SFL delivers as SPL Ltd facing insolvency

1374

The Scottish Football League today placed an upper limit on which division Sevco can play in next season – their Third.  We must now wait on the company providing sufficient information to complete their application to the SFL and for membership of the Scottish FA.  Although many Rangers fans want Sevco to join the Third Division, chief exec Charles Green was clearly hoping to start life higher up the food chain.

The overwhelming nature of this verdict indicates the solidarity between clubs and fans, throughout the divisions, on how our sport is governed.  This is a good thing but it leaves one burning question on the table:

Is the Scottish Premier League insolvent?

Last week SPL chief exec Neil Doncaster told SFL clubs that the Premier League would be unable to meet its contractual obligations if they did not vote Sevco into the First Division.  Unless this was a shameless lie designed to bully clubs into giving Doncaster what he wanted, the Scottish Premier League Ltd should seek to appoint an administrator without delay.

You can ignore comments about league reconstruction at some unspecified point in the future, Doncaster told us last year that “those who want 16 teams in the top flight are deluding themselves.”

The Scottish Football League does not need the SPL, or its money, to continue to thrive as a community-based sporting entity.  They will flourish.  What happens to the SPL remains to be seen.

As we have observed once or twice before, M. Platini, where are you?  We need the football world to assist with the survival of the game in one of its historic heartlands.

He is indeed the assylum’s patriarch and grand master.

Ernie can rub people up the wrong way, so can we all, but at least he does it as the one person. I have no problem if posters tear into another if they have been personally slighted but to attack/bait the guy just becasue he had an unpopular opinion was, to my mind, wrong. I’m sure plenty of others would have done the same if it had not been for the sevco train wreck that was happening all around them at the time.

I have no compunction, nor regrets, about getting tore into posters who snyde me, especially the ones who make a career out of it, and I have no problem with posters telling me I’m out of order over it either. But unless Paul67 flashes the yellow card the snydes, under whichever name, are fair game.

I don’t really concern myself too much over respect, it is often thin andsubjective. If you can respect yourself and be happy with your decisions and actions, then be happy.

apologies mate the second part of that last post was in response to you.

And if Aulheid is reading, do you remember that ‘God Nudge’, well if you only knew what God and I know regards that particular event.

Kitalba seriously. You have the better of me. What post (time ?) are you referring to? I need to read back. Ernie has never rubbed me up the wrong way but I did him once big time…something about the Irish loving the English more than the Scots.. so elaborate please.

  4. Apologies Mags, all that was written regards Ernie was meant for Petec, my mind was elsewhere for a moment there.

  5. Talking about celebrations, time I went down the bottle shop and got that bottle of wine I promised myself.

    Friday 13th July, 00.18am:

“Dorin Goian has personally assured Ally McCoist and Charles Green that he will stick it out with Rangers, according to his agent. The Romanian defender, who has been paid his full wages for June, is on his way back to Glasgow today to start pre-season training. Goian has continually pledged over the summer that he wants to stay with Rangers.

Even this week, the former Palermo stopper has had offers to move, says his agent Florin Manea. But he has revealed that Goian has communicated directly with manager McCoist and owner Green that he wants to remain at Ibrox — no matter what division they end up in. He said: “We have given Rangers our word that Dorin will remain and he will honour his contract.”“

    Friday 13th July, 10.30pm:

“Dorin Goian has become the first Rangers player to walk away from the Third Division — just 24 hours after insisting he would stay no matter what. The Romanian defender had claimed he wanted to stay at Ibrox and even revealed he’d given a verbal assurance to both owner Charles Green and manager Ally McCoist.

But Goian, who is due to arrive back in Scotland on Saturday after an extended summer break, performed a spectacular U-turn as news broke of Rangers’ tumble into the Third Division broke. Goian said: ‘I am not playing in the fourth division of Scottish football — there’s no question of that.”“

  9. It’s one of the most puzzling things about this whole saga: whilst most non RFC (corpus delecti) fans in the country are screaming for Regan, Dungcaster etc… to be sacked for their outrageous scheming to parachute Sevco Scotland Ltd into the highest echelons of Scottish football, the fans of RFC (c.d.) are calling for the same thing!?

Whilst Regan and Co are doing their best to keep the newco alive, the fans of RFC (c.d.) want him to fail!?

There are many aspects of this saga that I don’t really understand but the attitude of the hunnites puzzles me the most.

My old man keeps on and on about what a book it will be when all this is eventually put into a novel but the way things are going, I doubt that we’ll ever get to the point where the story is finished in order that a book can be written.

If RFC (c.d.) owners had any true business acumen they’d setup exclusive rights to the story now. The revenue would probably wipe out their debt.

Mind you, that’ll probably be accompanied with them having lots and lots of time on their hands to read it from inside their nice, cosy cells.

  10. Rangers, used to playing in some of Europe’s finest stadiums, will be forced to play on a sloping pitch with a wide shale track around it when they visit Berwick Rangers’ Shielfield Park – also home to Berwick Bandits speedway club – next season.

Apologies, had to go down to the wine shop.

I went to bed after the time I usually start in the office, but if I’d gone earlier I wouldn’t have slept.

Yeah it’s still raining which is a shame because tomorrow we have the fair which is the biggest fund raiser to offset the churches mortgage. If it doesn’t ease up soon the fair will be cancelled and it means a lot of extra interest onto the loan.

I still don’t think we have the end of it but I do think there is no way Regan and Ogilvie can keep their jobs.

Can anybody remember when was the last statement made by Ogilvie?
