SFA CEO, who’d want to do it?

328

You’re not going to hear a defence of Stewart Regan from me. The job of CEO of the SFA is clearly too big for him, this has been evident for years. But to be fair, the job had been beyond most. Anyone capable of delivering high performance at the Association over the last five years shouldn’t be at the SFA, they should be achieving at a fast higher level.

I know some great candidates for the job but I wouldn’t wish it on them. The SFA CEO job is for a hit and run turnaround expert.  Make everyone hate you, fix a small number of things and get out. Of Scotland.  Even then, you’ll probably fail.

Anyone who thinks there are simple solutions to complex problems should stick to politics.

We’ll see how effective the old media are at undermining execs in our game. My guess is more than you might think.

Apart from Moz who else is attending the AGM from the Res 12 gang?

KD was happy to move for the money after discussing it with his wife; Big Jock didn’t want to sell him but ultimately it was KD’s decision. That info was given from someone very close to them at the time of the transfer.

The MSM are suddenly turning on the SFA.

    Why?

Their favourite team and succulent lamb source has been the beneficiary of the weak, devious, underhand and incompetent bluenoses in brogues and blazers.

So why is the spotlight on Regan now?

Is the dark brown effluence from Res12 about to hit the fan?

Have they uncovered some other trouble in store for the zombies?

Are the vultures circling over Ibrox?

Is Joey’s payoff about to be in default?

A 12 point deduction for admin by the New Year?

Or is the Geordie Ogre about to swoop?

I guess we who have no insider knowledge will just need to tune in to CQN as the drama unfolds.

Or enjoy the wild speculative fantasies that provide so much hilarity.

Please don’t tell me how this story ends.

    I pray you are right.

We can only speculate, we know nada, sometimes that is a good thing, sometimes not.

It depends on what the remit BR has obviously, it’s looking like he has a fair bit of control re the scouting, with JP getting consented, and the ins so far, but we don’t know what control Pedro has on the overall finances, more than BR I would imagine.

Still, so far it’s looking positive so am not complaining :-)

The word I had at the time of Hay’s transfer came from someone close to the player.

Those of us of that vintage may remember that there was a will he- won’t he element to his going.

There were negotiations going back and forward, but eventually, Davie agreed to stay.

Jock told him to go home and talk it over with his wife again.

He came in to Celtic Park the next day and told Jock that he was off.

  11. If you listen to BR interviews he continually talks of developing players and the team.

Players hear this and I’m sure one of the main reasons MD signed for us was BR being manager to ensure his continued development. so far this has proved to be the right choice going by how the young guy has performed in recent months.

The choice soon will be MD’s view on how he is progressing as a player against what may become an opportunity to move to a more ‘commercial’ club.

Celtic will have a say on the latter but it all depends how much MD values the former.

    Hail! Hail!

    Tontine/ VFR,

I posted earlier about KD’s documented financial problems, due to a failed whisky bonding venture, along with the publican Harkin, his father in law and possibly others.

Somewhere in the region of £500k I believe.

Regrettably, I have to report that for reasons completely unassociated with Res 12 I find the AGM such an annoying experience that I have vowed never to return to such an event.

To some, this may seem churlish, but in over 30 years in business. I like meetings where you can actually get something done and move on and make an impact in a business like manner.

I don’t see it as a day out, a meeting of fellow fans, or a day where i do anything else other than stare at a big stage full of grey-suited men of a certain age who have been there for years and who offer little by way of business innovation which interests me.

I will be at the park for two functions the following evening, and will support the club and the board as best I can and at every opportunity within reason and on the proviso that I agree with what they are doing.

But I have a life to lead and attendance at an AGM is about as interesting as watching peeling wallpaper on a wet night in January while standing in a bucket of water with your finger in a live electrical socket which is not connected to the electrical supply!

It is a stage managed, statutorily enforced pile of mince.

  20. I believe Zinedine Zidane has his countryman Moussa’s ear and we’ll see the lhad at Celtic for at least season 2017-18, if not one more, before ZZ comes good on his promise and makes Moussa Real Madrid’s new no.9 at a sweet price of £50 million+ as Ronaldo and co. wane and ZZ harvests the best of the new to freshen up the Spanish behemoths.

Hereby opening the floodgate of agents desperate to ship their top young talent to the world’s best shop window that is Celtic de Glasgow.

Hereby helping us to regain a permanent footing at Europe’s top table, swell the coffers beyond the board’s wildest dreams, give the fans seasons’ worth of the best talent around and guarantee us at least 10 in a row if not the unconditional surrender of every other Scottish club and the goons that run the game.

    Thank you, Moussa. In advance.
