Scouted, background checked and experienced, Ajeti should succeed

872

Negotiations for Albian Ajeti have gone on for weeks but as you and I have said often enough, it is important to get your first choice.  Too often we end up with a player from well down the list, who did not do enough to overwhelmingly convince anyone.  That is not the case with Ablian.

The player was scouted for a move last year before his ill-fated time in London.  He is known to the manager, who will have sounded out Mohamed Elyounoussi for an assurance on things that are not evident from the stands.

Having played over 170 games, he is also more experienced than many we have signed over the last decade.  This is why we missed out on him a year ago, he was caught on the EPL radars and West Ham made what was for them a cheap acquisition.

These factors make Albian’s prospect of succeeding at Celtic higher than most recruits.  It is a pity he will not have some game time this weekend; let’s hope he is fit for this month’s challenges.

RC, In my opinion, Oliver Ntcham, did not help his 1st team selection cause, when it came out all over

the press, that he was looking for a Transfer.

must have missed that, don’t believe everything you read from MSM.

I know RC, however a lot of our Supporters did, back in the Summer of 2018.

  2. its amazing how when boli boli and julien were announce as new signings and bloggers gave me a hard time for voicing my opinion after only 2 games about how poor both players are , that they are now suggesting that our weakest part of the team is our defence , dearie dearie.

  3. Not a popular opinion on here, but I would attempt to sign Scott McKenna.

He is only 23, stagnating and would cost <£2 million.

I believe he has previously shown he has the raw ability.

With training and the correct coaching we could develop him into a defensive stalwart for many years.

    It's all about opinions.

    HH.

  4. AKBW,

When they played Bayern, the tie was won, training excersize for the Germans with big games coming up.The Aberdeen game was dreadful, they had 2 shots on target,Aberdeen,no strikers.St Mirren,St Johnstone at Ibrox, what you would expect. They really have had no challenge yet.We have seen it all before.Long, long way to go.Keep the faith.

  5. The hand of God on

I see the Celtic V KR Rekjavik match appears to be available to view on the Livescore app.

RC…I believe Julien to be a valuable member of our defence but believe he needs a hardened centre half alongside him preferring a 3 at the back for most SPL games.

Forgot to mention in my roll of dishonour…John Swinney plus Alex Salmond, the man who bent over for dumbo Trumpo…

Anyway, over and out re politicians…

Perhaps RC, they were wanting you to be a bit more patient.

Yeah Boli-Boli has turnout to be a nightmare-nightmare signing, & here is Me thinking that Tebly, who was

a total bomb scare @ the back, could we not find a worse player, then along comes bombscare-bombscare-

bombscare, part two. As for C.Jullien, he could become a good defender, providing he keeps his opinions to

himself, with the media, by not motivating other oppisitional players in what he has to say, & he also has to

cut out the casualness & nonsense when defending take no prisoners CJ.

  9. The hand of God on

An Tearmann….yeah I was in Seville in November and was talking to some Betis fans about him…believe he managed both of the Seville clubs great mural dedicated to him in Belfast

  10. CB’s like Virgil are very rare these days, other types like Chiellini, who attack every ball are very difficult to come by,not comparing Duffy to him but he is a guy who takes responsibility for high balls.Man City have spent hundreds of millions on defenders, and a no nonsense, clear the ball CB Denayer was outstanding. I would push the boat out for him, in the sense that at 28,and a 4 year deal, would leave little resale value, which is not our typical transfer style. We are too small at the back,if we have Duffy, Ajer, and Jullien in a back 3,that would do for me.

I will TurkeyBhoy, & Trophies are not handed out @ the end of August apart from the

League Cup, trophies are normally handed out @ the end of May.

  12. RC,

If you were forming an opinion after 2 games, its no wonder you were shot down by other posters.Really sums up a lot of our fans.Did you offer to drive them to the airport after those 2 games,by any chance.

You want fantastic CHs,you pay fantastic money.Still no sure thing.Ajer is so bad,the transfer talk for him is around 20-25 million.Jullien playing his 1st season, won, probably the Treble, played in 2 wins against Lazio, and was CH in the team that topped our group.Cant be that bad.Couple of bad games cancels everything else out, does it.Varane,100 million CH,from Madrid, just chucked two into the net, knocking his team out of the CL.It happens.Voted in the top 3 CHs in France last season, with by far,the most headed clearances.Yep,a dud.

You are right Bada Bing, Greg Taylor & Jeromy Frimpong are too short @ the back, & are more suited in going forward. If & I mean If, our Club was too push the boat out a little bit, like speculate too accumilate & bring in Sean Duffy then it would give us strength & stabillity @ the back & we could play

    3-5-2 more easy as well.

  14. BY the way,Big Borna Barisic,is not for sale, not now,not ever.Even if you offer us 30 million,he is going nowhere.Be told ,once and for all,he is going nowhere. Not now,not ever. You can all bid as much as you like, wasting your time.

