Season pivots. Gambling referees

175

As the second half progressed at Pittodrie, our season hung by a thread.  Aberdeen looked the more likely, Celtic were not making chances, it was difficult to see where a win was coming from.  A week earlier, we closed out the game against Dundee United better, without reward, but the winner arrived yesterday, courtesy of Tom Rogic, Adam Montgomery and the always-dangerous, Jota.

Kyogo’s return to league duty brought a reward within 11 minutes.  The Japanese icon steered a David Turnbull cross off his chest into the net.  It was an unconventional finish that should have set Celtic on course for a comfortable victory against an Aberdeen team that struggled to find a pass.

The home side came out a different team at halftime and took advantage of a perennial Celtic weakness to score from a corner kick.  Scott Brown almost doubled the damage from a subsequent corner, forcing an instinctive save from Joe Hart.

There is a points gap that does not really matter how much you will improve, you are going to struggle to pull off a recovery.  We have seen Celtic recover from more than 9 points behind much later than this in the season, but those were exceptional times.  We don’t want to go there again.

Teams that win leagues find ways to win games, even when they are struggling.  Celtic needed to do this yesterday.  When Jota got on the end of that cross, the season pivoted.

You can bet on which team will be awarded more fouls in some foreign betting markets.  The probity of our match officials and their resistance to the debt spiral gambling can bring should be monitored. Unfortunately, it is not.

The mood music at Ibrox is not good at all. If yesterday had gone as it was at half time I reckon the deckchairs would have been getting reshuffled.

No player revenue in, several contracts increased and no champions league revenue. Debts now being called in by investors including King.

Hearts are starting to believe and have no players of significance on international duty aside from the goalie. The Huns have a fair few.

When AP does a double substitution, we morph into Deila mode, nobody knows where they’re supposed to be playing

The double and triple substitutions do not inspire confidence in our game management.

If the huns look is if they’ll blow the league.

Ange will be given a brown envelope to publicly state on Celtic fc website that he’s had to leave because of “personal issues” whilst John Kennedy will take the reins as Celtic PLC take forever to search for a replacement for Ange.

Celtic fc have already proved beyond all doubt, that they are a huge creature of the toxic Scottish swamp.

Celtic fans who are unaware of, or deny that fact, are in need of a course of brutal, raw, and horrible lessons about what they invest their ticket money into, as obviously Celtic fc’s ham fisted performance on and off the pitch only last season, has seemed to fly over the heads of 53k fans !!!

straight red, worse than Porteous. 1970s tackle.

Jozo on Miller is the classic way to slide tackle with force but protect the opponent i.e. low, 1 foot, 100% on the football. Up to the other guy to tackle properly and hard or go up in the air as Kenny did

Only time will tell if ‘the season pivoted’ yesterday and whether we have ‘turned a corner’.

What I do know is that we have been playing 8-9 new players domestically this season. It’s a new team, learning a new philosophy which needs to learn to handle adversity and dig out results.

This doesn’t just arrive overnight when a new team is assembled. The best teams have usually gone through similar phases that is required in order to achieve team character and build resilience.

Hopefully yesterday is the starting point for this team too.

So if Celtic look like winning the league, Ange will be sacked to stop it happening. That’s what you’re telling us, right?

This is my 61st season as a Celtic supporter. I have been a season gicket holder for more than half that number.

I will not be put off from renewing my ST by a nomark like you, as evidenced by the absolutely moronic, brain-dead drivel highlighted above.

    Back to Basics

I am not sure if Maddens alleged significant gambling debts was ever a matter of public record. My understanding is that it was not deemed as an issue Re him continuing to referee in an impartial manner by the SFA despite questions being asked by Some clubs.

    —————————————————————————————-

From memory Paul had an article a few years ago (2017 or 2018 maybe?) alleging that Madden had gambling debts. There were news stories covering his bankruptcy case but curiously no mention of how we had amassed such substantial debts…

  11. Roger Mitchell letter to Dom MacKay should see him not ever be considered for the position.

    Juranovic Jullien Vickers Taylor

    Turnbull McGregor Montgomery

Mine is quite obvious except i’d like Monty playing in the left CM area with Taylor behind/inside him and Jota ahead. We get his drive and skill without making him a defender. Rogic drops out but can be impact player and Turnbull get on his better RHS. PS you have too many subs so you lose 0-3 (unless you ‘imperfectly’ registered them)😎

  21. Didn’t the Hibs manager have anything to say about that shocker of a tackle ? If Sportscene disgracefully didn’t include it then I can only assume that Gerrard himself has editorial control. He is beginning to talk and conduct himself like unashamed bigots such as Goram and big Broon. But I’m sure he’s proving a decent assistant to Beale, their real manager.

  22. Coneybhoy- From earlier. Yeh I get where your coming from with Monty.

Your team is a good shout. Regarding my subs, I should have said it was just who was left to pick a bench from.

I’ve got a lot of FAITH in Joto. He’s been AMAZING so far. He was unlucky when his shot went WHAM! off the bar. Fortunately, he was able to cut in from the OUTSIDE to get a bit of FREEDOM to have ONE MORE TRY just AS we were all PRAYING FOR TIME and give our fans who had been WAITING FOR THAT DAY when we won away to celebrate and finally HEAL THE PAIN of our away record.

I just wish I could remember the name of the singer he reminds me of!

    CCV and Julienne as cb.s.

Get McCarthy fit, then add Shaw, Calmac and Jota.

I’ve got Celtic minded psychological problems.

Winning the league this year will deny Ibrox £40 million European money.

That’s why Celtic walked off the pitch, effectively, last season when not long after summer transfer window closing, it was announced on the “fly” on Scottish media that “Ibrox needs £11 million to see out the season.”

If Celtic had won 10 in a row, and all of the propaganda that would’ve went with that success, [I think] that Ibrox fans would’ve boycotted their club, and they would also have missed out on the European £40 million, and an insolvency event would surely have follow followed !?!?

That’s why it became obvious for anyone who has a curious pair of eyes, that after that financial news from Ibrox was announced in a “discreet style” of reporting on broadcast Scottish media, it was almost with immediate effect that Celtic started to play terrible !?!?

How do you get a team to play terrible? Baffle the team with stupid team selections, and even more stupid tactics, and this will create a screwed up environment in the dressing room, and [I think] that this aligns with what Shane Duffy alluded to in what he described as “the crazy goings on behind the scenes” ?!?!

So Ibrox missed out on European £40 million group stage CL this season, after Celtic fc put the tools away last season to help them to get that desperately needed money [this year] by effectively throwing away the SPFL title last year. Confusing I know, but that is [convenient] confusion.

    Question is – at who’s convenience ?!?!

So Celtic to take the title back this year ?!?!

That [I think] will lead to an insolvency event at Ibrox, see above 👆 probably meaning that Ibrox will be missing from SPFL for maybe 5? years?

If so, [I think] like last time Ibrox was out of SPFL for 5 years, Celtic’s attendance figures will fall a lot when fans start to question 2 suspicious title losses to Celtic PLC’s cash strapped business partners don’t you think ?!?!
