From what I see in photographs, Christopher Jullien, who completed his transfer to Celtic this morning, is 8’6”, chiselled, and already filling the Celtic Park tunnel. We needed at least one central defender, so I am delighted he is in so early in the transfer window.
Second observation (after his stature): he is not a ‘project’, or at least, he’s an older and more expensive project than we normally buy. We will continue to sign players for less than €8m, but there is also value in this space. If this is the new norm, it is where we should be aiming.
Christopher will join Kristofer as our top central defender pairing, but we lost Boyata and Benkovic, so there remains a gap in the squad – perhaps one for a more traditional looking ‘project’.
The shadow of Daniel Prodan lingers in Scottish football. Prodan was a £2.2m Rangers signing in 1998, but whatever was done at his medical, a knee injury was not diagnosed. The player never played a game for the club, which was so chastened, it passed up the chance to sing John Hartson a year later. Hartson had a perfectly good knee, which had recovered from an earlier operation. Hartson went on to do well elsewhere, including against Rangers, who, having bought Prodan, lost Hartson, then punished by Hartson, were cursed by a unique treble.
Two years ago Celtic signed South African central defender, Rivaldo Cotzee, subject to a medical, which he failed, due to a knee injury. The player has played only a dozen games since, all in South Africa.
What do we know about knee injuries? Sometimes they get better, sometimes they don’t. David Turnbull must now wait for the outcome of an operation next week, which will determine his future in the game. Let’s hope he makes a full recovery; he was certainly a player I looked forward to seeing at Celtic.

If we do bring in 4/5 new players as 1st team regulars as it’s been reported Lenny has said then it’s becoming parity obvious why we accumulated so much spare cash. To bury the Govan mob while we secure the 10.
Wouldn’t that be a jelly and Ice cream moment ???
Sure would, Eddie. Sure would.
…and i hope it’s spiky railings when they land.
From what I hear. A left back and right back will come in. Although we are expecting 2 right backs in. One of our reserves as part of a deal for Killie’s O’Donnell, with possibly another of our young players of there’s on loan. I do not want to name the two young Celts at this stage but I have been told their names.
Until we meet again…

Predictably, the DR online, have the headline ‘ Celtic stump up the cash….’ after paying much more than we had to re Connell..
2.10 York- Treble Treble……..
Lennybhoy
Any names for the left back.
The BBC.
I don’t venture onto their online presence. To me they are to be avoided the same as The DR and The S*n.
I wouldn’t even comment on what they’ve reported, won’t copy and paste, nor have any links to any reports on any matter whatsoever.
I’ve found The National to be quite impartial, I know, on sport only, I mean, :)
I’m sure someone will put me right if I’m wrong in that assertion, regards their sports section, :))) por cierto
Thanks Lennybhoy for the continual updates, much appreciated por cierto.

I have actually agreed with a couple of James Forrest recent posts..
Maybe he is maturing or i am mellowing in my old age but whatever..
Credit where its due..

Is the Perraud deal dead, you posted three days ago it was almost completed and previously said Taylor of Killie was signing. So the left back next week should be one of those three.
O’Donnell is about 6’2,we’re going for the tallest back 4 in our history…
On the way to the dear green place, hoping to catch up with a few CQNers, hope to see you there?
Either that or I’ll be sitting in the Beer Cafe looking lost and alone?
I wonder if Lenny bumped in to Dani Alves whilst in Paris on his birthday……?
justathoughtCSC
I didn’t say Tierney was a mercenary,I said that if a club put up 30 million,it’s a cert Celtic would sell him,on to another player , McNair no thanks, seen him a few times ,does nothing for me,and him supposed to be a Sevco supporter, can’t see him signing for us
Keen to see moore of Jullien
And also to see young Luca bloom
Embdy working on decent terracing songs for Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo yet? HH
Neil Lennon was Bolton Manager for a while
Wonder if he knew Young Luca back then ?

Peraudd in the mix but other Clubs want him. Not sure I said Taylor was signing, if I did I apologise. We have though sounded out his availability. Killie wan £3 million for Taylor and O’Donnell, we are nearer £2 million for the pair.
Off to the Beer Cafe….
Until we meet again…

JF,
CMcG was declared not for sale yet KT is not, how in any stretch of the imagination are the ongoing negotiations that are being performed in the public domain not considered hawking.
Seeing what you want to see does not dismiss the evidence in plain view.
The player did not submit a transfer request, the Plc refuse to offer the same support they extended to CMcG. They are forcing KT to make a choice he did not want to make. They are in public negotiations with suitors. All the evidence that any rational man needs as evidence of the hawking.
Timbhoy2,
So why mention he would get more from the transfer fee because he did not request a transfer except if he was interested in the money which is the basic premise of the whole discussion, if he wanted more money he would not have signed a deal for five years and would have put in a transfer request.
Is it possible, assuming that KT does not have a release clause, that he has intimidated to the Board that he would like to be informed of any enquiries. Could also potentially be in his existing contract?
HH
Intimated, obviously. Freudian slip…!
Friesdorfer,
I expect the Plc need to advise him of all interest concerning his future at the club.
What exactly is/was KT’s hip injury problem, anyone know?
Gentlemen……….At the first misplaced pass, I give you

Would be delighted if we signed the 2 full backs from Killie, especially O’Donnell.
Best right back in Scotland last season
Canamalar…a lot of this ‘interest’ would be directed to his agent in any case, n’est pas?
I wish to register the strongest possible protest at the behaviour of our PLC for sanctioning this action.

You probably won’t read this in the SMSM,Celtic actually paid Bolton a lot more than they were obligated to, due to Bolton’s financial predicament.
Just think of the psychological and reputational damage this will cause to those on here who build their case that its all about the shareholders.
JC2. 1.05pm
Luca in his interview said he didn’t come across Neil in his time at Bolton, the first team trained elsewhere.
WBC,
I expect so but agents have more than their clients interests to consider.
There is also the idea that the Plc can solicit offers without permission from the player and agent which is what is currently happening, telling the world that every player has their price while in the same breath saying we are not accepting offers for CMcG stinks.
Jeez a slow day on the old blog today. H H Hebcelt

Thanks for that.
Outside the confines of this place, the attitudes of some towards the club they claim to support would be considered evidence of emotional imbalance & internal dissonance. Counselling would be recommended.
