Shakhter Karagandy manager, Viktor Kumykov, spoke to the media yesterday, and again this morning, ahead of tomorrow’s Champions League play-off first leg game against Celtic.
“Some of the players who played on Friday night will not make the starting line-up against Celtic but we have a limited squad so I cannot rotate too much.
“Celtic have a high calibre across their squad of around 20 players, they can rotate players without dropping standards. Whoever we face will be difficult.
“Their most dangerous players are the striker Samaras and wingers Forrest and Commons.
“We will attack but we will keep things tight at the back. The most important thing about a home game is not to concede. Celtic are a quality team but we are going to stand up to them with our best game. We have our plans.
“I said a few times that it’s going to be tough game for us. We are new in the Champions League, Celtic have lots of experience in games in Europe, they even won this tournament. But this does not mean that we are going to be taking a beating. We will do our best, will give our full strength to achieve a good result.
“We watched Celtic in last season’s Champions League, and against Liverpool. They are stronger than us but football is a game where the strongest don’t always win. They play a physical game, it will be hard playing against them.
“Unfortunately Toktar Schangyalyschbai and Mikhail Lunin will both miss the game through injury.
“We would like a full stadium, the crowd is going to be an important factor for us.
“We have achieved our main target, Europa League qualification, so the pressure is off us. We can take a risk in our play.”
Captain, Andrey Finonchenko, added, “Our dreams started with the games against BATE, few imagined we could beat them. The results against BATE and Skernderbeu have given us faith. We will do our best tomorrow.”
Stories of the ritualistic slaughter of a ram inside the Astana Arena this morning are true. No medieval stone unturned.

So, looks like the Samaras and Brown haters have found themselves a new target, a young bhoy who has only just turned twenty two. Did not see his debut but saw one of his early games at Parkhead against Hearts, terrific performance. David Templeton played that day too, played well too. He is playing in division 3 now, Jamesie played at Wembley on Wednesday, and for those with a more discerning eye, (ie me) had a good game against a player Everton just refused £12 million for. James only played half a dozen games last season, but has played around a hundred games or so with I think about twenty goals. Not great, but not bad for a winger. If he stays fit, and he looks a bit stronger this season he will get double figures for us no doubt about it. Gives us some good options on the pitch, and along with Derk, Sammi, Kris and hopefully Tony will cause a lot of problems for a lot of teams. And not only that, he is an Ayrshire Bhoy. Enough said.

Without of course!!
Doh!!
SP-Agree,Sammi scored with a front post run ,to meet Commons’first time cross. That apart, not too many i can remember post Larsson. The goal he scored in SC Semi v DU a few years ago was out of this world.HH
Prayers said for wee Karina too!
Just noticed that this article’s title looks very different if you remove the comma ….

SP-Sorry,Sammi’s goal was v Helsinki at CP last season..
To me James has lossed his confidence and has has run ap against a brick wall, seen it happen before with some players, I like him he is a game changer, but maybe needs a rest and maybe Lenny should stop talking about how wonderfull a player he is and let him get on with it, he is getting baby sat a wee bit I think, wouldn’t do him any harm to ride the pine for a couple of games.
STARRY PLOUGH FORZA OSCAR
Our lack of creativity during open play has been a concern for some time now.
Especially from midfield, which seems to be based around stopping the opposition.
Having said that,I complained for ages about the lack of midfield protection for the defence.
Heyho,not easy,this management lark!

I will settle for the protection tomorrow mate.

Now is the time to admit that you initially read it that way too :0)
I know I did.
Starry Plough,
That is why I have great hopes of Paul George. He can play the ball like you are crying out for. Long, long time since we have had someone who can do that regularly. I also think our wide men should get to the byeline and cross from there. Very difficult to defend against. I am, by the bye, in the James Forrest camp.

Don’t you love the predictive text/small keys on modern cellphones.
We have only played a handful of games this season.
Do you not think its a bit early to be writing players off or projecting theories onto them.
3-1 to the Hoops the morra
thomthethim for Oscar OK
Thats good news that RTE have the 2nd leg. The only thing that gets me about them is when they have Richie Saddler on.He does my head in, and not only because he was brought up a Rangers supporter in Dublin. HIs analysis is terrible!

Jamesie started his century match early this season, might have been against Cliftonville, not sure. His parents also let him play night games now, and Cup games, and er European Matches. They count too. Keep up the good work!
IT’S A BOY…..I SHOUTED, IT’S A BOY I DON’T BELEIVE IT…….I ran with tears streaming down my face, and swore I would never go nere another Tai Brothel again!
I have high hopes of Rogic and Irvine too, they both look like players who can drive forward and cause defences to panic, nothing a defender hates more than seeing a midfielder drive toward him while he is trying to mark a forward, then he has to decide, should I stay or should I go…
We don’t terrorise teams enough, bring on the terror, with Derk and a new striker and some yoof coming through I hope we can build on last year’s success, really looking forward to tomorrow’s game.
James Forrest Celtic and Scotland winger, he’ll do for me..

I like wee James as a player. Sometimes I feel he gets knocked off the ball too easily though. I’d agree he needs to bulk up a wee bit. He can be a game changer for us and offers something different.

Elderly couple at mass the old lady leans forward to her hubby and sais “I have just let off a silent fart what should I do” the hubby sais as soon as we get home put a new battery in yer hearing aid.
I am a James Forrest fan. My only complaint is the way he stands gesticulating when he loses the ball or feels he has been fouled instead of playing to the whistle. I would rather he chased down the guy who took the ball of him and tried to get it back.

Neil Lennon tells anyone who will listen ,that in his opinion James Forrest is the best prospect in the first team.
He told m that personally on the Friday night before the Scottish cup final.
He thinks he will be better than Wanyama,Hooper,Forster,Matthews,Lustig.
Neil Lennon is one of my all-time favourite Celtic players.
I greatly admire his stance in adversity.
I have to question his view on James ( ye pulled ma shirt) Forrest.

Sign a player with a funny name. I’d start with Ufarte. Even after a severe hiding at Celtic Park you’d still go home with a smile on yer face.
A typical post match debate in the pub would go like this…..
“Right 3sy, who was your man of the match?”
“Ufarte”
“Sorry, can’t agree. He wiz rotten”
Boo boom
