SFA take correct decision

Based on the estimates of the Chief Scientific Advisor of the actual (not confirmed) number of carriers in the country right now, and allowing for the current daily increase, we could expect between 10 and 20 carriers at Ibrox on Sunday.

Those carriers shout and sing, projecting their breath particles several meters into the vicinity of dozens of people each.  When goals are scored, fans embrace, heartily.  Everyone touches their face.  Football games on this scale, where goals are celebrated, would rattle coronavirus through the population quicker than any other gathering.  More people would die as a result.

The SFA made the right decision.  They acted ahead of two hesitant governments, both of whom wanted this game to go ahead.

Let’s look after each other.

    Hi CQN, it’s been a while, although I have no issues with Paul67s headline, I just do not ever trust the SFA.

     

     

    With the suspension of Scottish fitba and the unending financial woes of the Sevco, this would be a great time for an administration event. Minus points in a league that is going to be awarded to Celtic, lose the debt as another financial group buys the bricks n mortars, access debt free money to the max and beyond.

    I saw footage this week of Xi Jinping visiting Wuhan, on walkabout meeting health workers. No way he would risk that unless it was on the wane. Also read that their basketball season will start up again in 2 weeks.

     

    So that’s roughly 4 months from initial outbreak to green shoots of recovery. And they had no prior warning or time to plan & prepare!

     

    So if we follow a similar timeline, we could expect good news by the end of June.

    SFA, for once be feckin brave and say if nothing has improved in say 4 weeks the season is over and league placings stand. European places stand etc. etc. and we can all move on.

     

     

    SC semis can be played before season starts or as soon as the beginning of the new season allows.

     

     

    Anything else is corruption of industrial scale.

    Nothing will be said until the 55 members of UEFA have their video conference next Tuesday so that they are all singing off the same hymn sheet. Most leagues will have completed >70% of their fixtures so Lenny’s formula of dividing points by games played is the correct formula and might throw up a couple of surprises for those with legendary ‘games in hand.’ 😉

    I would not compare the outbreak here to China. China used methods that no EU country will or could, that’s if you can trust their stats. I don’t think we’ll see football again for many months.

     

     

    We’re fortunate that Liverpool are runaway leaders in the prem, the EPL will not deny them their title. Scotland will find it difficult to not follow the English precedent.

    My take on what will happen at the UEFA video conference next Tuesday:

     

    UEFA will want its showpiece European competitions completed before the summer so that the money spinning competitions of Champions League and to a lesser extent Europa League are ready to go for season 20/21. This probably means leagues will not be extended. Will they declare the leagues null and void? I doubt it. Present league positions will have to be accepted and any team taking its national association to court will result in that national association’s teams being excluded from European competitions.

     

    The Euros will be sacrificed on the altar of Mammon and moved to next year when COVID-19 will have no affect the attendances and money spun.

    If at all possible :- I would prefer to delay, rather than cancel the outstanding games for as long as it takes , even if it means indefinitely postponing the start of next season.

     

    I want to see us win 9 then 10, fairly, squarely and on the park.

     

    I do not want to see season 2019 / 20 with an asterisk against it. The huns will love that and the ambiguity it will bring.

     

     

    Our club is in good shape to withstand even the most severe financial consequences, even Sidney Tim would have to concede that point.

     

    That’s without any new cash injections from sponsorship or from next year’s ST sales.

     

    I renewed last Thursday and if circa 20,000 supporters did likewise that’s about £10 m coming into the club.

     

     

    Given the huns may have a similar ST scinerio, talk of impending financial Armageddon is premature.

     

     

    HH to all, the journey has presently stalled.
