SFA prepare to suspend Rangers

634

Scottish FA chief executive, Stewart Regan, this evening announced that the Association would not appeal against the Court of Session decision to rule in Rangers favour over the 12 month player registration ban imposed by a Judicial Panel for not paying social taxes between May 2011 and February 2012.  Rangers didn’t pay social taxes in the period since February 2012, the period during which they launched their appeal.

I hear Rangers today served the ruling on the SFA and that the SFA have responded by informing the club that, under Fifa auspices, fresh proceedings will be raised against them for taking a civil court action, which will lead to a minimum punishment of Rangers being suspended from the Association.

The initial case will be referred back to the SFA Appellate Tribunal.  Regan reminded us that Rangers appeal to the civil courts broke two SFA Articles and five Fifa statues.  The tone and content of his statement demonstrated the frustration at the behaviour of the errant club.  He suggested the SFA would tell clubs [Rangers] that they must accept and abide by the Articles of Association at next week’s AGM.

While it appears the Association is about to get tough, they are in the middle of a problem of the making of the SFA and, in particular, Mr Doncaster of the SPL.  Here is the problem…

Rangers believe they are needed.  This belief is absolute and has been reinforced by the people running our game, the very same people who have been rag-dolled by Rangers in recent weeks.

The SPL waited almost three months for Rangers to respond to their demand for information into what is allegedly the biggest scam in British sporting history.  Despite this, throughout that time, the SPL chief executive campaigned vigorously for a Newco-Rangers to become the first club in Scottish football history to be parachuted into the top league.

It took the SPL 11 weeks to set a deadline.  No wonder Clark, Whitehouse and Green think they can play hardball.

During this time the SFA, who are the only body competent to investigate if Rangers illegally registered players across all domestic competitions, have taken no action.  The SFA president, who was an executive director of Rangers when they introduced the controversial EBTs and who received and EBT himself, has remained in position throughout.

Time for strong leadership, Mr Regan.  Mr Doncaster, there’s always a career in the law.

I can see where Doncaster is coming from.. RFC at ANY cost…erm… I think that’s what he’s saying?

  3. At the start of this scandal when RFC became RFCiA it should be said it was a difficult situation for the football authorities after all Rangers are a massive club in the Scottish game.

However as the weeks have rolled by and the scandal has got bigger and bigger and the list of football crimes has increased almost by the day, surely it’s made the job of the football authorities very easy.

Rangers must be punished by the full force available – one year expulsion which should be enough time for them to clense themselves of all dirt.

For me this is now a very straightforward decision. Nothing complicated because they (rangers) have went too far (by some distance) and made the SFA and SPL’s job very easy.

The girs will be be taken down by their own deeds and rules are being changed(yesterday) and they will not survive but PLEASE do not let us go down the road of hatred, bigotry and FF

I know what you mean about the over the top comments – however as Paul67 has said, Doncaster has made an arse of this, the delay in the investigation into the double contracts, the lies about newco being same as cva, should mean him getting the sack.

  12. Not sure why Doncaster is doing D&P’s PR re success of a CVA. Disappointed that the interviewer didn’t point out that D&P had a vested interest, hence their view shouldn’t be accepted and repeated unchallenged.

In light of his bizarre insistence at this stage that he’s not expecting a newco application Doncaster is gonna look pretty stupid if the CVA fails, and he’s back facing a newco.

My favourite line though, talking of the difference between a CVA and liquidation, from a creditor’s perspective “If you’re mauled by a lion or by a tiger the experience is pretty much the same.”.

Is Doncaster’s defense that they can only apply the rules as they are a valid argument?

If the rules do not fit the situation do you try and shoe horn the situation into the rules or do you take emergency action and invoke emergency rules that do cater for the situtation?

Any Government has to adapt to developing situations and will do so in emergencies. The SPL have hidden behind the rules are the rules argument because it suits their purpose to apply a shoe horn but not the purpose of protecting the integrity of the game.

How long would it have taken to convene a meeting that said that were a club failed to pay taxes for more than say 6 months they would be suspended until the taxes are paid.

or do they need a rule to be able to pass emergency rules?

What a dreadful disappointment to see Raymound Burr (sic) Buchanan hapless interview with Doncaster. On Saturday 19th May, Pat Fenlon was sent to the stand during the Scottish Cup Final.

On Tuesday 22nd May Fenlom was charged by the SFA.

    3 Days later.

On Monday 23rd April Ali McCoist called for disclosure of the names of the judicial panel who applied a transfer embargo on RFCIA, despite already knowing who they were, with security threats following for the 3 individuals.

It is now 31st May and no charge has been brought against McCoist.

    6 weeks later.

Similarly, no charge was brought when he all but named Jim McCluskey as being part of a review panel when Sone Aluko was deemed (correctly) to have dived in a match at Ibrox.

    Can anyone explain this?

  27. AuldHeid – Doncaster has one motive. Make money for the SPL. Nothing else matters.

Integrity – pah. Honesty – pah. League restructuring -pah.

Not interested. Bottom line is his wage packet. He needs to be gone. A bit like Them.

  28. Auldheid, i do hope waht you say is true, that SFA have Consulated with FIFA, if they have not!! FIFA could at this moment in time boot Celtic FC out of Europe.

    The hat

Yes indeed, but Rangers have now served the ruling on the SFA

SION as you quite rightly say did not as they were warned if they do, they would be expelled staright away by Swiss FA, under clear intructions from FIFA

If the SFA have not taken instruction from FIFA here, then we could be legaly booted out of CL now!!

  29. Yeti sized foot in Donkytowns mouth…I reckon Gandhi wiz a tim anyhowz.

    Stupid huns.

  30. I actually don’t know whether Doncaster believes whether a CVA will or won’t be approved, he can only take clubs at their word until it is proven they are lying. I know Rangers are lying, D&P are lying, the CVA will fail, but Doncaster can’t go on TV and say they’re lying, he can’t.

The nonsense he spouted about the difference between a CVA and Newco was embarrassing for him though and for that his coat is on a shoogly nail.

He may simply have been buying time, he is an employee of the SPL, made up of clubs and he may have wanted to fudge the issue until he knew what his bosses wanted.

I’m not an apologist for Doncaster, but everything going on now is new territory for all. He is not a leader in this, he will do what the clubs tell him to do.

The SFA are in charge of this situation in reality, Regans silence is at least as damning.

Having said all that, the huns dont seem to need anyone’s help in dying.

Fair enough, Doncaster’s job is to bring in as much money for the league as he can – and the evil empire being part of the league brings in more than a league without them would.

What that means for Scottish football long-term revenue wise may not be so positive if it wrecks the integrity of the league – but I guess Doncaster will be long gone by then.

Maybe you could point to where anyone on here indulged in what you describe as the ‘hate and bigotry’ of FF. That’s a pretty poor slur. People criticised him for his performance, myself included, and like me they perhaps have no confidence in him to bring about what is considered to be right and fitting. Paul’s article also indicates that he is not fit for purpose, and he is a fence-sitter at best, a low-level apparatchik who is not good enough for what is needed at the moment. Now do you get it? Now do you get that posters on here are a billion light years away from FF, and should never, ever, be mentioned in the same breath let alone sentence.
