4 April 2001, you would not believe the tension in the stadium when Dundee visited Celtic Park. Post-match, Martin O’Neill chastised us for being so edgy before a Johan Mjallby goal six minutes from time secured the points. Winning that game, meant Celtic could win the title at home to St Mirren a few days later, not with only a few thousand Celtic fans in attendance at the subsequent away game. What Martin didn’t appreciate, was that being there when the event happened was vital to the supporters. Winning leagues was something of a rarity for Celtic fans back then.
Tonight, many of us will feel that being there to see Martin O’Neill’s final game as Celtic manager is equally important. We will see the departure of not just a great manager, but one of a small band of people who are genuine Celtic royalty.
After Dundee’s deserved win over Celtic in October, they went on a four-game losing streak, scoring once and conceding nine goals to Falkirk, Hearts, Newco and Hibs. Whatever was wrong before Martin’s arrival, it had enormous consequences. Steven Pressley’s side arrested that decline by coming from behind to beat St Mirren 3-1 on Saturday. That elevated Dundee above the team from Paisley, who slipped into the relegation play-off spot.
The script is written for a statement Celtic win ahead of the visit of league leaders Hearts on Sunday. Martin, though, knows that scripts are not always followed. This is a game he will want to win as much as you and I wanted that result back in 2001.

Part 3 from the Times;
Dudfield says the claims that the syndicate stopped using Cottrell’s accounts were “false” and “fraudulent”, and that Bloom and the syndicate have benefited from “unjust enrichment” by cutting him out of his 7 per cent share of the profits. Cottrell is alleged to have already made an estimated $85million (£64million).
Dudfield claims after he introduced the syndicate to Cottrell that it placed bets using the aide’s accounts on Stake.com, a gambling site based on the Caribbean island of Curaçao which is not authorised to operate in the UK. It is not unlawful for US gamblers to place bets on unregulated sites.
Cottrell describes himself on LinkedIn as a “political adviser and strategist” who was deputy treasurer of UKIP during the EU referendum campaign in 2016 and The Brexit Party in 2019, and served as a senior adviser to Farage.
Cottrell was arrested in 2016 after attending the Republican National Convention, where Donald Trump won the party’s nomination for president. He pleaded guilty to wire fraud after offering advice to undercover federal agents in Las Vegas, posing as drug traffickers, on “ways criminal proceeds could be laundered” on the dark web. He served eight months in prisons in Arizona and Illinois.
Cottrell has signed a deal to co-write a book titled How to Launder Money, which is described by the publisher as a “unique insiders’ guide to money laundering — and how to stop it”. He started placing bets at the age of 12, and has admitted being so addicted to gambling that he once took a Harvey Nichols bag stuffed with £50,000 cash into a William Hill bookmakers’ and lost it all. He is reported to have once lost $20million in a single poker game.
His father, Mark, went to Gordonstoun School with Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and his mother, Fiona, a former glamour model, was romantically linked to Prince Charles in the 1970s. His mother is the biggest donor to Reform, contributing £250,000 in March to take her total to £750,000 over the past year.
Cottrell was privately educated on Mustique, the Caribbean island, and later at Malvern College. He divides his time between London and Montenegro.
Bloom has declined to comment. Both Cottrell and his lawyers have also been approached for comment. The FA will not respond while legal proceedings are in progress.
See Scotland and Ireland are in the same group for the Rugby Union WC Finals in 2027.

Nancy will be watching tonight’s game in Dermot’s luxury London penthouse with champagne, caviar and party girls.
If Hearts draw tonight, Celtic need a 5 goal victory to go top.
If Hearts lose, any win puts us up there.
Who’d win in a fight between the Nancy Bhoys and the Billy Boys?

How long before we see a “Nancy Bhoys Mystery” headline?
Anyone remember the Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew TV series with Pamela Sue Martin?

Tend to agree with B2B Hearts will bounce back with a win tonight, which if we also win will set up a TOTP bash on Sunday. First victory and then bid farewell
St Stivs I doubt that Dermot will be worried about that loss. If he had put that money in an investment with an average 5% return he would have £140 million. Money doesn’t make you happy. Celtic winning tonight does.
Rangers coach Sascha Lense has revealed he was forced to change the colour of his car
“I would describe myself as derby-experienced,” he said.
“I was on the bench for Dortmund vs. Schalke, Man United vs. Liverpool, and the Steel Derby in Sheffield between United and Wednesday. But there’s simply no getting around the Old Firm; it’s hard to beat.
“I had ordered a leased car, a green Mini Cooper, just as it was advertised. Immediately, they said, ‘You can’t drive that, nobody drives green here.’ I actually had to exchange it. Now I have a black one.”
Still no green and white straws either?
Sid and Nancy….🤔😩
It’s quite correct Nancy doesn’t appear on the scene tonight.
This is MON’a night.

