SCOTTISH CUP DRAW: CELTIC AT TANNADICE

1

CELTIC have been drawn against Dundee United at Tannadice in the Scottish Cup quarter-final next month.

The Hoops have already played the Tayside outfit three times this season – and won two and drawn one.

In the other ties, Hearts are at home to St Mirren, Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side travel to Dens Park and Motherwell will face Hibs at Fir Park.

The ballot was made immediately after Dundee had beaten Peterhead 3-0 at Balmoor this evening.

The Hoops are looking for their fifth victory in the national competition in six seasons after winning four in succession during their phenomenal quadruple treble sequence.

HISTORY BHOY…Kristoffer Ajer lashes the decisive penalty-kick beyond Craig Gordon to seal the remarkable quadruple treble.

The history-making run kicked off in 2017 when Tom Rogic slotted in the stoppage-time matchwinner against Aberdeen as Brendan Rodgers’ Invincibles sealed a memorable campaign in the Northern Irishman’s debut season.

Goals from Callum McGregor and Olivier Ntcham downed Motherwell 2-0 the following year and then it was the turn of Odsonne Edouard to take centre stage with a double salvo in the comeback 2-1 triumph over Hearts on the iconic date of May 25 in 2019.

And strikes from Ryan Christie, Edouard, with a penalty-kick, and Leigh Griffiths, in extra-time. saw Neil Lennon’s side draw 3-3 with the Tynecastle side in the delayed 2020 grand finale.

Kristoffer Ajer thrashed the decisive penalty-kick past former team-mate Craig Gordon to deliver the silverware to Parkhead for the fourth successive season.

The date for the game will be announced shortly and will be televised live by Premier Sports.
