Scouted, background checked and experienced, Ajeti should succeed

872

Negotiations for Albian Ajeti have gone on for weeks but as you and I have said often enough, it is important to get your first choice.  Too often we end up with a player from well down the list, who did not do enough to overwhelmingly convince anyone.  That is not the case with Ablian.

The player was scouted for a move last year before his ill-fated time in London.  He is known to the manager, who will have sounded out Mohamed Elyounoussi for an assurance on things that are not evident from the stands.

Having played over 170 games, he is also more experienced than many we have signed over the last decade.  This is why we missed out on him a year ago, he was caught on the EPL radars and West Ham made what was for them a cheap acquisition.

These factors make Albian’s prospect of succeeding at Celtic higher than most recruits.  It is a pity he will not have some game time this weekend; let’s hope he is fit for this month’s challenges.

Big Barkas was my top pick in Jobo’s competition, he wasn’t up against much but didn’t put a glove wrong

Jamesy will need to keep on his toes, but he has been doing that for season after season … hope his “bro” puts a visible performance in for Livvy today.

JF, perfect performances Season after Season, GFTB, you must be just watching the highlights on

the TV. JF has not been outstanding Season after Season, when was the last time JF was awarded

player of the Season? I rest my point. I agree with MadMitch, a wee kick in the botty, will do JF the

    world of good.

Have a wee gander at his goals return and goals assists over a number of seasons … fair play if you disagree, I rate him and actually don’t care if others don’t … if he is that bad who would you replace him with ????

    Rhetorical question … :-)

We are not saying JF is a bad player, the point we are making, is that he does not produce enough

of his better performance’s, most of the time for us. For example, a while back I was watching JF

playing for Scotland @ Hampden, he scored two goals that night, & was player of the match.

Why can’t he do the same for us, more regularly? When was the last time JF was awarded player

The sheer stupidity and ignorance in questioning or statistically most effective player should not be lost on some.

But to question that we should not be happy with his form after two matches including a fine performance in a 5-1 win is breathtaking.

    20th May 2020 celticbynumbers@btinternet.com 12 Comments

The 9 was achieved with 116 players over 334 matches. These are the men behind the 9.

    One

There has to be a leader in the appearance list and that is captain Scott Brown. Not only did he appear in all 9 title campaigns, he leads on appearances with 256, 34 more than any other player and one of only two players over 200.

Averaging over 28 appearances per title he never made less than 17 (2012/13).

Brown should surely be considered a giant of this football club for all time.

    Two

There were two men who played more than 200 times for Celtic across all 9 campaigns. Brown led the field in more ways than one, but after that comes one of our own. James Forrest has appeared in 222 matches averaging 24.7 appearances per title, and never appearing less than 15 times.

Forrest has blossomed with age and in the last three campaigns has 96 appearances, 29 goals and 35 assists.

He looks like being a one club Bhoy and only 1 player has had more Scoring Contributions (goals and assists) than his 116.

future years to come. So when was the last time JF was awarded by our Club’s

James, 2 assists and 2 on target shots saved by the keeper in the hamilton game, but hey he doesnt do enough.

as to consistency and effort, you would need to be really stupid not to see how he has improved over time.

    The Men Behind The Nine

LazyDynamite, JF a Celtic Legend, well that is your opinion, until I see him on the Canvas

around our Stadium stating “Where Legends Are Made” then I for one does not agree

with your view on JF. He is still a young man, who can prove himself as a Legend, in the

Jamesie is a fantastic footballer with some terrific skills. Unfortunately, when the going gets tough, he quite often turns into a wee scared lassie who’s feart to get her tights ripped.

If he can ever sort that side of his game then hopefully he could well become a Celtic legend. For me at the moment, he goes into hiding too often and frustrates the thrupny bits out of me when we need someone like him to step up and take the game by the scruff of the neck

  26. Zero chance of the huns not getting 3pts today.

More chance of Rocket Ronnie not winning his 6th world championship.

They will probably be good enough to get a goal or two in the second half but IF not they will be given a soft penalty or dodgy call to get them over the line…FACT
