You know what Dundee United really need? Scott Brown to turn up at Hampden on Sunday with a point to prove. We’ve complained for years about the way media scrutiny falls haphazardly on Celtic but God help us if we ever acquire the cosy relationship others cultivate in order to avoid the light scrutiny required to keep them healthy.
Celtic players are allowed to drink before their day off (as is the manager). Scott didn’t punch anyone, didn’t threaten anyone, didn’t drive under the influence, didn’t speak inappropriately and didn’t break club rules.
Had he not sat down this would never have been a story, even if he’d had an additional 10 drinks. ‘Scott Brown sat down’ is the story – and that’s the worst they can come up with. Paying someone £100 for a photograph and spending 30 minutes writing about it has to be the cheapest cover in publishing history. It doesn’t pass the ‘news’ test, it is celebrity gossip.
Pin it to the dressing room wall and he’ll be Man of the Match on Sunday, you can bank on it.
CQN11 St Patrick’s Dinner is tonight! Soooooooo excited. See you there.

If the story is true (a big IF) then i completely disagree Paul67 – not on Cup Final weekend and to the extent which is being reported.
As we can all testify to, yesterday would have been a groggy drive back down the road to Glasgow meaning today wont quite be at 100% which leaves you out of training sessions before match day.
As we can also testify too the jnk food in particular sits in you a few days (although as we arent finely tuned ‘athletes’ its shows in our bellies for a few days longer than that!)
I’ve no issues with good dinner, a few pints then home – even if he wanted to have them with such fine scenery to admire – but going on the razzle 3 nights before Cup Final day – again IF true, is unacceptable.
We all need to take a good look at ourselves and our errant captain.
He’s got previous. He’s been known to sit down before. Why only last Sunday he sat down on the pitch at an away ground and flagrantly caused his head to come into contact with cifti’s boot.
Could so easily have been a metatarsul for the poor Arab.
There’s a malaise in our club. Thank you to the scottish press for pointing this out.
And yes, Alfie has frapped my account!
4 hours till I get to buy sipsini a magners.

The SNP are pretty glib about finance in general (tax, currency etc.), I’m allowed a miniscule glibette on tax raising powers…………..but the DO have them.

That’s only cos you can use your commanding size and presence to elbow your way to the bar.
Sipsini will be waylaid by bonhomie when he attempts to reciprocate.
The msm doing what the msm always do.
Hope Broony takes them to the cleaners for it and uses it a motivation for the cup final.
Very jealous of the lucky peeps going to CQ11 tonight. Have a ball and don’t get in the state I ended up at last time out.
Is it still possible to buy raffles online for tonight?
Anyone up for drinkies in the BV next Wednesday prior to /after to the replay?

A big happy birhday to Luggie , probably the most undervalued of the Lions, but one of my all time favourite players
An amazing Celtic man, who has been employed on and off at Parkhead since he joined us aged 17 in1958.
I hope you have a great day sir.

Currently formulating new finance policy:
Tried taxing the rich but they an away and hid their dosh offshore
Tried eating the rich but the anarchics gave up when tofu came in
Now going for enslaving the rich, making them do what they do with a direct minder who then feeds them gruel 3 times a day
Personally I think it’s populous but achievable
SRSP vote now to enslave the rich

Its Celtics lack of response which has me concerned – usually they are out of the traps quicker than this years Gold Cup winner.

It’s going to be supported by financial rendition policy.
This will see the likes of Lewis Hamilton snatched by a SWAT team and returned here to pay 90% tax instead of bagging it up and placing it in his dog’s account in Monaco.
Think I’m getting the hang of this politics caper…

Celtic, or, Brown himself, must clarify – was it this week? – If it was my previous position that he must be banned stands – if it is an old picture, then it has to be challenged VERY strongly – I will then apologise.
Using an old picture would be mischief-making and blatant lying by the Sun.
Paul is wrong to say that it is “Scott Brown sat down” – if he is sitting down drunk and as Paul says “Ronny allows this the night before a day off”, then Ronny is not the man we all thought he was.
Paul – are you really saying that Ronny watches and supervises training all week – monitors nourishment, and then says ” you can get pished on your night off”
One night’s serious bevvy would undo all the good achieved that week.
Alcohol will weaken your system for at least three days after intake.
I am surprised at you, Paul – I want the treble but I will not ‘burn’ my principles to get it.
As I say, I hope the photo is a lie – if so I will say sorry.

