In the immediate aftermath of defeat in Turin our manager was magnanimous towards his opponents, the television broadcaster and his players. Sky TV were thanked for their treatment of Celtic (note to others), Juventus were encouraged to win the Champions League, and Neil acknowledged some players may want to further their careers beyond Scotland.
Let’s be clear, most of the squad are happy at Celtic. Georgios Samaras could go anywhere in Europe but this Celtic team is his project, as much as it is yours or mine. Many of the others, including Matthews, Wilson, Lustig, Forster, Mulgrew, Commons, Ledley, Forrest and Izaguirre are settled at Celtic with plenty still to achieve.
Hooper and Wanyama have declined contract offers, so will be most likely to leave in the summer, but in the business Celtic are in right now, if they go, who they go to, is important. If we lose players to tier-one clubs it will make attracting others a whole lot easier. If you are a stepping stone to Barcelona, as with Larsson, you are a far more attractive employer than if you lose a striker to Norwich City (I’m friendly with a former Nigerian international who went on trial to Hamilton Accies the week after, and on the strength of, Brian Easton leaving there for the English Premier League).
Selling right makes it easier to buy who you want. Got to get the right price, keep them for the Champions League qualifiers, and make sure you sell to the right club.
See you at 7.30pm tonight at the Supporters’ Association Club on London Road for the Twists & Turns Celtic Supporters Club charity night. There will be Question and Answer session with me, John Fallon, Dixie Deans, Archie MacPherson, compared by Phil Agnew. Afterwards you can enjoy music from Foggy Dew.
Tickets are £10 and you can get them from Phil by calling 07811 178764. Profits are going to the Tommy Burns charity.

Celtic_First the cabin boys on here have questioned my sexuality, called me a racist, tried to bring my parents into the debate and challenged me to meet up face to face.
So it’s not six of them and half a dozen of me. Far from it.
I look forward to seeing the Celtic youngsters tomorrow.
Have a good time in Inverness and Dingwall those who are travelling. Lovely corner of the world. More so since the gathering place of the huns was closed down 2 years back. For not paying their taxes. Not reported in the MSM that one.
Well last night in Bowness-on-Windermere and off to the pub for food and beer.
As always I take the opportunity to explain to the English what Der Hun have been up to. There has been a number of folk this week who are totally shocked at what goes on in our wee land. The fine of a dead club is the best one though, total baffled looks!

Was someone not on here the other night criticising our support and here;s the media doing the opposite?
Couldn’t make it up

I missed your clarification/ apology. Easy to do on a mobile touch screen.
Had I seen it I would have responded differently.
You thought I had ignored you I thought you were questionnng those who are struggling with paying to watch a corrupt game.
That happens through this medium.
As someone who went to Seville (who didn’t?) and watched the game sober I can say this much:
Even at 2-2 , before Bobo was sent off and in spite of Henrik’s herculean efforts we were never going to beat Porto IMO.
Why? Because we had no answer to Deco……..a world class midfield playmaker who killed us every time he made the pass.
We have a good squad of young players who have proved they can compete and win into the CL last 16 but we need a midfielder of the calibre of Deco to progress further…….
Apprentices do the prep work…….the craftsman delivers the finished product.
Hoopers % looks impressive but doesn’t stand up to scrutiny…he plays against far weaker teams than the top 5 scorers ever did.
Its akin to saying Boyd is a better footballer than Henrik Larsson because he scored more goals………hellooooo
McGrory……speaks for itself
Deans………..regular scorer against all top level opposition
McClair………distinguished career with MU
Hoyjdonk……UEFA Cup winner at Feynoord
Larsson……..glittering career with Celtic, Barcelona and MU
Clearly Hooper has a ways to go………
kitalba @15:51. No. That’s three seperate questions. Are you digitally short?
kitalba @16:02. Thought that one up yourself did you?
Mr Anagram.
Youre blustering. Didnt I ask specifically for you not to do that.
I know you didnt accuse me of being a particular multi poster.
But you did still accuse me of being a multi poster. Therefore you must have suspected me of being someone else as well.
Now either answer the question or withdraw the accusation.
Oh and as for my weekend plans.
I have a really special family celebration planned. So I am extra chilled this weekend
I’m logging off.
And you are not man enough to meet a single one face to face.

Sorry if that you took that personally Auldheid it most certainly wasn’t directed at you
It was a general point
Fans for change is a very laudable attempt i hope it succeeds, i hope the Hibs fans certainly have success with the SFA vice president
Forget it it doesn’t matter, i hope you have continued success with your endeavours against the SFA
Apropos of not a lot, I watched a snail travel along a path today and what a slime trail it left in its wake… which reminds me, Ntassoolla, I hope your day is not too slimey if you know what I mean.

(Think I finally got that right)
Yup missed that and sorry I took out my annoyance on you at what is being done to our game by folk whom I believe are incompetent and unethical.
Oh and treat football supporters like idiots.

Take it easy m8, I’m on your side believe it or not.

Just a quick thank you for the link to the Gilt-Edged Justice article in your 5AM updates. It is the most insightful commentary I have read so far on justice in law. It may well be a good starting point to test the outcome of the comic commission. Is there some background available on “glastnoststriker” e.g. professional qualifications?

Apologies, I did not mean to in any way belittle you, (in any way, I’ve never done it before and I won’t do it tomorrow) but I’d rather stand by myself and my own convictions, I am more comfortable that way and I look forward to meeting green huns (not you) who have a problem with that. I’d love to meet those green huns face to face because I love a good laugh.
I see Carnaptious Quick News are having their AGM today.

