SCOTTISH CUP DRAW: CELTIC v DUNDEE

0

CELTIC will face Dundee in the Scottish Cup Fifth Round at Parkhead next month.

Martin O’Neill’s side booked their place in the last 16 with a 2-0 win over sixth-tier Auchinleck Talbot at Rugby Park earlier in the evening.

It wasn’t the most spectacular or convincing performance from the champions in recent times, but a goal in each half from Johnny Kenny and Sebastian Tounekti got the job done against gallant opposition.

Now the Hoops will square up to ex-Celt Steven Pressley’s Dens Park outfit on the weekend of February 7/8.

The clubs have already played each other twice in the Premiership this season with a win apiece. The Tayside outfit picked up three points with a 2-0 home victory in October – Brendan Rodgers’ second last league match as Hoops manager – and O’Neill guided the side to a 1-0 victory at Parkhead when he said farewell on December 3.

PICK IT OUT…Johnny Kenny nets the opener against Auchinleck Talbot.

Daizen Maeda marked the Irishman’s final game as interim gaffer with the winner before Wilfried Nancy’s disastrous 33 days that saw the team lose six of his eight games in charge before he was sacked.

O’Neill answered a second SOS and will now attempt to lead the team past the Dundee hurdle as he looks once again at a Scottish Cup Final, having won the trophy three times in his first time in charge in 2000/05.
