Leigh Griffiths has had plenty of uncomplimentary discourse written about him this season, most of it deserved, so it should be recorded that he was the first Hibs player to return applause in the direction of Celtic fans yesterday, closely followed by his team-mates.
This is the way football should be. For too long our game has been poisoned by the unique kind of rivalry you got in Scotland. More of the same, please.
You can contribute to the 1254125 1254125 call to ensure Celtic retain our affinity with our founding cause by buying a raffle ticket for a fabulous framed Celtic top, signed by the equally-fabulous Seville squad. Do it today.
Willie Wallace had a great time signing copies of his Heart of a Lion at Waterstons in East Kilbride and Falkirk this afternoon. East Kilbride was busier but the photos of stock Falkirk (below) before and after tells you all about his day. I hear our most recent treble winning captain came alone for a book at East Kilbride.
We’re at Waterstones, Stirling, on Thursday evening for late night shopping, will confirm times tomorrow. If you can’t make it along you can still order your signed copy below.

With all the talk about Leigh Griffiths, maybe that’s the reason he didn’t go down looking for a penalty when Fraser touched him, hmmm.

You nailed it as regards the hibs fans…I had a couple of run in’s with them on the eighties.
They are jealous of our success and have no affiliation to our club.

That whole night was a bit surreal when we played PSG. Their fans had to be segregated from each other due to having right wing/left wing support. They actually started fighting each other.
They were an awesome team and went on to win it that year. Their manager later stated that night we applauded them off the park gave him a better feeling than winning the trophy.
Also met PSG fans who informed me they hated everyone but would always make an exception for Celtic fans.

Interesting reading your posts re the Hibees. Lived in Edinburgh for 20 years and for 12 of them within spitting distance of their stadium.
Made far more pals from their side than from the purple pests but they rarely spoke affectionately about our team though generally they far preferred us to the Huns. Our teams were never as good as the ones we’d had before though and a lot of them disliked big Jock for jumping ship to come to CP in 1965.
I attended the match yesterday with one of my old pals from Edinburgh who thinks that there has been an emergence of the HibHun. They fly green and blue/black versions of The Union Flag and dislike their fellow supporters who fly Tricolours. Their Casuals were pests who after Trainspotting and Marabou Stork Nightmares thought they were invincible. And they started calling us Weegies only after the success of the former book.
Complex bunch who look on us with unacknowledged envy but in few cases do they hate us
As usual I have rambled on too long

On = in…still partying hey ho.HH
Re. Griffiths. Would rather sign Russell.
oasis songs at full time in PSG
on a night when we very nearly shocked the big boys
Re PSG
Was in Paris that night. Ground actually shook when the DJ played Roll With It at the end. Great occasion and as I recall one of Phil O’Donnell’s best games for us – and big Pierre’s worst

Before, during and even after the Hibs support were walking about with the freedom of Glasgow.
I wonder why that was?
talking of euro teams who impressed at CP who was the midfielder who played for (Zagreb) when they gave us a bit of a doing at CP? A class apart if my old failing memory serves me right

I’ve been up here since 1982 and noticed a change in elements of their support. My line is that if they are over 40 they are fine, its the younger ones that can cause a problem. Was in the pub last night with six of them but those guys were nearer to 60 and plastered!
On the big screen inside hampden yesterday it displayed “Outside the stadium celtic and hibernian fans are sitting side by side enjoying the sun thats the way football should be” listening to some folk i think they want everyone to kiss our feet…..at least its not got to the stage where nobody likes us and we dont care.
answering my own question (with a question) was it prosnecki?
I always find it strange when Celtic fans complain about opposition fans, like we should be treated in some unique way that shields us from the neds and dickheads.
There will be posts on Hibs forums saying the exact same about us.

Good player Tweety Pie Heid but I don’t think he is good enough for us, would rather we kept Hoops.
Falcao + Victor Valdes have arrived in Monaco for medicals tomorrow prior to signing.
Griffiths and Russell both left footers, and neither of whom would fill the neccessary Celtic goals required season aggregate IMHO.
I think we’ll be looking further afield though I’d take Russell as an add on.

it sure was prosineki smoked like a lum so they say

Succinctly put what it took me several hundred words of waffle. They like a scoop that is for sure!

Platini will forget about FFP now that its French clubs like Monaco & PSG spending stupid money and living outwith their means with the backing of a sheik or obligarch
Left right on full time on sunday as I had a wedding at loch lomond to attend
As I walked down past asda I was amongst a good few hibees… one of them said I wasnt much of a fan if I dont wait to see the presentation.
I laughed and told them I was already late for a wedding. .. but that I get to see my bhoys lift silverwear most years so no big deal.
He laughed and his mates gave him some stick then
I wished them good luck for next year .
Can you imagine that scenario with the zombies
I am like those PSG fans I met long ago, l dislike every other team in Scotland’s supporters. There is always that anti-Irish/catholic edge to the way they treat us.
sipsini
There has always been trouble as far back as I can recall. I remember being at Hampden for a semi final in 1980 and they charged the Celtic fans at half time.
Right enough was another humiliation for them with Bobby Lennox scoring in a 5-0 rout. Think George Best was about for Hibs then but can’t recall him at Hampden.

You are probably right but the French are revolting so maybe Platini will be screwed after this, Fergus was right about Monaco and fingers crossed the French league follow through with the legal action.
TFPLG; John, I want you and a few of the lads to go on a “meet the supporters” gig
J.Daley: Aye boss; where to?

Paul67,
Credit must go to the Hibs fans and players for the way they conducted themselves.
However it always irks me when Hibs get 3 / 4 tickets for cup finals per season ticket holder, and our fans struggle , with much less probability of getting a ticket .
People who put their money in week in, week out are denied tickets for the big event, whilst folks who never go near a game on a week to week basis get the chance to take their families.
Of the 20k Hibs fans yesterday, I would bet that at least 1/3 hadn’t attended a game since last year’s final.
I know it takes two teams, and there has to be a split, but I have no time for cup final glory hunters…glory , glory to the Hibees is very apt.
Having walked from Kings Park Avenue, around the stadium, past west end through and amongst the Hibs support I found them a fine support. No hassles, able to talk to them like normal human beings. We sat in the beer garden surrounded by them, no hassle.
They went about their business supporting their team with little or no hint of hatred of us or anything else.
I recall thinking that this would be impossible if a certain deid team were any where near the place.

Thanks for the celtic TV link stuff. Awesome, Team are right good pals by the looks. Bodes well for the future.

What was the story regarding Neil Lennon picking up the trophy? Was some SFA corruption monkey mouthing off behind his back?

I just don’t buy into this ‘love in’ with the Hibs support.
A number within their support do all they can to cleanse the origins of their club.
Over the years I’ve seen an element behave as badly as any others. Yes I’d like to see some sort of affinity with supporters from other clubs but it shouldn’t take away from football rivalry.
Some of the Celtic support applauded the Hibs fans towards the end of the game. The only reason I could see was because they sang in support of their own team. I genuinely don’t think that’s deserving of our appreciation.
