SFA review process adheres

293

If the SFA today uphold the red card given for violent conduct against Auston Trusty on Sunday, we have verification of what we will face between now and the end of the season.  The VAR intervention for the softest violent act in history would never have happened in a league season with a commanding lead.

Only Celtic fans want Celtic to win this league.  If we come through such a torrid season and make it five in a row, it would devastate our opponents.  Our club is vulnerable right now and we cannot expect an inch from anyone.  I hope my instinct is wrong and the SFA review process adheres to the long-established definition of violent conduct.

I think Trusty is onto plums:

“Violent conduct is when a player uses or attempts to use excessive force or brutality against an opponent when not challenging for the ball”

    Excessive force – yip

Not challenging for the ball – yip

    Next.

  2. I’m sure Wilson will be on it, writing a strongly worded message to Rangers asking what’s for lunch in the lounge at the weekend.

He’ll be too busy toasting the King to even notice the officials, rule brittania .

  3. Our board must insist that Scotland do what England and elsewhere do, by ensuring refs don’t officiate matches for a team they supported. Full time refs should also be in place, rather than the two nights and a Sunday for the funny handshake brigade

” we cannot expect an inch from anyone”

    —————–

Maybe if our previous manager had been given the inch he deserved we wouldn’t have to be worrying about referees. But then we wouldn’t have the much-loved old firm title race……

    We’ve made ourselves vulnerable.

    Thanks for everything Dermot. Cheerio.

PS stick the £53 for Ibrox where the sun don’t shine.

What a sad bitter wee chap you are.

You appear here regularly when Celtic is going through a rough patch. Eg the Covid season and then not so much when we are winning.

As for Brian Wilson, the last thing he would want to be doing right now is stepping in a chair of Celtic at Ibrox in a game where we have little chance of winning. I sat along from him once at Ibrox and heard him called all kinds of crap from the scum around the directors box area when we lost 3-0. He was challenged and abused as a Labour MP and a F’n pape ….He was neither an MP at that time or a catholic. I have argued with him often over independence but I don’t think lunch at Ibrox is remotely of interest to him.

FYI actual directors don’t go into a lounge at Ibrox. The go into a very small antiquated board room with pictures of former chairmen looking down on them from on high. It used to be that David Murray was the only one in colour. I think they had changed now funnily enough.

The lounge you are referring to would be the blue room which is more for vip guests and hangers on. It usually has a wee buffet of sorts but for early kick offs bacon rolls etc.

  7. Beaton for Ibrox, McLean on VAR (the brother of the ex-Hun).

Time to nominate Collum for a Nobel prize for trolling.

  8. I can’t help but feel it doesn’t matter.

Hearts should probably fear the officials more than us as the weeks progress.

  9. ZIGGYDOC1 Re ref supporting.

I dont think it would be a case of who you support more which team do you NOT like / support .Winning trophies, leagues and cups ,in the past was accomplished by Celtic sides who still found hatred from officials, but got on with it and swept aside the same officials who are/ were affilitated to organisations that strictly forbid membership from a different outlook on life.Only in Scotland.

Surely 42000 rangers fans paying £53 per head with half of it going to Celtic is a good thing ?

I doubt a single fan who is lucky enough to get a ticket for the Broomloan will be complaining. One of the best experiences in the world for me is winning at Ibrox. I will never tire of enjoying seeing their stands empty as we party. Sadly we haven’t won there so much of late. On the 2 occasions we have I was lucky enough to be in the corner. I would have paid 10 x for that ticket.

Try getting a ticket for the Scotland France Rugby game the day before for less than £300 btw.

I’m surprised that nobody appears to have considered the decision from the following angle:

A goal is scored and then chopped off in spite of there being no issue with the cross, shot, offside, etc., because early in the build up a player of the conceding team had been pulled back, preventing him from reaching a pass, leading to the turnover of possession that ultimately resulted in the goal being scored.

So although the execution of the scoring opportunity itself was fine, it is effectively considered that this wouldn’t have happened had the initial offence not happened, with the game being taken back to the point of the initial offence.

Likewise, had the Hibs defender not committed the offence of illegally holding Trusty (denying him free movement and the possibility of engineering a goalscoring opportunity when the ball was played into the penalty area), then Trusty’s transgression would not have occurred. Or indeed had the defender been punished for his offence by the award of a freekick or penalty to Celtic, the outcome of the match would almost inevitably have been so much more favourable to Celtic.

  12. Last year the quarter final prices against Hibs at Parkhead were :

    Adults £25.

    Concessions £17.

Hail hail the ” Old Firm”

  13. Beaton should have been sacked by now for the cheating to help his Team. He is heavily conflicted and should be nowhere near Ibrox apart from in with the UB (he is a Ned — for clarity not a non exec director).

Had the misfortune to share a flight with him and a cabal of hun refs en route to a European Tie many moons ago — before they all were demoted. Dallas jnr was also there and it was perfectly clear what team they all supported. Beaton was the most vocal with his more or less skinhead at the time. It wasn’t a Hun game as UEFA or any other league in the world wouldn’t have a bunch of them in charge to ref their own team.

It is actually match fixing by the SFA and Celtic need to put their concerns in writing before the game with the numerous examples of Beaton & co.

