SFA and Sevco agree on embargo

719

This evening we received clarity on two items first reported here and on several other locations months ago.  Sevco have accepted the 12 month player registration embargo handed down by Lord Carloway’s Appellate Tribunal as a condition of their application for membership of the SFA, while Fifa have granted four former Rangers players permission to sign for new clubs.

The SFA, under president Campbell Ogilvie, took every step possible to alert Sevco that if they did not accept the transfer embargo a more severe penalty would be imposed on Rangers, whose licence they are trying to acquire.  Hopes of “elimination” from the Scottish Cup as an alternative punishment were based on false logic, and were also just silly.

Sevco disputed the embargo, hoping the SFA would offer to set it aside, as it tried to set-aside so many other rules to accommodate them in recent weeks, however, the best the new company could achieve was an accommodation to allow them to stock up on players over the next five weeks in order to off-set the effects of so many players ‘walking away’.

There is a chance this decision will save Sevco a second season in the SFL Third Division but there remains many hurdles for the new club to achieve before they start and complete a football season.

No mention yet of what the SFA and SPL plan to do with the plethora of other disciplinary matters due against Rangers, or how they proposed to prevent their own independent judicial process from reaching an inconvenient verdict.

    Enough already.

We’re meant to be on the same side.

Clearly dont agree on just about everything except a love for Celtic.

    Apologies for any offence caused.

Let’s move on for the sake of avoiding cheap point scoring and boring the life out of just about everyone else.

You’ve more important things to contend yourself with at the moment. Keep that stump firmly within your sights.

FIFA tell newco Rangers they’re owed nothing for stars who left – but club will receive £800k for Steven Davis

Jul 21 2012 By Scott McDermott

FIFA last night said Rangers won’t get a penny for stars who quit Ibrox – but they could land an £800,000 windfall for Steven Davis.

Ibrox chief executive Charles Green challenged the decisions of Davis, Steven Naismith, Jamie Ness, Kyle Lafferty and Steven Whittaker to walk away from the Glasgow club this summer.

They all rejected the transfer of their contracts to a newco and negotiated deals elsewhere. Naismith joined Everton, Lafferty signed for Sion, Ness for Stoke City and Whittaker for Norwich.

But FIFA have ruled Green is due nothing for any of them, with Ness’s switch to Stoke the first to be given the OK last night by the game’s governing body.

The SFA later confirmed provisional clearance has also been granted to Lafferty, Whittaker and Naismith. PFA Scotland solicitor, Margaret Gribbon, said: “Ness now has provisional clearance from FIFA and I expect all other applications before them to take the same course.”

Davis also expected to join Southampton for free but Record Sport understands a deal has been struck between Green and the English side that will see Rangers receive around £800,000 for the Northern Ireland captain.

That will come as a huge boost to the Ibrox chief and boss Ally McCoist as they look to rebuild their squad ahead of the new season, which they will start in the SFL Third Division.

Does the transfer embargo mean they can’t sign ANY player after 01/09/12…

Or does it only relate to permanent registration of players meaning Sevco will still be able to sign players on loan, as SFL clubs are permitted to do?

Been wondering what ” facilitate ” meant .

Now have sight of the first ostensive definition ——

Being allowed to stock up on players immediately prior to a period where you are not allowed to sign players

Brazen cheating , brazen subversion ., brazen bias , brazen assistance. Shameful dereliction of a self trumpeted duty .. Surprised that other Scottish clubs find it acceptable.

SFA = Sevco Facilitation Association .

Another high 30s day -way down south.

Think I will be watching the game via the ‘net tonight though, but I would rather give CFC £19.99 a month to have access to games!

What an indictment of the Governing Body the agreement reached with Sevco is. The message is clear. If you don’t like the decisions of any independent body take the case to civil court as the SFA will take no action against you. You can then negotiate your position to reduce the impact of the decision of the Independent Panel.

I hope the SFA and FIFA remember the precedent set here next time a member club goes to a Civil Court as this decision surely undermines their position in the future.

What may I ask is the point of an Independent Panel/ The process is a sham.

What we are faced with is an attempt by the SFA to reach the middle ground. They are basically saying that Rangers are too big to fail, too big to be treated according to the rules.

They think it will be the end if the hordes who turned up to watch Rangers are “lost” to us and therefore want to keep them rolling up to watch whatever entity they all want to pretend is now the dead Rangers.

At the same time, they want the outside world to think they have meted out justice and have followed the rules. They think our heads button up the back.
