SFA CEO, who’d want to do it?

328

You’re not going to hear a defence of Stewart Regan from me. The job of CEO of the SFA is clearly too big for him, this has been evident for years. But to be fair, the job had been beyond most. Anyone capable of delivering high performance at the Association over the last five years shouldn’t be at the SFA, they should be achieving at a fast higher level.

I know some great candidates for the job but I wouldn’t wish it on them. The SFA CEO job is for a hit and run turnaround expert.  Make everyone hate you, fix a small number of things and get out. Of Scotland.  Even then, you’ll probably fail.

Anyone who thinks there are simple solutions to complex problems should stick to politics.

We’ll see how effective the old media are at undermining execs in our game. My guess is more than you might think.

  1. Why not peter Lawell for SFA CEO

He could bring in lots of players to Scotland youth academy’s who are projects and have never kicked a ball

He couid close down one of the stands at Hamden and fill it with flags

He couid downsize everything in SFA coaching

He could fund a Scotland quick news and everyone who complains would be called English

Naw that is all too far fetched

  7. I see in recent days stories of his Usain Bolt is hanging up his spikes and taking up professional football ?

Good luck son, but the legend that is Bobby ” Buzzbomb” Lennox would leaving you standing when it comes to speed………..and Buzzbomb is 73 !

I hate that chump on sky sports news Mike Wedderburn..whit a tube !

He is so far up his own erse, he truly believes that having the ability to read from ” Idiot Boards”, with the very same news every 20 minutes or so, constitutes his ” place” in sport ?

I can read this chump like a book, and I would bet anyone that he is also a miserable git when it comes to money ?

You may wonder how I can read someone thru a TV set ?

It’s the statements he makes in attempts to be funny, or cool !

His body language contradicts his so called ” coolness”, as every time he’s on, hes ALWAYS twindling with a pen that he never uses ! That is a nervy trait.

He’s usually on with a wee burd called Alex, and always attempts to look superior, especially when he interupts her .

He comes across as speaking down to the viewers , TELLING viewers what they will like and equally annoying is when they show a clip of a sportsman saying something and/or doing a ” celebration “, HE will pass comment in a manner that he’s actually talking and conversing with at sportsman, forgetting that’s it’s only a video clip ?

His first love is cricket , and I’ve witnessed him almost drooling when giving an English cricket team report, and if England are getting gubbed he’s so delusional as he treats the story almost like a death in the family. He’s got a real issue with his own self importance, and I can easily imagine him giving it ” do you know who I am crap”, if he comes across ordinary folk.

I would never tire of punching his lights oot !

Money wise, I’ll bet hes tighter than a midges garter, I hate this phoney.

    Likewise the gob Jim White.

I well remember the very 1st Sunday after the rag the news of the world shut down.

White was doing the ” paper review'”, was almost in tears when there was no NOTW to report on. He claimed live on air that morning, ,” I just can’t believe it, no NOTW” !

Honestly, this chump White would have had us all believe it was the end of the world ?

I hate those two right wing Chumps big time !

    Hi Guys

A couple of weeks ago I sent a letter to Celtic Park, the plc registered office, asking that I, as a shareholder, be allowed access in order to the view the complete list of the Club’s shareholders. I waited until Friday of last week, and having had no word back, I phoned up. I gave a brief explanation of my business to an operator, who, after giving me her own opinion -she thought I was a scammer- switched me to an extension where she had said I could speak to an appropriate member of staff. The only voice at the other end was one that asked me to leave a message. I hung up and phoned again. I then waited in a queue for a few minutes, being told at one point I was third, but was then cut off. I gave up.

Does anyone know if I am entitled to the shareholder information from the Club’s registered office?

I also wish to send a letter containing highly sensitive information to the Club Secretary in time for the AGM, but after Friday’s experience I am not confident he would receive this. I’m in Ireland, so not easy to hand in.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  25. Ah! So it’s Parlane they wheel out this week as a real Rangers spokesman, it’s getting vulgar now.

“Getting back into the Premiership was always the goal and that is what they did,” Parlane told SportTimes.

Read more: Derek Parlane delighted to see Kenny Miller still starring for Rangers

“When I am talking to any Rangers supporter, I always said that this was never going to be an easy season and it was always going to be a challenge.

“It is going to be a long season, there will be some downs but there will be some ups as well. We are not there yet by any means and I am sure the manager and his coaching staff will know that as well.

