Scottish football on solid ground

1313

Any away win by a Scottish club in the Netherlands is noteworthy but Aberdeen’s win last night is even more significant. It is a sign that a recovery is underway in one of Scottish football’s perennial underachievers. St Johnstone’s result is more of the same after last year’s achievements. Motherwell’s sorry exit is a lesson on being unprepared….

If Celtic can reach the Champions League group stage for the third successive season, there’s reason to believe our game is on solid ground after the years of excess and abandon.

I take your point. If it was easy, I think we would have solved it already.

The more I think about the survey idea, the more I think it may serve to at least gauge the depth of feeling amongst posters.

Like many things that are 10 years old, they may need pruned, dead wood and parasites removed and a different trestle installed to help them develop with strength

‘I wonder if all those who wave the Palestinian Flag (and any other which someone has their own reasons for bringing) at Celtic Park could wave the Saltire instead….Surely we could all endorse that, whatever our politics.’

Yeah, because like they’re like both flags and stuff, so like waiving one flag is like like waiving another flag.

  6. I can understand people having problems wigh text predictors etc. I have the same problem from time to time, but I make sure I proof read my comments to eradicate such errors before submitting.

How easy is it? Well, it’s got to be easier than constantly sending follow up posts to correct errors, which only proves that you proof read your comments AFTER hitting the submit button.

An elitist? Never been called that before. If you knew me, I’m far from it.

Things evolve as this site has over the years of its existence. We can all remember how we felt about the changes but we accepted them and moved on – it’s CQN first and foremost.

Every so often it needs tweaking, as is happening now with the redesign effort. And every so often every successful project faces a major paradigm change otherwise it can stagnate and decline.

I’m all for political and religious discussion and opinion (have a few myself), just not on this forum. It’s fundamentally a football forum – a Celtic forum.

Donno what all the fuss about The Singing Detectives posts is about. He’s an irrelevance to this blog, most certainly a walloper and as a consequence my index finger has him on permanent scroll by mode. Never read one of his posts ever. There are a few others that fall into this category too.

Light always attracts the dark and as a consequence a blog, or as it has become- a movement for those less fortunate, is always going to attract individuals with a twisted agenda.

I log on here in the USA in the morning when my work schedule permits. I read Paul’s post post for the day and then look for others commenting, those such as The Battered Bunnet, SFTB, BSR, Bobby Murdoch, Doc, PFAyr, Hamiltontim, BarcaBhoy, Bada Bing, Corkcelt, Morrisey 23rd and many others who’s opinion I respect and on occasion may even disagree with.

My point being I’ve identified the Tims and all the rest are irrelevant. It’s the same as the Daily Retard, just effin ignore it!!!

Cool more, I agree with you to an existent on this side being better overall than previous years or eras. However we lack outstanding almost world class individuals such as Henrik Larsson, Brian McClair, Judas, Cadette. Notice all are forwards and more or less each decade. So far we have been without a similar main striker for over 7 years. In most of those cases we had an almost as good partner to help out in Hartson, Sutton, Pierre! Di Canio! Andi Thom ? Rambo who don’t forget went on to Aston Villa and Bayern.

Back to middle we are almost there and on a par as we now don’t have sieve contributors. All internationalists at the back with good nations. The middle of the park could still be improved though with a good hard working box to box midfielder with a bit of height and a goal scoring touch!

A good striker is hard to find with our resources as they are a precious commodity. I worry that we will never get another one as good as Henrik.

Not suggested any individual gets banned, just some subject matter. If any individual can’t live with that and removes themselves from the forum, I suggest that a great many of us would be delighted.

As I said previously, see you in Las Vegas next year at the Convention and you can assess me then rather than taking wild and inaccurate guesses on a blog.

A post about football about Celtic Observations on current situation.. Not a comment. Not a response. Debate about why people no longer participate? Someone referred to the site recently as some sort of gentleman’s club. Perhaps not far wrong. Back to lurking.

Thanks my friend. Every six months or so I get really p£ssed off with the sanctimonious, non football related preaching, and again I find it cathartic.

Also disappointed that I can’t get the same seat at Murrayfield this week as they are only selling seats in the lower tier initially. A crowd of 39,099 at first game – I expect more this time.As this is a football matter it’s ok to blog and complain !

    Its All about Celtic Yes..?

It certainly is. But the question remains, what is Celtic All about?

A club created to raise money to feed the poor and unfortunate. A club who by its very name attempts to bridge cultural and sectarian divisions. Surely that is about more than 11 players on a football pitch?

Such a stance will inevitably lead to situations where a degree of circumspection would have been the wiser course, but I suppose it is better to have loved and have lost and all that.

All in my humble opinion of course.
