Sensational Celtic remains sound business plan

964

You know a transfer window approaches when practically every media outlet has a story on Celtic are set to lose an important player.  Transfer stories are one of the most reliable commercial ventures in business.  They require no effort to produce, or recopy, as most outlets appear to, do not need to lead anywhere, but income per word read brings in more advertising revenue than anything else the UK media.

The premise that Sir Alex Ferguson has shared his plans to sell and then buy with an external party is ridiculous.  The distraction this can cause to Celtic players is merely a by product.

Ordered the CQN Annual yet? Get it here in time for Christmas!

Those who comment on our game do manage to contort themselves sometimes.  Sky TV convinced themselves Arbroath manager Paul Sheerin’s demonstrable angst at full time last night was in connection to his side’s disallowed goal.  A less animated Paul then explained his actions were frustration at only having three minutes added time.  If he wants to get more TV time he’d better follow the script – be angry at Celtic!

The moment Neil Lennon’s interview ended Sky cut across him to assure us Lassad’s disallowed goal was offside (which it was).  They acknowledged Keddie’s arm around the neck of Fraser Forster for the Arbroath ‘goal’ but were unable to confirm this was against the rules.

Football rules are very confusing, after all, but the rules on how the media make money out of Celtic remain the same.

We have not discussed Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas for a couple of days.  This single is going to position Celtic Charity and the 125 4 125 campaign in a prime spot across the nation.  You and I need to get involved THIS WEEK to raise the profile as high as possible ahead of the Christmas chart.

  1. Maria Miller’s trying to shift the blame onto her parents…..how pathetic is that.

A totally corrupt right-wing minister who spent a lot of time pontificating to the poor.

    I hope she gets jailed.

She’d find that interesting…..and like the rest of them who get imprisoned, she’ll ‘get God’….I mean, nobody else is listening to them any more, so their psychoses give them God…a captive audience in their echoing heads.

3 at the back is working very well; its great for the wing backs to get forward and use the full width of the park, supplemented by 3 hard-working central midfielders. I’d love to see it used at home at the w/e. And as you point out, flexible is good; more difficult for teams to prepare for 2 potential systems being used against them

Like that one :) Some of the humour of the monasteries was special. Had to read up on the Wandering Scholars (the Vagantes) as part of my education. Some very funny stuff. The dramatic music Karl Orff put to it in Carmina Burana, eg O Fortuna, is more well known – that Omen type music by movie soundtrack legend, Jerry Goldsmith, a genius modern day composer we sadly lost a few years ago. Excuse my havering on. It’s not like me :)

I think it suits , broony and joe in an attacking sense

and gives as you say a great platform for our

    wing backs.

It worked against killie, but not as good at arbroath.

Agree it should be used against st mirren, just to

see if it can break down a defensive set up at home.

Try 18th and 21st in one month like I need in October, now that’s a pocket buster……….

  10. It takes something for Paul to commentate on the commentators but it was particularly bad ! But we must understand that they have humiliated themselves and needed a cup upset for us to make themselves feel better – a sniff at a glimpse of a half chance which never was gave them that ! That’s how low they feel about themselves !

Welcome to the Septuagenarian Section of CQN.

You have now reached the stage in life when you can laugh yourself,..& the rest of those who glory in beating the Biblical allocation of ‘Three score years & ten’.

Always keep in mind that in Nevada this is the time in life when our thoughts turn to chasing Snow Bunnies.

    Don’t knock it.

Don’t think it would make much difference having a creative player in the centre midfield area with the system we use.

The lack of forward movement off the ball would reduce this players potency.

Our rigid and safety first system creates few options but the backwards and sideways pass which is why for all our possession we create few chances.

On saturday against killie our centre mids Brown and Ledley attacked the last third which resulted in the first 2 goals and forced their defense to work all day.

Last night we reverted to type and got a result on a great individual goal.

Our coaches have developed a good counter attacking system for europe but we are still to one dimensional for spl where teams just sit in and wait for crowd to get on us and make team nervous.

We need to have better off the ball movement and a system that allows us to attack and defend collectively.

Just now our strikers are outnumbered because our slow build up allows teams to defend in depth and our midfielders tend to hold position rather than join the attack.

Our coaches need to work harder in allowing a little more expresion rather than the obssession with non threatening possession.

    Interesting analysis amigo.

But if we had Commons and/or Stokes and/or Forrest- these are the players that allow us to score more readily against SPL opposition I think, so at the moment we’re having to cope without them while new bloods like Miku and Lassad are given time to settle in.

  17. I understand that Goian is back at the huns at the new year, he is on about 18k a week, that is a lot out of Chucks budget.

And they can’t loan him, or even sell him till the end of the season, no more than two clubs in a season I believe.

I wonder how the msm will spin that one….he will just have ply his trade in the 4 th tier then….

agre a fully fit “Commons and/or Stokes and/or Forrest” would make a difference in the SPL.