Compared to the Sun the DR just about passes as a newspaper. If I was Broonie I would sue.
Alfie get a grip, ban him for a night out???
He didn’t assault, racially abuse or offend anyone. He (if pic is true) had a few beers n was pictured sitting down on a day off n you want him banned n sold? Get a grip!!

Happy lunchtime friends.

I don’t think Celtic have to rush any statement out.
Anyone looking at the photo can see the story is fabricated.
This is a reflection on the alleged journalist and the rag he writes for more than anything to do with our club. Fortunately for the paper involved it has particularly low standards, so nobody working for them needs to lose sleep over the issue, freeing them all to focus on the next email from Level5PR.
Just sent this to BBC Scotland!
“Would you please explain why, in the current headline article on the BBC Scotland Sport webpage, you have neitther used “alleged” or “allegedly” in the following headline or text?
Scott Brown: Celtic offer no comment over ‘drunk’ pictures
Celtic are making no comment over a newspaper report that appears to show captain Scott Brown apparently drunk in Edinburgh days before a cup final.
The newspaper published pictures of the Scotland captain slumped on the pavement on Wednesday night.
Brown, 29, had the day off on Thursday and was back training on Friday morning.
Celtic play Dundee United in Sunday’s Scottish League Cup final at Hampden Park.
Manager Ronny Deila has previously spoken of the need for his Celtic squad to be “24-hour athletes” and has introduced strict rules over diet.
Further, are you sure that the pictures featured in the Scottish Sun were actually taken on Wednesday 11th of March 2015?
I am not surprised by the standards of that “newspaper”, but I had expected more from BBC Scotland.
However, perhaps the allegations are true?
Perhaps it is true, as is often rumoured, that the BBC Scotland Sports Department is staffed by persons who have a grudge against Celtic.
By the way, how is your investigation of the racist homophobic tweets from a TRIFC NED (Non-Executive Director) coming along?”
HH
It’s a big media push against Celtic.
The Brown picture got a mention on BBC Scotland news.
Made the point about a day off but why mention it at all?
I like it Paul.

Paul- I cannot understand the tenor of your article;
“Scott didn’t punch anyone, didn’t threaten anyone, didn’t drive under the influence, didn’t speak inappropriately and didn’t break club rules…. ‘Scott Brown sat down’ is the story – and that’s the worst they can come up with.”
The analysis is extremely dismissive of a potentially concerning image (I emphasise POTENTIALLY).
IF (I emphasise IF), our club captain is blootered on the Wednesday night of a cup final week, that is unacceptable. FULL STOP. He is our best paid player. He is our captain. He is a role model. He has an influence in the dressing room.
From a professional point of view, very well-paid professional athletes such as Brown should not be getting into this ALLEGED state during the season.
If the picture is a fake, if it relates to another time, if he was not drunk, then clearly no criticism is due.
However, IF the image depicts what it APPEARS to reflect, then yes, he must be punished by the club. This is ALLEGEDLY not Scott Brown just sitting down. It is, ALLEGEDLY, our captain drunk. Imagine this was Stokes or Griffiths? Simply because he is our captain and arguably our best player should not influence the club’s reaction. Whether its a 17 year old first team newbie or an established important player, drunkenness midweek is simply not compatible with a professional approach and attitude.
If we want a fit, professional first team squad, we cannot condone Scott or shoot the messenger. I do not like the Sun or any other tabloid. But let us focus on what the photograph is rather than the circumstances in which it was taken.
We should not AUTOMATICALLY run to any player’s defence. Such knee-jerk and happy clapping reactions serve no useful purpose.

What made you immediately believe the story in the Sun wrt Scott Brown? Would you be surprised or even shocked that the Sun would be mischief making or even lying?
I would have thought that given your political beliefs, you would take everything that rag prints with a huge pinch of salt.
I find trolls more of an issue than drunks.
Not surprised to see those who are having a go at Scott Brown,
any excuse

OK Lets just presume Scott Brown’s guilt until you are satisfied.

Scott’s is being questioned by knobends in the media. Do you really want to associate yourself with them?
