SFA tears that Newco are little more than cannon fodder, CQN Podcast launches

293

Speaking to the media over the weekend, SFA president, Alan McRae, suggested it would be boring if Celtic won another treble and that Rangers (sic.) making a proper run at the title was necessary. McRae was, perhaps, the worse for wear, when Aberdeen pushed Celtic all the way in the Scottish Cup final, while finishing second in the league and League Cup runners up.

This mind-set is so informative. Aberdeen are dismissed while Newco are the great red white and blue hope. Perhaps after another season of Ibrox ineptitude the penny will drop at the top of the SFA that what people previously regarded as the ‘Rangers challenge’ is over and it’s not coming back.

Despite Newco signing their captain on a free transfer, Aberdeen have a more sustainable financial model than Newco last season’s third placed side. They have conventional banking facilities, with a credit score high enough to support an overdraft. They will lose and make money in the seasons ahead, but will never be in financial crisis.

The brutal truth is that Newco are little more than cannon fodder. They bring millions to the game, putting money into the coffers of each opponent, but their own income is insufficient to resource the challenge Alan McRae craves. This will not change until, or unless, Celtic are allowed to leave Scottish football.

No one will be able to put a glove on Celtic anytime soon.  Even England struggled to do so on Saturday.

The first Celtic Quick News podcast, A Celtic State of Mind, launched yesterday. Legendary Celtic author, Paul John Dykes and Kevin Graham of the Affiliation introduce the series, with guest, Paul Gallagher.

This is the first in what will be a weekly series of podcasts. I’m delighted with the people we have involved in the project. Catch it here, you will enjoy.

  1. BlantyreCelt,

The length of the pilot was dictated by the fact we were reviewing an invincible season and previewing what might happen. Also, the interview with Paul Gallagher and music on the pod come in at 40 odd minutes.

I’m sure the length will be reduced as time goes on.

Plus, a lot of the Celtic pods come in at well over an hour.

Thanks for the kind comments those who have listened.

Celtic’s silence is more deafening to me than the SFA’s.

With the criticism by the guns in relation to our great season, of how bad Scottish fitba is etc, if Aberdeen and his are weakened during the transfer window, and the guns finish 2nd next season in the league, will those same huns even mention how Scottish fitba was weaker still, and how that could be a deciding factor should they finish 2nd….of course not…they will be telling the world how much Pedro has improved THEM !

    Too True Paul…

It is quite frankly shows that these folk are so out of touch and insular that they have no idea how they look to any informed observer.

However it echos the siren call from the SFA and SPL, SFL in general and Campbell Ogilvie in particular, from some Six Years ago. Of course the “ground work” for that particular disaster was been done well in advance.

Now Mr Campbell Ogilvie had a stake, he was key to the architecture of the Rangers swindle and was their representative at the SFA when President.

The armaggedon, Scotland needs a strong Rangers call was picked up and duly circulated through all aspects of the SMSM.

They frigid the licences and memberships and commercial deals, up to and including the TV agreement to aid and abet Rangers.

Of course this ended in total failure and humiliation… yet six years later, unbelievably thid dead horse is still being whipped.

    Now that is Stupid.

    BUT

We know Campbell Ogilvie’s reasoning and what he and his accomplices hoped to gain, when he was SFA President.

Now what is way beyond stupid is Mr Alan McRae… after all that’s gone on before…

    Financial Doping

    Tax Evasion

    Licence Fraud

    Administration

    Charlotte Fakes

    The multitude of Court Cases

The damning revelations from said Court Cases.

Meanwhile, over the other side of Glasgow a Football Club is run in an exemplary manner and reaps great Financial and Sporting benefits that are way above and beyond expectations in their playing environment.

They even assist in the rehabilitation of the Scotland National Teams reputation.

Which Club is the saviour and exemplar for the future of Scottish yes this is Scotland.

Mr Alan McRea wants a strong Rangers MKII and to see Celtic drop down from it’s Current level of excellence.

That takes a special type of Stupid…

    Hail Hail

  9. The new CQN Podcast can be split into two parts.

Paul Dykes and Kevin Graham are introduced as our presenters and chat for just over an hour about the Invincible season, their own Celtic stories and there’s some great stuff in there, then they start to talk about the Manchester music scene they grew up with, playing the Inspiral Carpets’ This is How it Feels.

That’s a great listen on its own.

The podcast continues with a forthright opinion piece from Paul Gallagher, which was recorded just after the first 5-1 game last September, so this was just before we played Manchester City.

Gallagher’s love of Celtic is strong as are his opinions. His predictions for the season ahead are interesting, he certainly did better predicting that Celtic would win the Treble than he did thinking City would win the league and league cup.

City were riding high at that time, until Celtic burst their bubble.

He doesn’t buy the same club nonsense and says why. He reckons Celtic would be welcome in England but not the other lot as their fans can’t behave. He talks about his brothers being Celtic supporter and much more.

So if you don’t want to listen to the Podcast in one go, simply split into two parts.

And if you are thinking we should be looking to shorten the length for next week, we have two guests coming on…Auldheid and BRTH for an explosive session on Res12. They’ll want about two hours each!

It’s early days for the Podcast, but I reckon that it’s a great start and would urge people to have a listen and let us know what you think.

Got back from Vegas this morning. Spam and crispa for tea for a year and that’s even after being ahead on the tables overall.

Great atmosphere as you would expect – it’s been an amazing last few months to be a Celtix fan. Great also to meet not just some old friends but to chat to some of the ex-Celts in attendance- Jim Craig, George McCluskey, Vic Davidson, Bobby Petta, Joe Miller, Pat McCkuskey and John Hughes had to endure my dtivel and did so with great humour and patience

I see that after the election that one party is to form a coalition with a collection of crooks, chancers, bigots and xenophobes. Why has the DUP stooped so low?

    TET,

I read the post about the non refunded tenner. That has to be an admin error, as it is wrong otherwise.

Of course if the money rolls in and there is a waiting list for STs, then surely that must indicate that the paying public are happy with the state of affairs.

    Celtic supporters are not daft.

They won’t stump up their cash for a corrupt game, would they?

    Of course not.

You know my view of Celtic’s position.

  24. I find the DUP stance on same-sex marriage and gay rights pretty ironic given that Arlene Foster is quite clearly Transgender anyway….

Good craic here in Sidari , met up with TONYROME and his good lady and niece yesterday , great company !!! Corfu is Green & Whyte !!!

  26. My friends in Celtic,

The paying public of the Celtic support are not daft. In the vast majority of cases they have to make certain sacrifices to afford their ST’s.

They follow the team in record numbers ,knowing all about the cheating and skullduggery that has blighted our game.

Yes we want a ” day of reckoning ” but we realise that hurting the team and the club is ludicrous and frankly self defeating.

BR’s team , the entertainment, the vision, the ambition and the results deserve the biggest live audience possible.

As long as the journey continues, we will attract near capacity crowds. We all really need some joy and happiness in our lives. Celtic helps provide that for many.

    Hail, Hail to all.

PS : There is only one scenario that could adversely affect our crowds in the short / medium term and that is Far too distressing to contemplate at this time.
