Scott Brown’s impressive body of work

271

If Scott Brown departs in the summer to join Aberdeen as Stephen Glass’ assistant manager, the body of work he will leave behind is beyond what anyone could imagine when he arrived at the club in 2007.  With 10 league titles, six Scottish Cup and six League Cup winner’s medals, his major trophy haul is greater than any Scottish club apart from Celtic and Oldco Rangers.  He is also one of the few in the modern era who could have gone to the top flight in England and chose to stay at Celtic.

He will be 36 in June and although his recent form has been as solid as ever, he no longer has the mobility to cover the ground he once did for Hibernian, Celtic and Scotland.  I will be sorry to see him go as he would be an invaluable resource to the new manager but the timing is probably right.  It would, however, be good to see him leave after raising the Scottish Cup one more time.

2020 saw us miss out on the CQN Charity Golf Open for the first year since 2005 (can’t remember why).  Ever the optimists, we have put Friday 23 July in the diary at our usual corner of Fife in the hope that by then the world will be a bit more sociable.  We will release more details as guidelines permit, but if you would like to attend, please email cqnopen@gmail.com .  Maybe see you there.

4 huns tried to decapitate a Polish, Catholic, Celtic supporter with a machete on Sunday after the game. They killed him on his doorstep in front of his wife and kids.

    35 year old

    Kamil RIP

  2. Lots of comments on different sites about big DD’s interview on the Celtic website. I got a wee bit of a boost when he mentioned we still have a cup tae play for.

Might be worth putting a few bob on us, bring on the bairns.

  3. I am the one that called Dermot Desmond delusional

    Why not name me ?

That’s the same Dermot, that sat and watched Celtic throw away a once in a lifetime opportunity to create legends

Ignored clear facts last year from Sept – it was well known prior to that point, that all was not well within Celtic park.

The same Dermot, that thinks we are lucky to have a arrogant arse as a Chairman, yip the man who sanctioned a £1m payment into the Old Rangers.

Have any of you actually read his response to where Celtic finds itself ?

A CEO, that has spent 17 years in the role

The CEO, that didn’t see any 5 way agreement, even though copied in email to approve

A board that has been in place and ignored good corporate governance by having many remain remaining in place for over 9 years, need to look at when Sharon Brown was appointed, she will not be at that point, suppose neither has the legal Guy Michael Nicholson, or the new Finance guy, can’t remember his name

That’s Nicholson, that couldn’t use the silver bullet provided by the Res12 team

A Dermot that sees Sevco as more important than his actual customer base, due to the Blue pound

Try reading what he has stated – my own view, he is taking us Celtic fans for Mugs

Delusional with his responses, into what a large prreportion of Celtic fans want.

Oh he’s a billionaire – so he must be right with all his decisions

  4. As for Turkeybhoy

You will be that great fan,

that was so excited and boasted about booking flights to get home for the first ever Celtic v Sevco game

‘But the poor governance happened whilst we were in the UK – including the initial real threat to close down Celtic prior to Fergus.’

    ####

Sorry, but it wasn’t poor governance that caused the differential treatment. It was bias in favour of one culture and against another culture. That’s a Scottish thing. We both know it wouldn’t have happened like that if both clubs bank accounts had been controlled from London.

    ========================

I think you make my point for me Ernie, to be honest. Good corporate governance wouldn’t have allowed the bias by individuals within the Bank of Scotland to have the level of latitude they had to favour one customer over another – based on nothing other than personal preference.

Anyway – happy to talk more in normal times and no problem catching up again on this specific discussion.

Tonight though – there are much more sombre and brutal realities to think on.

The murder of Kamil, as described by my blessed friend DD – is utterly sickening but, as I posted earlier, is neither new, surprising nor unexpected. It is what they do.

The poor man and his wife and children are the latest in a long line of victims of the poisonous Klan that use that club as a vehicle for their hatred.

    So sad.

Was about to post that Norrie. Thank you.

A young man moves from Poland to Glasgow to better his life for his family. A hun then slashes his throat and kills him. His wife and two kids need support. SentinelCelts could provide that help, or start a campaign.

The people making the decisions about the hun’s finances would have been the ones drawing up and overseeing the banks regime of corporate governance.

