Scottish football against corruption

1216

The world looked so different for Scottish Football League chief executive, David Longmuir, back in March.  He convinced half of the member clubs to reject a deal which would earn them considerably more money next season, while enjoying the accolades of Rangers International chief exec, Charles Green.

Green remains a controlling director of Rangers International, but Longmuir’s actions infuriated First Division clubs, who have now applied to join the SPL, furious at his attempts to subvert them earning what many see as crucial income next season.

To suggest Longmuir acted in the interests of one Third Division club to the considerable detriment of all First Division clubs would be stating the obvious.  These shenanigans still go on in Scottish football, even now, after all that happened last year, but it is reassuring that the overwhelming majority of voices have, again, said, ‘On your (boardroom) bike’.  We are rapidly becoming one of the least corrupt countries football is played in the world.  Good luck to all in the First Division.

I read the leaked document, Rangers (sic): the way forward, yesterday afternoon.  It was so ludicrously lacking in anything which remotely resembled substance I assumed the leak was an attempt to discredit Charles Green.  Then I heard BBC’s Chris McLaughlin say it was Green himself behind the leak.  The fact that the Rangers International director categorically recognised the club is lumbered with a lame manager hardly passes for insight. The document was embarrassingly inept.

“The team will work for each other and press the opponents when not in possession.

“Most of all, players will come off the park knowing that they have done their best.”

In a high-level policy document this is cringeworthy.

  15. sure we were poor , but the pitch was worse than poor.Anyone out there who played on “the midden” or “the humf” in Wishaw in the 70`s and 80`s would have been at home out there. The only thing missing was the broken bottles, dog turds and half bricks.

I don`t feel as bad as last week because we did not lose. However I would query the introduction of Paddy when we had lads fit to burst on the bench. By the way, I have been watching the Mersey Derby also, what a sack of shit that is and we have 40 times the wage bill on display.

A lot of rich folk give all their money away before they die – not genuine,it’s like trying to buy your way into heaven.

As far as greed with money is concerned,i have been as guilty as anybody, but not for my own benefit,i tried to look after everybody.

One day i was dandering through a rough wee part of town,a lot of beggars, native ones and immigrant itinerants.Went into the amusement arcade, changed a score into pound coins, and handed them all out.

Then i beat myself up,because they were only going to buy drink with it,you are only helping them kill themselves.

We will have to fight our way to the Big Table once again.

    I dislike the Big Table.

I see Barcelona crumble and it is not Real. Their fitness was exceptional. Bayern Munich were allowed to cheat at home against them by Flooding the middle of the pitch with water and not players. The amount of money owed to Germans by Spaniards is an irrelevance, or is it?

  24. Another poor performance this afternoon. if we win and its a big if we win the scottish cup great, but i still say change the coaches for next season,i think some of the decisions they have made over the season, has been shocking, and cost us games,no im afraid times up for the n i man ,and im sure he has been hinting about moving on .so good luck and try and calm down in your next job, concentrate on football matters. rather than your own ego.who would i like to see replacing lennon and his coaches.well why dont we try .roy aitkin. john collins willie mcstay.willie i must say got shown the door when lennon arrived,

    leadly ..invisible

that to me is where it has to be right in the engine room.ledley plays well at home games but is substandard away from home..if lenny is fine with loosing points then give the young bhoys a start..we’ve got to build up a strong mental focus for this final if players are going to be rested or turn up half arsed when these kids are hungry and want to prove a point that they should be included and are good enough to compete.the attitude of the the players is paramount!competition has to be level and inclusive and fair..we didnt control the game at all and thats been the story in a few of our away games for whatever reason.spme times its been the pairing of the two holding players..kayal and ledley of late..why do we need two?we should be 4,3.3against all teams in this league and no one should be controling the game against us..macgeoch an commons in front of kayal..rogic and mccourt in front of ledley..forrest and commons in front of wanyama..just a thot imo h.h
