SCOTTISH CUP DRAW: CELTIC v St MIRREN

CELTIC will play St Mirren in the Scottish Cup semi-final at Hampden next month.

Martin O’Neill’s battlers won through to the last four after a tension-laden 4-2 penalty-kick shoot-out triumph over Danny Rohl’s side following a scoreless extra-time stalemate at Ibrox this afternoon.

The Hoops scored all four of their spot-kicks through Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Auston Trusty, Reo Hatate and on-loan Tomas Cvancara.

In a dramatic encounter in Govan, Daizen Maeda had what looked like a good goal ruled out by VAR in a tight offside decision in the first-half.

The hosts also had an effort wiped out, but images showed Youssef Chermiti clearly handled the ball before it crossed the line.

The ballot gives the champions the perfect opportunity to gain revenge after the Paisley club’s 3-1 victory in the Premier Sports League Cup Final at Hampden in mid-December when Wilfried Nancy was manager during his 33-day catastrophic stay at Parkhead.

Steven Robinson’s club won through following a 2-1 success over Partick Thistle tonight while the other tie will be played between Falkirk and Neil Lennon’s Dunfermline, 3-0 conquerors of holders Aberdeen last night.
