I was keen to see a full strength team take on Falkirk, but the sharpness on display on Friday evening was undeniable. Falkirk will present stiffer challenges in the season ahead but were hit early in the game with a tide of Celtic attacks. Their keeper (one to keep an eye on) kept the score level for a while but the goals were always coming.
Kairat managed to blow a two goal lead on Saturday at home in the Kazakh league to Yelimay Semey. Our Champions League qualification opponents lost 2-3 in front of 9,000 fans. It will be a different game on Wednesday but defeats affect energy levels.
Having spent two years withering on the periphery of Celtic without making a competitive appearance for the club, Kwon Hyeok-kyu joined Nantes three weeks ago and went straight into their opening league game of the season against PSG.
Nantes lost 0-1 to a deflected shot but the 6’3” defensive midfielder won the sponsor’s Man of the Match award. Let’s hope the 24-year-old gets an opportunity to develop his talents in France. There is more to the player than his Celtic traumas indicate.

Morning Monday. You arrived so soon!
Monday Monday,garden to dae
Monday , Monday , don’t trust that day ……

Dunno about you three, but I’ve got Friday on my mind
TBB
I can’t think of anything past Wednesday .
Should really be getting my skates on and heading to office soon.
Off to Chicago for Oasis a week on Friday. I do enjoy a Chicago trip. A fine city.
Kwon was loaned out twice. He got half a season at St Mirren and a whole season at Hibs.
The pitches at neither stadium were at risk of being set on fire.
It’s a measure of the standard of midfield player at Celtic that a fellow who couldn’t get a game here is good enough to compete against PSG. That’s a good thing.
We often forget that however many players in the squad, only 11 get to start a match.
I wish him well.

Roll on Wednesday.
I assume Almaty had that ‘after the Lord Mayor’s show’ feeling at the weekend.
Could also be that they’ve climbed three increasingly larger hills so far.
Hopefully we are the hill they die on (metaphorically of course).
Kwon? Yawn.
I too think there is something approaching a player there Paul.
But some you win, some you lose.
Unless the theme you’ve repeated a few times now (trust the model / he’s a player) is underpinned TANGIBLY with us inserting a tasty sell-on clause?
… time to wish the young man the very best … and forget about him.
This obsession with Kwon (as a stick to batter Rodgers) was funny at first..Now it’s just sad..Why not just say what you mean..
Peter should buy the players and pick the team
I read on here Tomoki Iwata was ‘ripping it up ‘ at Birmingham
Deja Vu,
It can’t be this difficult to sign players- who emptied the data base?
We could afford three £5M players with the Nicolas Kuhn money alone, we could have spent the sell option on we received for a player sold years ago and gotten a winger. Supporters can make up their own prices, ( the cash pile is the elephant in the room ) and scenario’s, but the ‘Celtic board’ policymakers, and influencers whoever they are, maybe miles ahead. The J and K League players that are so far away from the Celtic first team, are at the same distance had they stayed in their homeland, the £40M gamble to get past an ‘easy qualifier’ starts on Wednesday, but the gamble on having an elite coach at Celtic is well underway.
That’s whether you like or dislike BR, it’s the position that is always under threat, handing the head coach the cheap options, sees a daisy chain of Celtic ‘developments’ and ‘punts ‘ scattered around the globe it’s a flawed strategy, for any ambitious football club, never mind the size of Celtic.
Best case scenario remains the late mad spend, whether it happens or not change at Celtic, is needed . Selling as “ tough negotiators “ since Moussa Dembele, buying like green shoppers in the price slashed zone to feed the Celtic supporting mushrooms, and chase away whatever manager you appoint. If BR pulls it off again this season, the divide will be fully stretched.
Spare us another Kieran Tierney upgrade article for a couple of weeks at least.
Of his time at Celtic……
think it was more a case of no Kwon do…
No?
Bring back Jonny Hayes
Jonny Hayes contributed much more in a Celtic jersey than Kwon
Actu
Actually Willo Flood contributed much more in a Celtic jersey than The Late Lamented Kwon
What happened to the Kwon money…….
Good afternoon all from the Queens Park Cafe. What’s going Kwon?🤔
I know, I’ll get ma jaiket.
Players are only as good as their last game . Anyone fretting over missing a trick in letting Kwon go should judge him over a season at Nantes .
Better still , forget pointless exercises .
Who the eff sold Kwon for £250k !?
Must be some turnover in the amount of players that just didn’t measure up to the run, run, run, run….run faster, run faster, etc, tippy tappy, tappy tippy, demands of a Celtic player who’s club have not had a serious challenger since 2012, when Celtic said “NOTHING TO DO WITH US GUV” when it was actually Celtic supporters who innocently paid their season ticked money into a rigged game and were the main cheated victims!
Yet it was not Celtic’s business?!
The Jungle era fans would have raced across the pitch to the directors box and dragged the PLC out of it by their twirly moustaches!
That is why there is no Jungle area any longer.
Nothing to do with safety.
All seating is about subduing and controlling.
Thatcher wanted all seating, all ticket, all season ticket, soon to be all digital id ticket, and you club to be run by a PLC which are remotely controlled by the Lobby.
Who do you think controls the London Stock Exchange?
The Lobby controlled, London Financial System which, James Connolly warned about, over 100 years ago.
Only George Galloway and his WPB & ALBA Partyand others will make Scotland Lobby free, and the rest will follow.

They had 0 (zero) shots on target and completed passes were like hens teeth.
It’s a case of apples and oranges in terms of what is demanded of a Celtic midfielder week in week.
But best of luck to him. I’m sure P67 will keep us updated, he neglected to mention him when he was in the stands at Easter Road…
Never mind. Just think of the massive sell-on we’ll get when Real Madrid buy him for £100m in a couple of years…..
Although the Kwontaty Surveyors might rate him highly its a No Kwon do from Brendan
The Kwon money will be banked with the rest of it,and another £1.5 million gate money on Wednesday
We’ve not had a jersey or training top released for a couple of weeks….

Kwon was such a good player, Hibs & St Mirren declined to pay the £250k fee we sold him for.
Its almost like both of the above clubs recruitment is as bad as Celtic’s, missing out on such a top class CDM.
I wonder how Brugge quick news is coping.
This year to date
6 players in for £18m
4 players out for £58m
Plus another touted to go to Brighton for £15m
After a player trading profit of £20m last year.
And last 16 in CL.
Maybe Peter and Mark Lawwell are up to their nasty tricks there too.
Another dig at our manager.
I see Maik Nawrocki has so far failed to trap in Bundesliga 2
AT and BRRB I will be in Glasgow on Wednesday for the match so look forward to meeting you and any other members of the Ship wreck crew.

Tomoki Iwata
Ranked either best or 2nd best player in the 2 Birmingham games so far in championship this season.
Played 46 games last season.
Already Birmingham are in a play off spot after 2 games and we’re just 5 mins away from 100% record.
Tomoki himself highlighted BR did not really get the best from him at Celtic but accepted Cal was a perfect player in his position.
Anyway you obviously know better. Clearly it doesn’t concern you that a J league poty winner and now becoming a proven success at Birmingham somehow wasn’t given a chance at Celtic in a positon we clearly now lack cover.
Or maybe it’s just Peter Lawwell roaming rent free in your head again eh.