I have asking every Celtic fan I know,if they know,or have read,or heard in any Media, the names of the two Shareholders, who threatened the Head of Security,at the AGM.Both previously known to the Celtic Board.I mean there must have been action taken.Police being called, whatever. Not a thing.Nothing reported anywhere.
Does nobody find this strange. An open goal tap in for the Board to try and discredit the GB further, yet nothing.

Celtic Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Wilfried Nancy as its new Football Manager on a two-and-a-half year contract. Wilfried will begin his new role on December 4, 2025.
Wilfried joins Celtic from MLS club, Columbus Crew, where he lifted the MLS Cup and the Leagues Cup, as well as also being named the MLS Coach of the Year in 2024. Prior to that, he also won the Canadian Championship with CF Montreal in 2021.
Looking forward to his new role with real excitement, Wilfried commented: “I am so happy to be named Celtic Manager, it is a massive honour for myself and my family.
“Before I say anything else I want to do one thing – I want to thank the great Martin O’Neill and Shaun Maloney for all they have done in recent weeks with the team. The job they have done has been fantastic.
“These guys have given so much to the club across so many years and I know our fans, like me, all recognise the brilliant job they have done during this recent period. They have my total respect and my total gratitude. I hope to meet them both very soon and thank them personally.
“Now its up to me to carry on this great work and carry our great club forward and I can’t wait to get going and become part of such a brilliant institution. Celtic is one of the world’s proper football clubs, real atmosphere and heart and soul, real high standards and real demands, which I am ready for.
“I know the history, I know the values of Celtic and I know what is expected of me on this journey. I know what Celtic means to so many people and my No. 1 aim will be simple – to give our fans a strong, exciting, attacking, winning football team they can be so proud of.
“I look forward to seeing all our fans very soon and I hope we can enjoy some great moments together.”
Celtic Chairman Peter Lawwell commented: “We are really pleased to welcome Wilfried to Celtic. He is a Manager with a record which demonstrates the kind of football which we know Celtic supporters love to see. We will give Wilfried all our support as we look to once again bring success to our fans.
“I want to express our sincere thanks to Martin, Shaun and our backroom team for all they have done in recent weeks during this interim period. They have done such a tremendous job in stabilising the team and restoring a real level of confidence, with some fantastic results domestically and in Europe.
“Martin has shown the kind of leadership he was always renowned for and together with Shaun and the others in our backroom team they have given us that level of quality which has been so important to us in recent weeks. Everyone at the club offers our appreciation for the job they have done.”
Celtic Chief Executive Michael Nicholson added: “We have been aware of Wilfried and his quality of work for some time – he was our number one candidate when we began the process of appointing a new Manager and we are delighted that he as agreed to join the club.
“I know he is hugely excited about this opportunity to be part of Celtic’s future. We will give Wilfried every support to face the challenges ahead, with our aim as always being to deliver the success for the club which our supporters deserve, this season and beyond.
“I also want to thank Martin, Shaun, Mark Fotheringham and Stephen McManus for all they have done in recent weeks. They have shown such high levels of professionalism and commitment in supporting the club in a difficult moment and we will forever be grateful to them for the fantastic contributions they have all made.”
Celtic’s principal shareholder Dermot Desmond added: “In appointing Wilfried to Celtic, we believe we have brought a hugely talented Manager to the club. He is a man who absolutely understands the demands at Celtic, he is a man of real humility but also someone with his own ideas, his own vision and such a personal drive and desire to do well for the club and our supporters.
“Everyone at the club will unite strongly behind Wilfried as we move forward and we will ensure we will give him our unswerving support as we strive to achieve our objectives.
“I want to add my heartfelt thanks to Martin for all he has done in recent weeks. He was the man we hoped could bring us through these last few weeks positively and together with Shaun and our other coaches and our players, they have done a wonderful job.
“I will always hold Martin in such high regard for what he has done for Celtic and for what he is as a man – a man of such professionalism and integrity and someone who undoubtedly will always have the best interests of Celtic in his heart.”
