SFA-Ogilvie statement of inaction while SPL split looms

SFA president, Campbell Ogilvie, today issued a statement through the SFA website amid a growing clamour for action over the on-going controversy over the alleged improper registration of players at Rangers during the time he was company/general secretary and director.

It will be an enormous disappointment to the BBC journalist who gave him solid backing only yesterday, to hear the president admit that he benefited from the now-infamous Employee Benefit Trust (EBT) scheme, however, this will not be news to any of you.  Without wanting to be cynical, this feels like we are being fed a completely irrelevant headline while the real matter at hand was yet again not addressed.  Perhaps we should be grateful the gratuitous but irrelevant headline didn’t involve the Krankies.

Ogilvie completely refused to acknowledge or address the question of improper registration of players, instead referring to an incomplete list of his duties at Rangers.

The SPL split will happen in 25 days at which point fixtures will be arranged for the top and bottom six in the league.  This issue has to be investigated, reported and perhaps appealed all the way to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, before then.  Kilmarnock, Aberdeen and St Mirren are currently battling for seventh place, if it was found that Rangers played improperly registered players this season, they could stand to lose enough points to demote them to the bottom half of the table.

The SFA cannot continue to sleep on the job.  While Ogilvie’s position as president is important, he is a sideshow to enabling Scottish football to finish the season on time.

The SFA, the SPL, the game itself is in enormous crisis. Michel Platini, where are you? How bad does it need to get before you get involved?

  1. Im in Cracow reading back as fast as I can. Just discovered the hotel had internetaccess yesterday. Funny keyboard. Looks, however, as if its boiling up nicely. Some worms are on the hooks–still plenty to go. Ive a feeling Celtic will go to war on this one,no-holds barred, and about time. Polish beer excellent, Polish women stunning, and Cracow is great. Nearly all speak very good English. Suggest we bunch up and send Jabba, Chic, and Dawwyll over for a crash course.

  2. The Japanese authorities are pleased to announce that the earlier earthquake warning was in fact a false alarm, the increase in richter scale readings were in fact due to the SFA SPL and Scottish Media burying their respective heads in the sand at the one time.

God is toying with these Huns.

I’d imagine everyone of the bigots punched the air with joy at the news regarding the exit from administration – only to get kicked full in the plums with the news they will be back in it before they play us…

wee chick made to look a fool.

    Shouldn’t that be “fowl”?

    Or even “foul”?

  7. Chick Dung last night – “I can assure you that Campell Ogilvie never knew anything about any EBTs. All the Admin stuff was outsourced at great expense to Murray Group….” or words to that effect.

C Ogilvie today – “I was aware of the EBT scheme in operation at Rangers during my time at the club and, indeed, was a member.”

I hope one of the UK-based Bhoys rings up tonight and tears Dung a new one!!!! Journalist? What a fheckin joke….

  8. Did you know that Craig Whyte is dyslexic?

He was told he had to notify the FSA but instead notified the SFA.

He was also told about the EBT problem with HMRC but thought it was something to do with a BET.

    Poor man

  9. If they are deemed not be in administration then they will judged to be operating on an insolvent basis and are up the creek

Do Duff & Perhaps have to pay back all their 600 squids an hour?

  15. Replying to posts from last thread:

Cadizzy, I’m more in the UK this year than previously, and should be in London for the next month or two. I’ll have my people call your people….

thomthetim, “Pop in again and perhaps you can resume your discussions with, was it Neg Anon or Madmitch? Then again, perhaps not. :<)" I had lots of fun exchanging views with both of those fine gentlemen, and championing Prudence's reputation against the attractions of the other, more forward ladies they had fallen for. Incidentally, how is 'speculate to accumulate' trending on Twitter these days?

    thebhoywithmcgraininhisside: you're very welcome :-)

canamalar, fancy a beer later on at the Louden?

  16. So, if Rangers FC are technically not in administration, then I guess they don’t need to pay D&P any money for their services thus far. Suppose that makes D&P just like every other creditor; shafted.

