SFA double down with Scottish Government

240

This morning’s CQN story on the discrepancy of how the SFA and Scottish Government treated Celtic, after Boli Bolingoli’s break of rules, and Newco, after their second breach, this one involving five of their players, illustrates what we are up against.

The SFA took 18 days to ban Bolingoli, whereas with Tavernier injured and a ban-awaiting Patterson the only remaining right back, the Association took 45 days to respond and issue their bans.

Nicola Sturgeon took to the podium to express her anger when postponing two Celtic games following the Bolingoli incident, whereas she had a Government spokesperson “commend” Newco for swiftly acting at their first incident.  The second Newco incident saw the First Minister talk only about her ambivalence to “Celtic and Rangers [sic.]”.

If she does not see the disconnect between her words and actions it speaks volumes of what she is prepared to overlook.  I am not a fan.

I wonder how you would have reacted if you found out that the SNP had asked for a smoking gun regarding RES12 and then, on receiving it, decided to have it buried.

Whilst I dont fall out with your annotations there, what do you think our starting 11 may be for next seasons first game?

I presume it’ll be an early round champs league game

  4. The Dreggin Dragon” should be shown-up for what she has sanctioned

her and that “talkative” currant – more microphone than stethoscope…………………………………….

We are not half of anything. Dermot needs to know that’s the Support’s perspective.

Dom’s an employee, Dermot is the mHan.

  5. So who is making decisions about letting players out on loan and letting promising youngsters leave the club. ?

  6. Good luck to Edouard wherever he ends up this summer, very disappointed in him this season, we did not get a fair return from him

23 yrs of age still playing at 21s against Iceland OK

The fact is I don’t know – I’m as concerned as anyone about our lack of appointment of a new management team. We need to get at least 5 signings in. But my post was backing up what a lot on here have been calling for since the beginning of the season if not long before.

If we haven’t got a new management team in by end of April then I’ll be really really really really really really really worried.

Thanks for the reply. I agree with your thoughts.

I have a concern over a disregard, by many, of our piecemeal set up and the likelihood of losing yet more players / backroom staff.

Given we are currently 20 points behind, I would expect us to be further ahead planning wise.

Most of the recent site articles and related comments seem oddly detached from our reality.

I’m not in panic mode yet. Maybe soon

  9. It true, it is utter folly to let someone who will not be at the club beyond this season make decisions for next season.

If the situation wasn’t so dire it would be laughable never mind embarrassing.

    HH. COY Poles.

  10. So much concern over our squad for the European start up and personally I couldnae give a donald, more concerned about getting our title back and direct entry intae the Big Cup and all it entails.

    letswalkbeforewecanrun CSC.

  11. I’m now openly concerned around Dermot’s plans.

As successful as he’s been- the luck’s run out, and it would seem we’ve made our own luck.

If Dom has to be any more influential than a. n. other JP Taylor type ( zero influence) then Dermot has to change.

Why are we putting up with partial pro – hun SFA treatment??? Appeasement failed, miserably.

  12. BankieBhoy: watched that piece on RTÉ about the Celtic Lhads ‘Paudcast’. Very uplifting. Will post a link when it becomes available on RTÉ Player.

  13. Almore – aye, lovely wee story – the lhads paudcast, just full of feel-good stuff.

I liked the piece where the dad is talking about the particular pic him and his dad pose for each year at Celtic Park.

wonderful docu that one on jackie charlton

I thought it was wonderful, and sad, several times I had a wee quivering lip.

The management style, the post it notes with those insights, the actual intelligence of the man (while others like to play on a perceived dumbness).

I had kind of forgotten all the politcs around it as well, an Englishman managing Ireland at the heights of the troubles, the rhetoric from both sides, Kind of treated as a traitor.

The Celtic connections, Bonnar, Morris, McCarthy, Coyne, Coyle, Brady slightly, Keano.

The family stuff was really interesting, I read both of their autbiographies and other stories on them, I always feel Bobby had survivors guilt, and for all that he acheived for me he never settled on it, only on the park does he seem at peace.

The other snippets of Jack with grand weans, melt your heart.

    God Bless him.

Surely the easy option is to renew?

The question is whether it is in the best long term interests of the Club to renew.

I think I’ll greet st st

one other thing, Paul McGraths young life, omg, he is a giant for me to do what he did.

  19. Scotland starting with a centre mid playing at the back, squeezing two left backs into a 3-5-2 formation, and playing an attacking midfielder as a wing-back.

In playing all these players in positions they are not accustomed to, you could be forgiven for thinking that S. Clarke is auditioning for the Celtic job?

  20. I’m surprised many of you are surprised at the latest inaction by our custodians ….

The whole point is that any action / comment against the bully boys from Ibrox goes nowhere if the SFA are involved …. they are in the back pocket of the orangemen.

That is the reason that bug Pete heaved as much responsibility away from SFA to Spl , hence the reason the Ipox bosses tried to shaft the sol bosses last year and install their own orangemen

So in summary complaining is useless , we get no support, and they use time and lawyers to bend the rules out of shape

Cast your minds back to Celtics correspondence with Regan re12 it was excruciating, SFA would argue Monday was Thursday ….

Only way to gub these morons is on the pitch , pointless our senior guys getting drawn into endless bollocks with morons , it becomes too draining and non productive

  21. Luca needs to move to a club that will give him a chance.

Unless our next manager is the opposite of Lennon and isny Kennedy.

  22. I’m in the documentary by the way st st- when sheedy scores in Cagliari and the camera pans away from the screen – the stoopid bassa in the grey jumping up and down was me- Kiely’s of donnybrook – no longer a pub, unfortunately!

  23. EKBhoy……………..

Despite what’s gone before the new regime would be advised to court the Support and a decent kick-off would be volubly confronting the AFA from now on as it presents itself.

    Appeasement has failed miserably.

Dermot has this issue all to his own.

  24. Jackie Mac, I love that your there in history,

as a bhoy particulalry at away games, i would jook the uncles and try to pick a spot that was behind a goal and in the camera line.

then at night or on the sunday annoy everybody by sitting next to the tv and saying, that me there , look look

“naw it isnae” and “get yir heid out the road”

    were the gentler comments

  25. Celtic will not pay a top manager 50 grand a week when there’s nothing at stake but the cup.

    What’s Kennedy on?

    £2 grand a week?