“It is about building on what he has got and strengthening where he needs to strengthen and hopefully getting the finance to achieve that. We mustn’t raise our expectations because we are Rangers.

“It is not automatic that we are going to win every league that we are in. It has been a long way back and now it is about stabilising, growing and building for the future.”

Having seen their side storm to the Championship title last term, many Gers fans were in optimistic mood ahead of their top flight return in the summer.

Some would have settled for solid runs in the cup competitions and a Premiership campaign that lived up to Warburton’s ‘highly competitive’ hopes.

But there were others who only had eyes for the silverware, especially after seeing some big names sign on the dotted line at Ibrox.

The dreams of title glory were quickly killed off but now boss Warburton must seek to close the gap to Celtic and show signs that his side are capable of competing with their Old Firm rivals next term.

Parlane said: “I go round a lot of supporters clubs and speak to fans and I really enjoy doing that.

“This kind of question about the expectations always comes up and there are a lot of people that agree with me. Because we are Rangers and with the fantastic history that we have got, the expectations are very high.

“But we need to start from now and maybe lower our sights a little bit. Expectations will always be high because it is Rangers we are talking about.

“That will always be the case but this is an extraordinary circumstance this season.

“To be honest I think a top three finish would be superb for Rangers this year. But that top three could mean we are twenty points away from Celtic and seven or eight away from the second team.

“It is a difficult one. It is an old cliché but we have to take it one game at a time and one stage at a time.

“We have got to build and there are areas where Mark Warburton will know where he has to strengthen.”

The task for Warburton in the coming weeks and months is to prove that he and his side are on the right track and are capable of stopping Celtic next season.

Significant steps have to be taken forward on the park, while progress is also being made off it as the rebuilding job continues at Ibrox.

  26. Awe_Naw_No_Annoni_Oan_Anaw_Noo on

Every year at Rangers and Celtic AGMs, you always get the absolute left-field of all left-field questions.

At Celtic, it’s usually about Rangers and at Rangers it’s usually about the reintroduction of an orange kit or recruiting a club chaplain.

Sadly, though, we don’t hold out much hope this year of hearing why Rangers have been stealing the local church’s water supply and therefore saving cash on the water bill.

That’s despite some heavy hitters reporting to the contrary.

I never knew the huns nicking holy water story had went mainstream

    When did this happen ?

above is take from the Daily Record

  27. Even when some” journalist ” gets near to telling the truth about Rangers (1872-2012), McNewspeak confounds them, and they end up talking shite like Kris Boyd.

Craig Fowler, in yesterday’s Scotsman, taking Boyd to task for his Sun article on Scotland’s International demise, though nowhere near as effectively as the author of Johnjamessite, states:

“The 33-year-old insisted the current national team is paying the price for the decision to “send down” Rangers in 2012 following the club’s liquidation.”

Great that he used the ‘L’ word, but he makes no comment on how that means that Rangers (1872-2012) couldn’t be sent anywhere, down or otherwise, though he makes clear “send down” is Boyd’s take.

And, as logic deteriorates, this sentence appears, using the present tense where the past tense is required in the name of sense.

” The Old Firm are never more than three bad results away from a crisis and players have to adapt a win-or-else mentality”.

    Thought Rangers(1872-2012) were liquidated, Craig?

McNewspeak, where “liquidation” means “continuation”, and “incorporation” means “separation”.

TD67, expect more of this over the next wee while. There is a mounting campaign with the subliminal “same club – retained history” message. Looks like Parlane has been prompted: “Because we are Rangers and with the fantastic history that we have got, the expectations are very high.”

The SMSM are not unaware that Res12 is back on the agenda and that other reputable websites (with no Celtic affiliation) are questioning the manipulation of the SFA and SPFL when dealing with the old Rangers liquidation.

The constant referral to demotion to the bottom tier or Rangers* being relegated is again designed to deliver the subliminal message that they are still the same entity with the unbroken history. It’s now being subtly introduced with their unwarranted anticipation of European football next season and we will, I’m sure, in the forthcoming months be treated to speculation on their UEFA co-efficient as well as reports of their “previous forays” into European competition.

We can only hope that the Res12 airing at the AGM tomorrow starts another push to have the SFA/SPFL held to account and at the same time propagate the UEFA message that they are in fact a new club!