    Just sayin’

  17. The Lizard King

I think so. original deadline was 10 April (I think). Technically its a new insolvency event so will push back deadlines by 8 weeks and under the letter of the law it should be another 10 point deduction but as other admin incorrectly organised, I’d be fairly sure they won’t get another 10 points deducted.

Would laugh all night long if they do however.

  18. for Ogilvie to come out with any statement it means that he can see he is in deep shit, but tries to deflect it onto David Murray

  19. Actually what Campbell Ogilvie said today was this:

“I am soon to be toast”

And Campbell, ye knew all the time, ya cheeky wee SFA head honcho ye….

  20. The Lizard King on

Ogilvie’s statement screams “bring me in to safety, I’m ready to sing”

  21. With Brian Kennedy’s statement that he would step in and rescue rangers, I was wondering why anyone would buy an insolvent company with no European money next season and a potentially huge tax bill with HMRC – an organisation famed for not doing deals. And that’s not to mention any fallout from dual contracts.

It was probably the same big, bad boy that shot JR, killed Richard Kimble’s wife and the wife of the guy in the Schawshank Redemption.

Aye, ah bet it was him.

  23. So Rangers are not really in administration after all. After CW fought so hard to get them appointed too. Since then though they have made some pretty impressive statements about how they where simply going to remove CW from the picture. MAE bores so to speak….. Wouldn’t be funny if CW himself challenged the formal appointment of his preferred administrators?

apart from our good taxpaying selves who at the BBC employs Chick Young and his fellow clowns ?

I mean what is the name of the person who decides yes Chick Young is a good journalist let’s employ him ?

  25. the 2nd contract issue is a complete smoke screen the SFA law is very clear “all payments, whether made by the club or otherwise, which are to be

made to a player solely relating to his playing activities must be fully

recorded”. The fact that payments were actually made in the form of an

EBT is not being disputed, so the key thing here is whether or not

the payments are for playing activities. If they are, and I can think of no logical argument that they could possibly be for anything else, they must be declared to the SFA.

For those who see parallels with the Kubler Ross grief process.

We are now very much in the bargaiining stage about halfway when the pain of holding on starts to hurt more than the pain of letting go.

Fear of what might come is also being reduced by the thought that perhaps a Div3 start for Newco is not that terrible fate given it keeps triumphs on the agenda but at a much lowet cost base.

The grief process is doing its job of creating something new and hopefully better than the now corrupt cadaver that thinks its a zombie and not a corpse.

  28. MAE bores so to speak, should read ” nae borra, so to speak”. Ipad predicitve text aaaaaaargh!!!!!!!!!

  29. Dear Campbell Ogilvie,

The way I see it matey, you’ve got two choices.

You can do it like a tory, they get caught with their pants down or hands in the till, they stand on a fancy staircase somewhere and at least have the decency to give an empty apology to the masses before retiring to the Cotswolds and their memoirs.

    Then ye’ve got your despots….

Gadaffi got found up a drain, Bin Laden was in a compound playin the PS3.

Saddam was in a rat infested cellar.

    Up tae you bawjaws.

  30. I think this is all very simple. If Campbell Ogilvie had nothing to hide then Campbell Ogilvie would have given us some straight talking, not evaded the issue at hand.

By the way a guy tried to give me a masonic handshake today. Saw it coming. He got the full non secret society proper mans hand shake. Have to say though they are crafty at it. You have to be full on quick to avoid getting a knuckle rubbed.

  31. Hi Paul,

I’m with you why is Campbell wasting his precious time making statements stating he has no responsibility for R@ngers players contracts post 2002.

We have been repeatedly told through various outlets that there is nothing wrong with these contracts, they are totally ligit, so why is Mr Ogilvy trying to disatnce himself.

We are less than a month from the split, all we need from the SFA is that all the RFC player contracts are compliant.

  32. I detect delaying tactics from SPL and SFA in hope that something can be done behind the scenes to save the huns

  33. Afternoon all,

This administration problem for the huns stinks…was it incompetence or planned? The Friday deadline for interested bidders for whats left of the stinking corpse seems a little too contrived and hurried.

    Hail Hail

  34. Bhoys,

anyone tell me what the posts regarding the huns not being

in administration relate to,is there an article or link to look at
