SFA finally acknowledge Rangers EBT issue

1494

Stewart Regan today gave a welcome update on the SFA’s on-going investigation into Rangers.  In response to Hugh Adam’s comments in today’s Daily Mail, Regan said:

“We are, however, aware of the most recent allegations made against Rangers FC today by a former director of the club. We shall investigate this matter thoroughly before making any further comment.”

SFA president, Campell Ogilvie, was general secretary and director of Rangers from 1978 until 2005. News broke about HMRC’s dispute over Rangers Employment Benefit Trust in 2010, you knew then, I knew then, the SFA knew then, but Ogilvie was subsequently elevated to the role of SFA president in 2011.  He is still on the SFA board.

We have waited almost two years the hear the SFA would investigate this matter. Now, with all the old certainties crumbling down around them, they realise they must act.

Can I be the first to congratulate Dundee FC on winning the Scottish Cup in 2003.

Sorry but it seems to me that Tommy Burns personified as far as is humanly possible the characteristics of love as preached by Jesus and defined in Corinthinas 13.

In that spirit I think Tommy would have understood and forgiven other humans their human failings.

    Auldheid,

I am in no doubt that even today and armed with the full facts Tommy would STILL have forgiven them. Is that not what catholics are taught to believe in ?

It does not reduce the fact that they are cheating scum who lied to his face AND DONE IT FOR THEMSELVES

In the midst of all this joy and jelly (and i really does look as though March will be better even than February) let us not forget that this weekend marks the anniversary of the Celtic takeover/rescue. I always remember it because it coincides with my Mam’s birthday :)

  7. That no agreement has been reached at Murray Park suggests to me that there’s defnitely no agreement on the 75% option. And reluctance to defer 50% in case that’s not honoured.

That surprises me I always thought KPMG done it for MIH.

good luck all that stuff was on the MIH web site how did you get one from 1989 ?

Unless somebody took copies then I think it will be difficult to get

MIH was Andersens then Deloittes when AA went down the tubes through Enron shredding. Should still be able to get historic accounts through Cos House. Does cost though…

That’s it in a nutshell for me.

That neither of them seemed to learn from the experience, but in fact, imo, grew more bitter and more sleekit as the years went on, should also be noted. Last year said it all.

They didn’t exactly fall over themselves to offer any support to Lenny….fully aware it would only have taken one sentence from either of them to calm down the extremist nuggets that hang on their every word.

  13. Sounds like that shout that rangers will be Liquidated on the 20th of M

March is a fais shout as the deadline for interest was only a day out.

From BBC ‘A March 16 deadline has been set for expressions of interest in the club and it is believed that up to six potential bidders have emerged with serious plans.’

It could well be the old Trades Club, just of Central Drive, close to Blackpool Rugby FC. I’ve watched a few games in there and there seems to be more or less a Celtic Club these days.

No announcements today from Murray Park?

If I was a creditor I would be asking exactly what the administrators are doing to justify their fees.

If I was Motherwell i would be asking why a team in administration, who cannot pay fellow SPL clubs the monies they are owed, are being allowed to continue playing with players they cannot afford. The financial doping continues?

  20. “Bliss it was in that dawn to be alive …”

In the minds of most of Scotland, the words ‘paranoid’ and ‘Celtic supporter’ go hand in hand, in much the same way ‘Third Lanark’ and ‘Rangers’ will for future generations.

I think it only fair to say that this linkage has largely been the result of decades of anti-Celtic media bias. Of course, I’m just a paranoid Tim who would say that, wouldn’t I?

This bias flourishes to this very day, often drawn to our attention through the standard gratuitous, dismissive and patronising tones use towards Celtic fans challenging this ‘conventional wisdom’ on countless radio show phone ins.

And this view is not confined to the lowly red-tops or commercial radio stations: the BBC Shortbread division of the biggest and best-resourced media organisation in the world (never mind in Scotland) is as guilty as the next media outlet; not least because of its stated aim of ensuring fair and balanced coverage (cf. the exposure granted to the odious Jabba and cheeky chappy Chic, to name but 2 from a long list).

When the shutters are finally pulled down on the Foe Mailgn, and with there being no more jelly or ice cream to be had in Scotland, the words which will come from my mouth on that day will be: Hallelujah, Hallelujah!

To paraphrase a CQN poster from earlier today (and my apologies for not making a note of your name at the time): “We’re going to need to find a bigger schadenfreude …”

Oh, where have you been, my blue-eyed son ?

And where have you been my darling young one ?

I’ve stumbled on the side of twelve misty mountains

I’ve walked and I’ve crawled on six crooked highways

I’ve stepped in the middle of seven sad forests

I’ve been out in front of a dozen dead oceans

I’ve been ten thousand miles in the mouth of a graveyard

    And it’s a hard, it’s a hard, it’s a hard, and it’s a hard

    It’s a hard rain’s a-gonna fall.

Oh, what did you see, my blue eyed son ?

And what did you see, my darling young one ?

I saw a newborn baby with wild wolves all around it

I saw a highway of diamonds with nobody on it

I saw a black branch with blood that kept drippin’

I saw a room full of men with their hammers a-bleedin’

I saw a white ladder all covered with water

I saw ten thousand talkers whose tongues were all broken

I saw guns and sharp swords in the hands of young children

    And it’s a hard, it’s a hard, it’s a hard, and it’s a hard

    It’s a hard rain’s a-gonna fall.

And what did you hear, my blue-eyed son ?

And what did you hear, my darling young one ?

I heard the sound of a thunder, it roared out a warnin’

I heard the roar of a wave that could drown the whole world

I heard one hundred drummers whose hands were a-blazin’

I heard ten thousand whisperin’ and nobody listenin’

I heard one person starve, I heard many people laughin’

Heard the song of a poet who died in the gutter

Heard the sound of a clown who cried in the alley

    And it’s a hard, it’s a hard, it’s a hard, it’s a hard

    And it’s a hard rain’s a-gonna fall.

Oh, who did you meet my blue-eyed son ?

Who did you meet, my darling young one ?

I met a young child beside a dead pony

I met a white man who walked a black dog

I met a young woman whose body was burning

I met a young girl, she gave me a rainbow

I met one man who was wounded in love

I met another man who was wounded in hatred

    And it’s a hard, it’s a hard, it’s a hard, it’s a hard

    And it’s a hard rain’s a-gonna fall.

And what’ll you do now, my blue-eyed son ?

And what’ll you do now my darling young one ?

I’m a-goin’ back out ‘fore the rain starts a-fallin’

I’ll walk to the depths of the deepest black forest

Where the people are a many and their hands are all empty

Where the pellets of poison are flooding their waters

Where the home in the valley meets the damp dirty prison

Where the executioner’s face is always well hidden

Where hunger is ugly, where souls are forgotten

Where black is the color, where none is the number

And I’ll tell and think it and speak it and breathe it

And reflect it from the mountain so all souls can see it

Then I’ll stand on the ocean until I start sinkin’

But I’ll know my songs well before I start singin’

    And it’s a hard, it’s a hard, it’s a hard, and it’s a hard

    It’s a hard rain’s a-gonna fall.
