Short-term fix for staple Euro strategy

985

There’s always a bit of reticence signing a player who has been away from his previous club for four months. Carlton Cole hasn’t played since starting West Ham’s final games of last season, and presumably has only trained in isolation since then.

Expectations of a quick return, should Celtic offer him a contract, have to be tempered with the realisation that he’ll be at least a month away from full fitness, but by then we will be set to face Molde away.

One aspect of our play that will concern Ronny Deila is that we’re short of attacking variation. The high ball forward to Samaras, so long our staple on the road in Europe, is not an option. This will be the reason why Carlton is training at Lennoxtown this week.

I’d expect a short-term deal to be concluded between now and January, to give both sides a chance to check out the fit.

    2 things –

    1. The most pleasing thing for me is, barring a miracle, there’s now only 1 remaining unfortunate chance that we will have to share a park with them this season.

    -Couldn’t agree more

hope we never have to play “thems” ever

  2. Does the BBC commentary team know their history? Did I hear them say St Johnstone have played this team 20 times in the last 15 years? Unless 20 of them have been in the last 3 years, how can that be?

Overrated and lazy. what was he doing for the other 2 minutes?

  9. Game being played at 100 miles per hour, St. Johnstone need to get hold pf the ball and take a bit of heat out of it.

  10. My mum’s from Methven and my great aunt North Muirton, so I’ve always had a wee soft spot for St Johnston.

    Sorry bhoys

Couldn’t resist turning it on for a look when I heard it was 3-0.

    The inevitable happened.

Should be ok as I turned it off right away.

    3-1 will do.
