad all round, ironic that it looks like we still need at least one new very substantial signing at

    Centre Back in summer?

Glad to hear your first day went well. Did you figure out who were the goodies and baddies.

My dad (who I am not very keen on) had a quite unique way of doing it. At break time when they were all in the canteen at work and a new guy started he would wait till everyone was reading their paper (phone now) and start to whistle Hail Queen Of Heaven. If he looked up he was a tim if not he was a nonentity. Let me know how you get on if you give it a go.