  9. I would recommend to all on here, apart maybe for those flying false flags, to make an effort to watch on BBCi Player the just finished mini series on BBC Scotland, ‘The War Next Door: Scotland and the Troubles” it is well worth watching. Particularly in that we get the perspective of those, then and now, who got caught up in it, who were part of it. As opposed to just living through it. I mentioned on here a wee while back, another series ‘ The Secret History of the Troubles’ shown recently on BBC4 I think offhand, which adopted a similar approach in terms of looking back and trying to evaluate your own role in that period of history. In tonight’s episode there was an interesting view from a Scottish soldier, who had served in Ireland during that period, or the 1980s part of it, seen it from his uniform’s perspective up close. He was there when Bobby Sands went on his hunger strike. Now sees things from another perspective, or rather a different one from his initial one all those years ago. As indeed did some of the Republican participants in the BBC4 series.

Just watched it , though I missed the start of it.

Not sure that the reason given for Scotland being off limits was accurate. I think it was more to do with keeping the security at Stranraer as low as possible.

Interesting comment by the Spike character, that his father who was English hadn’t a clue about the whole sectarianism thing. Kind of echoes what I’ve been posting earlier.

  14. I am going to ask you all, please, dont put any of the details of the terrible event on line,

    names, opinions, personal comments.

Martin McGuinness made clear the Provisionals position re Scotland not so long ago, his position similar to one that I share now, which is that for all the fault lines, there is an historical relationship between what became the Scots and the Irish, which pre-dates say the Normans and everything which followed that. Martin of course believed the Scots didn’t have the balls to break with the Union, unlike the Irish, but the fact is one hundred years on Ireland despite its Declaration is not fully Independent, and despite your own Unionist views I do not think will be, until Scotland, which as you rightly pointed out has a different history, 1707 not 1801, breaks the chain with the Union. A Union which after all has just cost every Scot their European Citizenship. Hell of a price to pay to keep flying the flag.

I am still pissed off wi you Drew.

I was convinced you would have played professional fitba when we were at Saint Tams together. You were like a whippet and scored goals. You reminded me of a guy I played against for Saint Columbas Clydebank.

Kevin Gallacher. Stuck out like a sore thumb Kevin how good a fitba player he was as a wean.

A bit like Clydebank’s John McGinn.

Both Clydebank Tims, both should been Celtic players.

Disgusting that anybody should lose their life in such a manner. If he had been a member of the British military or a Police officer we would be hearing that it was a terrorist incident and all stops would have been pulled out with the area being flooded by armed police.

Norrie, I’m with you all the way. Delusional is being kind. We have recently witnessed 2 stage-managed interviews from Lawwell and Desmond in an attempt to pull the wool over the eyes of the fans. There is a total disconnect between 99% of us and the PLC – we still have a few people who will lap up the verbal diarrhoea that those in power excrete.

I don’t like using donate sites, is there another way to give some money to the family that is safe?

    ——————————————————————————————————————

Not everyone likes using donation sites and some people don’t have the ability to use them. If there is an alternative I’m sure it will be posted somewhere.

However, I’m pretty sure if we were allowed to attend the football there would have been a collection outside of Celtic Park.

    Covid-19 – surely a hun virus?

  24. Have we won 51 titles? If so and if we get our act together and win the next four, there will be a lot of Huns regretting their recent tatoos.

  25. Reading the article on this site from DD, he sees the club as being in transition next season, delayed selling of players from this season will also take place.

He does not say what criteria the new manager has to meet other that playing the Celtic way, hope he is aware that next season the winner of the league is straight into the CL group stage.

I am really concerned Lawwell is involved in this process along with the silent chairman.

  26. McKay doesn’t join us until 1st July (I think).

DD said he would be involved in the selection of the new manager.

So should we not expect the new manager joining us before July, or is McKay involved in discussions now?

If Scots were that bothered more than 41% of eligible voters would have voted to remain.

We also had a Less turnout than the other nations of the UK.

41% does not equate to ” Scots being dragged out of Europe against their will ”

There may be many benefits of being in the EU, but the voting figures suggest many didn’t see this or couldn’t be bothered one way or another.
