Yesterday’s result at Ibrox gave some welcome encouragement but it would be wrong to read too much into it. Rangers still have the kind of lead that would have Celtic thoroughly confident of a league win and, lest we forget, St Johnstone collected all three points from Celtic Park already this season.
The win at Inverness was much more important. The Highlanders are bottom of the league but that is a false position. Two points separate Hibs, Dunfermline, Aberdeen and Inverness, while Kilmarnock, who shipped six goals to Inverness at home two weeks ago, are only a further two points away. Even with 10 men Inverness remained well organised yesterday, don’t be surprised if they move ahead of the four teams above them in the weeks to come.
The league is remarkably tight from fourth place St Johnstone to bottom Inverness, where fewer points separate the teams than split Celtic and Rangers. Don’t, therefore, be surprised if points are dropped in the most unlikely places.

Sorry for the delay in responding – it was dinner time.
In true, “I’m-a-Hun-but-here’s-my-seat-number-at-CP,” stylee, I’m in the Jock Stein Upper, which is about as far away from the Green Brigade section as you can get.
I also don’t get to a lot of games, as I’ve got a young family and live a 14 hour round trip away, so my last match was against Dundee Utd back in August. Unless my memory is playing tricks on me, I seem to remember a few muted, “Up the Ra’s,” but I can’t remember any BOTOB’s or Sean Souths.
So I can’t tell you what, if any, rebel songs have been sung at Celtic Park in the past month or two, although there don’t seem to be many people disputing that, “Up the RA,” was sung by a few people at recent games.
Anyway, all I’ve done today is add my tuppenceworth to the great songs debate – for me, not at Celtic Park.

kojo,
ma excuse is I am marked out as a second class citizen bcause of my heritage and race, in the country of birth, I’m told its something I should be ashamed of in scotland, where Celtic play remember.
The reason so many on here are discussing it is simply because there is a high proportion of the Celtic support who are told the same thing and they dont like it either.
Also the club/supporters are being vilified publicly and defending the club/support is something I take seriously as it affects my freedom, agreed football is the primary reason we are here, but this does affect our club/support in particular.

Let me see where we are now. We have had the poppy debate, (I’ll never buy or wear another one), the songs debate, (Can’t promise I’ll never sing them), the IRA debate, (two of them on trial at Antrim Crown Court this week) and now the flags debate, (I don’t need the Saltire or the Lion Rampant to prove I am Scottish, but own both, and quite like the Celtic Saltire). Anybody know which way the wind blows?
The highlights from yesterday are now on the BBC website.
Just had a look at the EPL table.
Goal Difference…..Man City 34, Man Utd 17, Newcastle 7, Chelsea 8.
Glad I backed them for the League.

There are a few who dispute what follows the Ooh Aahs . From my position alongside te GB section I’m hearing ooh aah UP THE CELTS. That night v Rennes.
The GB have changed the words. If you had been following the posts on here you should have picked that up.
People(plod) are assuming that up the RA is being sung when it isnt.
That is why this complaint by Eddie the plod is questionable.
Have we heard from el ploddo what exactly the “illicit” chants were supposedto have been?
Celtic Mac,
How about the Victor Wanyama debate – centre half or defensive midfielder?
Celtic Mac says:

“the IRA debate, (two of them on trial at Antrim Crown Court this week)”
the IRA being debated is a completely different organisation to the one those two belong to.
just clarifying – I dont want the waters muddied.

You’ve just drove a bus through your previous argument about multiculturism not working mate.
I understand the point you think you’re making but it don’t sit with your earlier musings.
We are our conditioning. We are the sum of our parts. We are our past in transit. That’s not to say it defines our future.
It is a difficult area. But Celtic’s roots have never been a catalyst to exclusivity.

In todays Sunday times Sport section there is an article entitled something like “OLD FIRM Past discrepancies with UEFA”.
It then goes on to list 4 bullet points ALL detailing Rangers history of fines and bans for sectarian singing. Not one mention of Celtic
Does anyone subscribe and can put up a link?
Its quite an incredible article.

