SFA president, Campbell Ogilvie, today issued a statement through the SFA website amid a growing clamour for action over the on-going controversy over the alleged improper registration of players at Rangers during the time he was company/general secretary and director.
It will be an enormous disappointment to the BBC journalist who gave him solid backing only yesterday, to hear the president admit that he benefited from the now-infamous Employee Benefit Trust (EBT) scheme, however, this will not be news to any of you. Without wanting to be cynical, this feels like we are being fed a completely irrelevant headline while the real matter at hand was yet again not addressed. Perhaps we should be grateful the gratuitous but irrelevant headline didn’t involve the Krankies.
Ogilvie completely refused to acknowledge or address the question of improper registration of players, instead referring to an incomplete list of his duties at Rangers.
The SPL split will happen in 25 days at which point fixtures will be arranged for the top and bottom six in the league. This issue has to be investigated, reported and perhaps appealed all the way to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, before then. Kilmarnock, Aberdeen and St Mirren are currently battling for seventh place, if it was found that Rangers played improperly registered players this season, they could stand to lose enough points to demote them to the bottom half of the table.
The SFA cannot continue to sleep on the job. While Ogilvie’s position as president is important, he is a sideshow to enabling Scottish football to finish the season on time.
The SFA, the SPL, the game itself is in enormous crisis. Michel Platini, where are you? How bad does it need to get before you get involved?

The Japanese authorities are pleased to announce that the earlier earthquake warning was in fact a false alarm, the increase in richter scale readings were in fact due to the SFA SPL and Scottish Media burying their respective heads in the sand at the one time.

I think so. original deadline was 10 April (I think). Technically its a new insolvency event so will push back deadlines by 8 weeks and under the letter of the law it should be another 10 point deduction but as other admin incorrectly organised, I’d be fairly sure they won’t get another 10 points deducted.
Would laugh all night long if they do however.

With Brian Kennedy’s statement that he would step in and rescue rangers, I was wondering why anyone would buy an insolvent company with no European money next season and a potentially huge tax bill with HMRC – an organisation famed for not doing deals. And that’s not to mention any fallout from dual contracts.

So Rangers are not really in administration after all. After CW fought so hard to get them appointed too. Since then though they have made some pretty impressive statements about how they where simply going to remove CW from the picture. MAE bores so to speak….. the 2nd contract issue is a complete smoke screen the SFA law is very clear “all payments, whether made by the club or otherwise, which are to be
made to a player solely relating to his playing activities must be fully
recorded”. The fact that payments were actually made in the form of an
EBT is not being disputed, so the key thing here is whether or not
the payments are for playing activities. If they are, and I can think of no logical argument that they could possibly be for anything else, they must be declared to the SFA.

We are now very much in the bargaiining stage about halfway when the pain of holding on starts to hurt more than the pain of letting go.
Fear of what might come is also being reduced by the thought that perhaps a Div3 start for Newco is not that terrible fate given it keeps triumphs on the agenda but at a much lowet cost base.
The grief process is doing its job of creating something new and hopefully better than the now corrupt cadaver that thinks its a zombie and not a corpse.

The way I see it matey, you’ve got two choices.

I think this is all very simple. If Campbell Ogilvie had nothing to hide then Campbell Ogilvie would have given us some straight talking, not evaded the issue at hand.

I’m with you why is Campbell wasting his precious time making statements stating he has no responsibility for R@ngers players contracts post 2002.
We have been repeatedly told through various outlets that there is nothing wrong with these contracts, they are totally ligit, so why is Mr Ogilvy trying to disatnce himself.
We are less than a month from the split,all we need from the SFA is that all the RFC player contracts are compliant.
