Scouted, background checked and experienced, Ajeti should succeed

872

Negotiations for Albian Ajeti have gone on for weeks but as you and I have said often enough, it is important to get your first choice.  Too often we end up with a player from well down the list, who did not do enough to overwhelmingly convince anyone.  That is not the case with Ablian.

The player was scouted for a move last year before his ill-fated time in London.  He is known to the manager, who will have sounded out Mohamed Elyounoussi for an assurance on things that are not evident from the stands.

Having played over 170 games, he is also more experienced than many we have signed over the last decade.  This is why we missed out on him a year ago, he was caught on the EPL radars and West Ham made what was for them a cheap acquisition.

These factors make Albian’s prospect of succeeding at Celtic higher than most recruits.  It is a pity he will not have some game time this weekend; let’s hope he is fit for this month’s challenges.

Get the 2m to Brighton today as they might sell dunk for 40m this week

    Get it done now

  2. I had a nice wee “Treble” win with the Bookies yesterday, while having a quiet sober day at home.

I had Livy to beat the Huns 2-1…Stake money returned as it was a boring 0-0 draw ( Bet365).

I had Seville to beat M. Utd…2-1 at odds of 10/1.

On Saturday I place a ” Correct Score” on the snooker final…with O’Sullivan to beat Wilson 18-8…at odds of 16/1.

When I say “Treble”..I do mean three single bets obviously, but with the Huns failing to win, it made it a nice weekend.

I also do NOT need anyone on here or elsewhere to tell me NOT to have bets with MY Money with my bookie…I am a grown man…and reasonably sane….sane ?….well sometimes FFS !

I will be having a few beers Today in my local in celebration….my 1st ever snooker bet and I get a 16/1 winner ….this gambling lark is so easy.

    LOL

  3. Favourite Uncle

I wouldn’t guarantee seeing the game in Dublin in a pub with current restrictions possibly extending today

Murray’s at the top of O’Connell St is right beside Parnell Sq. Sorts pub rather than Celtic pub but you can get a tv on if you ask(thankfully no English game on)

You need to buy food to get in the pub and 1h 45mins max time

Nearest Celtic pub (only one in town ) is Bad Ass Cafe in Temple Bar. 15 to 20min walk from Parnell(down O’Connell, over bridge, turn right at palace bar and walk to temple bar SQ)

Best to phone and check they are open and pre book table

Not a great story but we are officially not supposed to be at pubs to watch games right now

I am locked in Kildare and wfh again this week.

  4. I really do NOT any win at the bookies or any other excuse to go to a Pub for several Beers…I do it…. cos I like it !

NO Wummin to tell me what to do…or what not to do….this “Single” Life is the only way…For me anyway. All the best to those Bhoys who have found their Life Partners….but I guess its not for me ?

I have tried it so many times…and failed….its good to be “King” in your own home !

    LOL.

  5. Morning all from a very overcast Largs. In spite of the change in weather, my mood has improved a great deal after that result yesterday ( and what I saw of it on Sportscene). I guess I am easily pleased but pleased I am.

  6. Good Morning all

I fair enjoyed the European results, and the spluttering, stuttering commentators with their smug superiority guff shoved back up their jacksies.

Oh, and Bayern were absolutely awesome.

Agree that we need to get Duffy signed ASAP, whether loan (DD time to pony up a la Robbie and Roy), or permanent deal. Just get it done before the EPL madness kicks in with Dunk.

Thanks for info .Not for me but tim on E TIMS.

  9. Big tough left back .huge extra tough centre half and the boy Templeton. And say hello to the ten

  10. Apart from his usual shows of petulance etc, Morelos also couldnt wait to take off his black armband as he was being subbed….and then throwing it to someone just before he sat in the stand.

The black armbands were worn by Sevco players in respect of their former player dying last week ( Tam Forsyth ).

I can only imagine that as it was obviously 0-0 when Moreleos was being subbed and he had played crap….many Hun fans in their homes or Pubs wouldnt have been too happy with him being in such a rush to take off the black armband ?

As per usual…He really thinks that it’s ” All about HIM ” ?

    What a Chump !

I didnt see him doing his throat cutting gesture despite “His” game being over !

I am STILL raging with Boli…as he has made winning the magic 10…even harder for Celtic imho.

I hadn’t noticed in the news Tom Forsyth had died.

    71. Too young.

That makes Morelos’ reaction still more disrespectful. And that won’t have gone unnoticed by the bers. They might turn on him soon. It’s in their nature.

  12. Please, please,no more talk of Shane Duffy today.Lets wait and see.We have offered Hickey a deal, and big game tomorrow night.Much more relevant at the moment.

  13. Dreich here in Corcaigh but quite the spring in the step as I saunter back with the dogs……..

  14. Hope some of our more nervous fans can relax now knowing that its all still very much in our own hands.

I’ve missed Celtic and look forward to a nice wee run of victories.