The English Premier League doesnt seem to have many English players in it .
Oh Ive just realised we dont have many Scots playing for Celtic.
The BBC highlights have omitted the, if my memory serves, 3 or 4 shocking tackles by ICT players throughout the game. That Shinnie should have been off instead of picking up his first yellow. And the boot in the haw maws Danny took was assault…

Defensive midfielder every time for me!
I see that the cyberhardman canalamadingdong is on again spreading his, ill thought out, mixture of lies, insults and accusations.
If one does not accede to his hyperbole and cyberbullying, he simply makes up his own story to suit his own aims, whatever they may be. Certainly not helpful to the Celtic supporting community IMO.
His latest ruse – “The Hun didnae pay their taxes so that means our soldiers not being equipped properly” is an utter nonsense as he and any other reasonable CQN er knows.
It is a total nonsensensical proposition.
We elect a government who we then entrust to use our taxes as they see fit. It is called democracy.
We do not pay taxes with a proviso that our cash can only be spent in certain ways.
If he, canam etc, gets his way, the Hun will be using it against us by the end of the week.
“Theres they fenians spreading lies aboot us killing the soldiers cause we didnae pay our taxes” etc etc, etc.
It is a ridiculous argument that he profers, then he follows it with a purile “if you don’t agree with me you must be somewhat inferior, stupid or just a Hun” comment much like the old playground conundrum, ” a homosexual jumped on your back would let him **^& you or would just ***$ him off” and just as offensive.
We do not need to make up stories to get annoyed at.
The Huns do that.
We do not need to spread falsehoods and lies about the Hun.
They do enough by themselves and their actions to allow us to see their true colours.
I do not like the Hun, but I have many friends who are not catholic or celtic supporters and maybe even prefer the team from Govan, to my first love, Celtic. It does not make them bad people, misguided certainly.
What I do not like more than the Hun, are extremist, self centred individuals, who (ab)use our club’s good name, our support’s good name, to make cheap, tawdry, fanciful, idiotic stories up to suit their own extreme politics.
Every lie they tell will come back to haunt the true Celtic supporter .
Canamalar you are that man, not Neil Lennon or a Hunskelper extrordinaire.
I condemn Rangers for not paying their taxes.
I condemn Rangers for the their support of the sectarian nature of a large number of the fans.
I condemn Rangers for abusing Rememberance Day, Minutes silences etc to score mini points at the expense of the memories of young men and women’s lives.
These are real reasons to condemn Rangers.
Not made up extremist viewpoints not fitting of a true Celtic supporter.

Kojo – On the button!
I was born in England to an English mum, Scots dad and Irish grandparents. When we moved to Glasgow when I was 3 my Dad took me to see the Celtic, then, as with you all hooked!! I am proud of my club’s begiinings, and why it was formed and really proud of our sucesses. Like most of you I assume, I went to matches as I got older with my mates, first in the Celtci end, then the jungle and belted out Merry Poughboy with the rest of them. But I was a follower and feel most who also sang these songs were the same, it was all part of the match “thing”. I wouldn’t now but belive the soldiers song, fields of athenry are appropriate and reflect our heritage
In all this debate about Irish and Catholic, and Scottis and Catholic we better be careful. A large number of our support are neither Irish or Catholic and we may be alienating current fans and future fans of our beloved club; Just my uneducated view

My thoughts are that if you refute multiculturism then you embrace exclusivity.
How can you poo poo Celtic’s heritage and roots without embracing a supporters multiculturism?

Big Vic should be defensive midfielder, playing alongside Joe Ledley. The platform to get us back into the league title race.
Not a bad option as emergency centre half, like Mulgrew he is actually better than our so called specialist centre halfs.
Guys, I received a reply from my MSP JohnPentland regarding the destroyed data, this will be addressed by James Kelly who is the labour party justice spokesperson by a question in the Parliament, Salmond did not reply he got what appears to be a civil servant to reply who avoided the issue totally and went on about the governments commitment to eradicating secterianism, I replied to her stating that I did not find her reply of any use and she the gave me the crown office e-mail address which when I have e-mailed them has bounced back undelivered, to me a big organisation like the Roman Catholic church needs to be asking what has gone on here otherwise they will not tel ordinary peoplel what has happened.
I was also talking to some friends last night one of whom said that Celtic Park had the most arrests for football related crime 47, when I told him that 14 of these arrests were of Celtic supporters out of 1 million who have attended he was shocked that he has been misled by the media about this.We need to get the facts out every minute of every day until we get fair accurate reporting of these issues. Our PR is poor and if true our PR man is a Hearts fan get rid pronto and get someone in who will get the information out
The assault by Foran on Dan was identical to Scholes’ tackle against Man City in the English Cup Final.
Scholes got a straight red card with very little argument from tv pundits, Foran only got a yellow.
However, Butcher could be seen in the background complaining about the free-kick being awarded.
Maybe that’s why he is in the Scottish Hall of Fame.