There are 3 key questions Celtic need to ask the SFA for guarantee’s on

    1. Will the SFA guarantee the safety of our Management & Team within the stadium

    2. Will the SFA guarantee that the officials will not resort to using Red Cards and penalties to help the team they support as evidenced in the last weeks.

    3. Will the officials stop the game when the home support starts with the racist songs.

It’s time for the Board to call it out.

    Burnley

    It’s straightforward profiteering.

I agree those that attend will largely be happy to pay. That’s baked into the profiteering decision. Doesn’t make it right to exploit it. By definition those unwilling to pay will self select out of it.

The hun fans getting shafted in greater numbers is the only upside.

The economic profile of rugger fans is completely different to your average Celtic fan.

  16. glendalystonsils on

Yep . We have given the huns more of a leg-up in the title race than Beaton and his cronies ever could .

They will do what they can of course , but they won’t have to do too much .

One red card or one penalty award against , one penalty for us denied , and we’re stuffed .

Good Celtic teams of the past could cope because we were 3 goals up , unlike our present 1 goal a game incumbents .

  17. GlassTwoThirdsFull on

So let’s say we got better refs. And more decisions went our way. And we picked up more points. And we won leagues by big margins. What then – appoint a dud manager to level it back up?

  18. From previous thread, I agree we are not helping ourselves with an inflexible line-up – 4 3 3 in every game.

BR stuck with this and gave opposition coaches, including Sevco, a chance to negate it and dominate midfield. Hence his failure latterly to beat Sevco, for example.

I am bemused that Shaun, who is presumably auditioning for the role, is not trying to be his own man. He must see we are being overrun box to box, especially when we have guys like Tierney who have played CB and holding midfield for Scotland and could slot in to help out there, as could our other powerful fullbacks, or even McCowan.

Especially bemusing when MON in his first spell played 5 3 2, with a very strong holding midfield player and wing-backs who played as midfielders when out of possession. 3-5-2.

If we go to Ibrox with the same set up, Rohl will know exactly what to do. I really am surprised by this. I don’t claim to be any kind of tactical guru, but never changing your system invites its negation, as we have recently seen week after week with the number of chances we are giving up to the opposition.

Narrow wins (unlike trebles 😂) were papering over the cracks, until Hibs, where they are not even doing that.

  19. Lucky Cody

Genuine question – what led you to think they were definitely Huns on that flight? Were things said? If so, they should have been reported.

  20. PeterLatchfordsBelly on

I would say the appointment if Beaton for Sunday is goading but the alternatives are no different, as we witnessed on Sunday, at Tynecastle etc, etc.

Dickinson is even more openly biased towards the hun. Robertson cheats by stealth with every decision going against Celtic (Hibs 1 foul earlier in the season was extreme, even by his standards). They’re even bringing in the new generation of surname, surnames now to shaft us.

On Robertson, not a catholic but attended St Ninians HS in Eastwood. Described by my pal who runs the Glasgow Schools team as being ‘no friend of Celtic’s’ despite his chosen school.

  21. p.s. totally agree with your points 1 and 2.

Very concerned for the safety of our players and staff.

And look at the furore, correctly, over alleged racism in Real Madrid v Benfica, and yet, the best small country in the world (puke) lets it happen every week.

If MO’N plays the same system at Ibrox it’s negligence. We’ll get mollicated.

A 3-5-2 that finds places for guys with the right temperament like Saracchi and Araujo in the middle of the park.

I fear for us if he sticks with Yang, Tounetki and Nygren for this match. They’ll all hide.

The definition of madness etc but I’m fairly certain that’s what he’ll do. In which case it could be 4 or 5 nil.

The 3-5-2 would give us an element of surprise and a fighting chance of a draw – of even to sneak an unlikely win.

  24. The Battered Bunnet on 24th February 2026 12:08 pm

    “Excessive force – yip”

Really? Excessive if done for no reason but in context of freeing yourself from being fouled?!

He tried twice to shake the player off using the arm that was being held. No joy.

He then slapped the arm off with the other hand. We may have different views of excessive but seemed a fairly reasonable next step to me. I’ve seen him do this in several games and other players too.

Still think the appeal will be rejected tho as the MIBs close ranks.

  25. Like I said on previous no rocket science we are were we are and all know why but need a formation that suits our best available players and cannot carry any passengers we can win enough games but must do enough to win firstly by playing the best in players the best formation for them.

  26. No one needs to be a tactical guru to know our present 4-3-3 is not fit for purpose. This mainly down to injuries, and Hatate,Bernardo, rank rotten. We had a great chance to sign the Croat/Canadian international in the window.Holding midfielder, for around£4 million.Wanted to come, but we reneged on a nearly done deal.Could we use him now?.

I said when Martin was first muted to come,we were bringing a Dinosaur in.To much tut tutting,or stronger. It was no offence to Martin, but the game has moved on vastly since he had managed.I think we can see that now.His substitutions on Sunday, baffling.

Anyway,we have a very strong group in KT,Aurajo,Chamberain,Sarrachi,Calmac,Scales,if he plays well.Nygren can score,Caravan, can ,has to improve. So that should be the 4-4-2,as I think e will make the mistake of not playing Arthur.Huns will be throwing everything into the box.