  15. On the subject of Julienne, I thought he had a terrific first season, I think many are jumping on a couple of howlers Lyndon Dykes and the other week against Killie … he had plenty of very good games last season, and actually a decent goal return for a centre half … but over a number of seasons and and a number of managers our defence get very little protection from the players in front of them … individual errors will always happen but even big Virgil would get exposed the way we set up

  16. Lets face it Folks, we as a Club have too many outfield players, & not enough solid &

natural defenders @ the back, a problem which has been going on, (ongoing) for

quite some time now, which needs to be addressed, asap.

  17. Ah, So RC is actually Ron, I thought the RC stood for Roman Catholic.

Ron what you actually said about Julien & Boli was we were buying 2 pigs in a poke.

I thought that was funny and made up a little ditty to rhyme with Da doo ron ron.

Since then you seem determined to prove you were right.

Obviously you were 100% correct with Boli but I think you should lay off Julien.

He can’t play on plastic & does need a hard man partner but he is a very decent centre half and presents a good goal threat from set pieces at the other end.

I think Ajer has gone back a bit, he is a midfielder converted to a Defender , I would like a new centre half & move Ajer into midfield.

However I feel the ship has sailed, I reckon Ajer will not sign a new contract & I reckon he wants to try his luck elsewhere.

  18. Today’s special from the rags.

HIBS OWNER NOT AGAINST POINTS DEDUCTION FOR CELTIC AND ABERDEEN.

    How bad does it get.

That effin’ linesman in the Killie St. Johnstone game yesterday is a shameless money-grabbing hun who couldn’t give a toss about anyone except himself…

A lot of times, we give the ball away too cheaply, in the final third of the playing surface.

A matter which needs addressed, asap, when in training, our decision making has to be

a lot better when we have the ball.

  21. Only a day late but never mind — fairplay to CS for putting the boot into the useless Nats / SG regarding their shameless grandstanding on the CoViD19 tribulations of the SPFL.

One rule for them / one rule for evertone else.

Sturgeon’s original comments on the Sheep players was bad enough.

But the repeated commenst about players being role models — barrel scraping.

She was happy to try and excuse a 50 year old techie / professional who has made progress up the greasy pole in the field of public policy development / looking good standing at a lectern and spouting lines like an 8 year old in a school play.

But she is happy to put the boot into a 25 year old who cannot defend a cross ball and couldn’t get a beachball of a wean in a telephone box — he is now the reason for Scottish care home catastrophe by all accounts.

And then you have all the referee analogies and her pips squeaking with a lot of patronising tripe.

Jason Leitch — their is a reason why his nickname is “Bubbles” …

He is so out of his depth in a global pandemic that all you came see are the bubbles on the surface.

So CS — aka TEG — please take a bow.

  22. GFTB,

Exactly right. If you watch us sometimes,it must be terrifying to be our CH.Both full backs,in the other half when teams break on you..When corners, free kicks come into our box,we have 2 big guys, against 4 or 5 big opponents.Duffy would be good.

  23. AKBW, Must take a break from Blog for a couple of hours but will you stop calling Duffy Sean, you did it in earlier post but I thought it was a typo but you are at it again.

FFS Lenny could be lurking, we don’t want him signing the wrong Duffy.

  24. Not happy about the way the MF is being set up.

SB is 35 and it shows — we should have had an exit plan in place 3 years ago.

Plus if we can’t make a player out of ON then we are the issue not him.

If he goes for big money then what does that say about us not playing him?

Also what would be our best 11 from the youth / U20 / reserve squad?

Who have we got and how would they be set up?

From memory we have some good players but in recent seasons this has been followed by 12 months of hibernation / a six month loan / move to a local Championship side.

  25. Turkeybhoy 2.00pm

Some fans (quite rightly) moan about our home record in Europe and reference MON’s record … Martin had Neil Lennon & Paul Lambert (or whoever if they weren’t playing) protecting ourselves three giant centre halves … the Huns haven’t lost a goal yet as they have two midfielders sitting and protecting their centre halves, I do agree with most that at times Ajer & Julienne are far too soft so a Duffy or McKenna type to command the defence would be good …. I mention McKenna as he was mentioned earlier plus it will get Bada Bing shouting at his laptop/phone, as I don’t think he rates big McKenna :-)

This could be another players Agent rumour, for looking @ a big pay rise for K. Ajer.

When RD signed him, he was a midfield player, so therefore he is not a natural defender.

Ajer, should not get ahead of himself, he grapples/hands on players too many times for

my liking as a defender which needs to be cut out of his play, he is certainly not the finished

article as a defender, that’s for sure.

Don’t worry CorkCelt, I’m sure if Lenny was lurking on here, he would know who we are all

    & He is a “Defender”

SMcK — would he get the level of coaching that he needs at CP?

We are very thin on coaching quality at CP at the moment.

NL — he is not a 5 days a week tracksuit on type of manager.

JFK — CFC wrapping paper when RD turned up.

GS — one man brains trust?

Looking very thin on coaching talent on paper and the team on the park is playing like it all too often.

Fair & True Assessment MadMitch, you have hit the nail on the Head.

What we as a Club, should be looking @ other Club’s coaching methods.

For example, Bayern Munchen, who’s coaching methods is very detailed & efficient.

We should be also looking @, strengthening in that Department of our Club as well.