  15. Turkeybhoy,

In a defining season what’s the point in signing Hickey? He isn’t first team material. Buy him and send him back.

We need an ‘oven ready’ LB now.

Tomorrow night will take care of itself. We are overwhelming favourites.

  16. Apologies to all for my incorrect post on the Crucible capacity!

LAZYDYNAMITE and HOT SMOKED, when you get to my age you can be sure of, err, not much!

    Sorry!

  17. ALMORE are you up and ready for another day.Someone on ELECTRONIC TIMS needs your help.

Yeah, I’m up. Best place to watch it will be Bad Ass Café in TempleBar, about 15 min walk from Parnell Square. A meal may have to be booked for entry.

Murrays in O Connell St, a hundred yards from Parnell monument may also show it. Ordering a meal to get access to pubs is the norm here now.

  18. There appears to be a couple of big Clubs looking at Hickey apart from ourselves.

Presumably their scouts know less than the average CQN’er.

Sorry, don;t understand the snarky response here? Is he the upgrade on Taylor needed for this year as a first teamer? Not that I’ve seen but hey all those big teams who hoover up young talent to see them disappear do it due to the numbers game (unearth 1 in probably 10)…

Look, Aaron Hickey turned 18 last month and he isn’t the finished article.

It’s over from him. The quality of a player aged 16/17 is representative of the next 18 or so years of his career.

Don’t worry Philbhoy…I spend the majority of my life getting facts pretty wrong!!..lol

Lets just hope we get celtic supporters back in paradise really soon.

  22. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

Scania – thank you and Lil’ze for the Bobby Murdoch montage.

    Brilliant.

    What a player.

Heartbeat of the Lions is not an overindulgent statement.

In the 80s I used to laud Paul McStay’s talent.

My late father would say Paul is a great player … but Bobby Murdoch was much better.

    Hail hail

    Keep The Faith

  23. Been watching th gree Tic since 1961. Bobby Murdoch is the best player I’ve ever seen gracing the hoops. He had it all. What a magnificent player he was.

  24. From the very outset I adored Bobby. Neilly Mochan, Paddy Crerand, Bobby Collins were my first Heroes but Bobby was something else!

Btw – the accompanying music was my first ever single. Synchronicity or what!

  25. I’m neutral on whether we sign Hickey. At 18 he doesn’t come into the category of young talent being hoovered up by Big Club Academies.

Was recently given tour of Bologna facilities, interest from outside Scotland is real, these guys know a bit about Football as do Hammond & Lenny.

If Lenny wants him that will be good enough for me.

Like everyone else I’d be more excited if we signed David Colina from Hajduk Split but I was also excited when we signed Bolingoli, sometimes we can be too dismissive of players on our doorstep.

My point is guys who know Football a lot better than us rate Hickey, he knows the SPFL, he knows Celtic, there would be no acclimatizing to a new Country, he would be ready to go.

Is he good enough ? The Jury is out for me, at 18 I wouldn’t write him off, so for me if Lenny wants him then that’s good enough for me.

  26. Bobby Murdoch: as I’ve said more than once on here- Jock Stein said “when Bobby plays, Celtic play”. In my 70 years, I have seen greats from Bobby Evans to Lubo to Scott Brown and Bobby is, imo, the best of all. Bobby had everything.

  27. it would be a no re the hearts left back from me, injury/fitness concerns and not any better than what we currently have.

  28. Hickey will probably choose Bayern and I don’t blame him. The Bayern “colts” team play in the third tier of German football so he will likely get first team experience while remaining at an elite club.

Some of the Bayern Munich 2 side train with the first team part of the week so that would be a massive attraction.

  29. RC on 17TH AUGUST 2020 11:27 AM

Aaron Hickey played 30 games for Hearts last season. That’s the majority of their games considering the only completed 30 in the league.

He isn’t an injury concern. He only missed a handful due to injury.

  30. This is a Scandal and a warning on what can happen to clubs that are the whim of an owner:- (from the BBC)

“Wigan Athletic’s owner enquired about putting them into administration before he had even completed his takeover.

Hong Kong-based Au Yeung Wai Kay spoke to insolvency practitioners Begbies Traynor about the prospect on 23 June.

Gerald Krasner, who is leading the Latics’ attempts to find a buyer, was alerted to the situation the following day given its seriousness.

It was also on 24 June that Kay told the English Football League he had bought a 51% stake in the club.

The written reasons for the failure of Wigan’s appeal against a 12-point deduction for the club going into administration were made public by the EFL on Monday.

As a result of the deduction, Wigan dropped to 23rd in the Championship and have been relegated to League One, with administrators being forced to sell a number of players in order to meet wages for June and July.

Hopes that a new buyer would be confirmed by 31 July proved to be unfounded. The administrators have put a 31 August deadline on the present process, heightening fears that the club will go bust.

A number of potential purchasers remain in talks with the administrators but with Wigan scheduled to play an Carabao Cup first-round tie on 5 September, clarity is required over the future funding of the club.”
