The Scottish Football League programme is now finished with only play-offs still to complete but there is still a great deal of business to complete. The remarkable persistence of First Division clubs to find a financial model which will allow them to retain full time football shows no sign of ending, despite the difficulties presented from a couple of quarters.
Meanwhile the Third Division champions have even more pressing matters. They have now finished their league programme and can now officially be told what they have perhaps unofficially suspected for some weeks. Charles Green has agreed to remain a director until the end of this month. Before he goes the ownership of Ibrox, as well as the appropriateness of the club’s IPO in December, will need to be established. They have a three week window but nothing happens until the lawyers report, which I expect this week.
It was two years ago today Sir David Murray took a £1 payment and relieved himself of outstanding commitments to Lloyds Banking Group, the legacy of his time at Rangers. The support Craig Whyte received at critical times in the months which followed was breath-taking. Every hack, side-kick, and numpty ‘fan’ who told the rest to set aside all common sense deserve a medal for what they did to that club.
They don’t even understand the mock-worship Celtic fans offer Whyte is a parody on where they were 2011-12.

We’ll fight about it tomorrow, so I’ll not bother fighting with you now…. fair enough?

Absolutely not– the entire “replacing Joe McBride” Myth is exploded in the book– Joe was injured on 24th December–18 days AFTER Willie signed for Celtic.

Thankyou for the kind words.
I might just update the Lubo story one day as something else has since come to light.
As for the boxing ones– was meant to be working on another but distracted by Wallace!

BRTH – “why did Jock sign WW in December 1966″ – I always thought it was to replace Joe McBride?
=======================
My recollection is that Jock thought Willie Wallace and Joe McBride were the perfect striking combination. His feeling was that the partnership would prove to be one of the greatest ever. Sadly, Joe’s injury put paid to that plan.

Fareed Zakaria column.
“Consider what happened to the Christians of Iraq, there were as many as 1.4m of them before the war. There are now about 500,000 of them and many of their churches have been destroyed. Christian life in Iraq, which has survived since the days of the bible,is in real danger of being extinguished by the current regime in Iraq”
Thoughts? And it is not a loaded question, btw.
Willie Wallace was one of two small, centre-forwards who always gave Billy McNeill a very hard time. Celtic frequently resorted to John Cushley to ‘subdue’ the other one (Jim Forrest). Alan Gordon of Hibs and ‘Dixie’ Ingram of Ayr were the best headers of the ball which Celtic faced on a regular basis. I understand that Jock had to choose eventually between Alan Gordon and Willie Wallace to complete his squad. The shape of the Celtic side would have changed dramatically had he signed Alan Gordon.

Willie Wallace:
Seem to recall a rumour going around at the time big JS signed him that the team now known as Sevco were in for him. Big JS done the deal on a Wednesday/ Thursday whilst Sevco were abroad (Euro game – Eastern Block/ Russia?).
Look forward to reading the book. H!H!

If CQN had been around in ’67 ….
Those strikers were hiding for much of the match. And what did Johnstone contribute? Stein should have hooked him at half time.

You must have been top of the class in the dot-to-dot competitions!
Canny see where persecutions of Christians leads to Iran getting the bomb, but still mightily p-d off at persecution of minorities in newly “freed” countries.
I think we ignore such at our peril,no matter their beliefs. Persecution and popular support garnered has led us down a few rocky roads in the past.