Blah, blah etc…..
The board / bored etc….will take executive salaries oh, yeah.
But, maybe some executive decisions are too big for them eh ?
It’s time for all the – f#ckin about to stop and – deal with this head-on.
The Celtic support who are still being taken-in by the custodians who
unfortunately are in control of who press’s the buttons at CP, still being
taken-in like mugs YES MUGS!!!
Are placing your faith in the future control of Celtic FC into the hands of
a bunch of charlatans who will sit back and tell you that – “We only have one vote…”
…when the huns drop-in from a parachute to the SPL sooner than you think !!!
It’s time to be cruel to be kind. imo
Be cruel back. Take a leaf from the huns book and, please grow a pair and
put the tools away!
A warning has to be put to the board / bored by the fans that, express’s the fans
disappointment in the – rolling over and accepting the LNS verdict.
No SB’s to be bought until a Top-Level QC is brought in to replace the late
Paul McBride(RIP) and – Appeal the LNS verdict’s dubious information gathering.
If, the stuff I’ve outlined disny happen then – I think that the Hibs will be the first and
last to wear the green. imo
I have lapsed from attending as many Celtic games as I used to, since I gave my bro my SB. If the apathy is allowed to continue to fester well….
Off oot – to a darkened room….

Here is my effort
As a football supporter of over 45 years I wish to raise my concerns regarding the governance of the game In Scotland in particular the behaviour and conduct of some of the senior officer bearers in the national Association the SFA. It is my view that the President of the Association Campbell Ogilvie and the registration officer Sandy Bryson assisted the now defunct Glasgow Rangers Football Club to operate an aggressive tax avoidance scheme (Employment Benefit Trusts) which the UK tax authorities consider to be illegal. The HMRC are pursuing the matter through the UK legal process. The EBT`s were set up by Rangers Holding Company Murray International Holdings
To operate the scheme not all payments to players were registered on the contracts submitted to the national association. This allowed the players of Glasgow Rangers to receive significant tax free sums. The named officer bearers I believe were in full knowledge of the scheme. In fact the President Campbell Ogilvie was himself a recipient of an EBT when was an employee of the Glasgow Rangers FC . The accounts of the old club openly declared that Glasgow Rangers Football Club employees benefited by payments from MIH operated EBT`s yet the office bearers failed in their duty to question the payments or players contracts
The Scottish Premier l League commissioned an independent tribunal to rule on the matter chaired by a Scottish judge Lord Nimmo Smith. The commission ruled that Rangers FC were guilty on four points, three for breaching the rules regarding non disclosure of payments to players and fourth failing to cooperate with the SPL by providing information when requested to do so.
A fine of £250,000 was imposed on Rangers Football Club Plc which is no longer a member of the association and as it is in liquidation this fine is unlikely to be paid. It was also noted that over 10 years Glasgow Rangers were able to pay players approximately 47 million pounds from the use of MIH funded EBTs. With due consideration of the economics of Scottish football many believe my self included that this gave Glasgow Rangers Football Club a significant financial advantage over other clubs in the leagues
Following the commission it also has transpired that registration officer Sandy Bryson misled the commission wrongly advising the panel that once a player’s registration had been accepted by the association it could no longer be rescinded, this in contrary to UEFA FIFA and the SFA rules
• Rule D1.13: A Club MUST, as a condition of Registration AND for a Player to be eligible to Play in Official Matches, deliver the executed originals of all Contracts of Service and amendments and/or extensions to Contracts of Service and all other agreements providing for payment, other than for reimbursement of expenses actually incurred, between that Club and Player, to the Secretary, within fourteen days of such Contract of Service or other agreement being entered into, amended and/or, as the case may be, extended.
As a result of the negligence or at worst the full knowledge of the SFA Glasgow Rangers fielded dozens of unregistered players in both European and domestic football matches. Given precedents have been set notably by UEFA who dismissed Sion from the Europa Cup in 2011 for fielding non registered players and the SFA itself dismissed Edinburgh Spartans from the Scottish Cup in 2011 for fielding a non registered player owing to administrative error
Scotland is one of the world oldest football nations and despite its small size has contributed much to world football. The game in Scotland is in crisis fans from all the major clubs are disillusioned with the administrators of the game. Many believe that the officer bearers in the game for whatever reason openly ignored the rules for the benefit of one club. Any requests to have this matter investigated are ignored. Certain office bearers seem to be more concerned with their personal position than what is best for the Scottish game.
I believe that to maintain the sporting integrity of the game FIFA should intervene in this matter in the interest of Scottish, European and World football
Yours
SFTB
Good post but although I agree with some of your points I have to disagree in the main.
GerryGuk7 said most of it for me. Yes, WGS was following a hard act but he lost a big chunk of the support in his own way, which he would have had he taken over from Lou Macari. I had many a heated debate with fellow fans who loved him so I would say WGS was unique in that he is possibly the only manager ever at CP who split the support in half.
The main reason he lost me was his bulk buying of mediocre players. I counted them one day and I think he brought in 32-33, btw at a cost of around 35m. From that lot only nine or ten were good enough to be automatic first team players (Naka, McDonald, Brown etc) the rest basically squad players who the fans cared little if they played or not, (Sno, Riordan, Pressley). Its only a matter of opinion of course but when 10,000 fans start to fall away, which happened, then somethings not right. For me his other fault was showing an arrogant and disrespectful streak and this was evident on Celtic TV once or twice, something he should have reserved for the MSM.
Well done Wgs on your CL exploits and I may be contradicting my argument with that one, but the 3 leagues were won against a hun team in turmoil. I would also give the man loads of credit in his post Celtic life as he speaks up the club better then anyone.
