SHOULDER OP FOR TIERNEY

CELTIC defender Kieran Tierney has had surgery on his troublesome shoulder problem, but won’t resume training until the New Year

The Scotland international left-back had been playing through the pain barrier before sustaining the ankle injury in training that left him sidelined until January.

Parkhead medical staff decided to get Tierney’s shoulder seen to after he was ruled out with his additional problem.

The 19-year-old has been forced onto the sidelines which has opened the way for a return to first team action for Emilio Izaguirre.

Tierney was in the Hampden stand to watch the club win their 100th trophy with their 3-0 success over Aberdeen in the Betfred League Cup Final on Sunday.
Boss Brendan Rodgers has said he will not rush back the teenager, but there is a chance of the player being in place by the time the Scottish Cup kicks off with a tie against Albion Rovers in January.
