Shrinking the squad, and an update

454

I’d hopes Dedryck Boyata would bask in the reflective glory of being part of a fancied Belgium squad at the forthcoming Euros. It would enhance is reputation and perceived value, but alas, his injury has ruled him out, and will likely mean he’ll miss Champions League qualifiers, so he’s on the payroll and in the stand for at least a portion of next season.

News that Colin Kazim-Richards will travel to Brazil to discuss a move there will help Brendan Rodger’s attempts to bring the squad size down to a more reasonable level, as Carlton Cole’s pay-as-you-play arrangement will formally become a don’t-pay-as-you’re-not-playing further clears the decks. This leaves only, Leigh Griffiths and returning strikers Anthony Stokes and Stefan Scepovic, who will, at most, be a bit-part players.

Getting it right with the next striker to sign is important after so many misfires.

We’re finally seeing some movement on Res 12 issues. The advert will first appear in the principle business newspaper in Nyon, where Uefa have their headquarters. Will update you as and when. We’re going to run the UK ad after the Swiss story, so nothing here tomorrow.

Oh, and there was no legal action or threats thereof last night. We had a tactical rethink and pulled a related article, nothing more.

Nothing in the advertisement that indicates a change of stance from the Plc ?

Good Morning Bhoys from a hot and sunny Central Scotland. Fletcher I will be glad when he retires and we stop getting these rumours. H.H.

  3. Paul has images of the Resolution 12 Statement in the Tribune de Geneve and will post these at lunchtime.

We will update you on the plans re The Guardian later today.

I’m away to deliver books to various, locations for Father’s day promotions.

Charlie Gallagher book plus free copy of Winds of Change is available to CQNers at cqnbookstore.com

Just order the Charlie G book and we will do the rest.

  4. John Park dusts off his trusty scouting book and says to Brendan, whit about thon Stephen Fletcher we’ve been chasing him since 2008..

Brendan smiles and says John yer fired:)))

  5. Awe Naw,

Maybe you could ‘Awe Naw’ it.

My memory might be faulty, however I don’t remember anything to say that Celtic would be making a comment. In any case, I don’t think you’re surprised, as after all an important piece of business was concluded yesterday.

  6. Hope the rumours of fletcher and Danny graham are load of ballix

Fans who bought season books put a lot of faith that better standards on and off the pitch would be happening.

    Hopefully it does.

Young o’dowda that came on for Ireland last night looks very promising..quick with a neat pass on him.

    Re: Mulgrew in Newsgroup “newspapers”.

Does anyone really think he’s going to come out after six months and say anything else?

“Oh aye, ah spat the dummy oot and thought ahd try and turn the mugs against Deila.”

    Really?

I would’ve thought he might have been more interested in the result of the game he’d just walked out of rather than checking his Instagram pictures but, there you go, he’s one of our own and he knows the Rebs so that’s ok then.

An imposter who now wants a new deal under a new manager but had RD won the SC would have walked.

  9. The Herald Group’s love-in with the Level 5 spin doctors is farcical. Difficult on some Rangers stories to tell editorial from advertorial.

Anyone sent the advert to David Conn or any proper journalists down south? A bhoy got in touch with him last month and he was interested?

Short n sweet n to the point.

    Proudbhoy,

From what I saw of O’Dowda last night was quite impressive, considering the lack of quality around him.

He looks very similar in build and style to Ryan Christie, who I think will be a star with us.

Ireland were atrocious in the first half, but improved after the interval.

Mc.Geady came alive and began to influence the game and the arrival of the aforementioned boy, plus Houlihan and Long led to a marked improvement.

    PS.

I think I read somewhere that O’Dowda is the grandson of the well known (to older Irish fans) opera singer, Brendan O’Dowda.

Taking out adverts in Swiss newspapers about a Scottish football club you hate is batshit mentalism of the highest degree.

Interesting comments from VVD about John Collins in today’s Daily Mail.

So much for not being able to man manage. Perhaps the problems came from the boozers and monster munch eaters who were too lazy to progress their game. Unlike VVD.

  17. An answer from the BBC on my e mail to them about the bile and toxic Sevco song sheet in the Hibs final, more or less a feck off Timmy. IMO.

Thanks for recently contacting the BBC. We aim to reply to complaints within 10 working days (around 2 weeks) and do so for most of them but cannot for all. The time taken depends on the nature of your complaint, how many others we are dealing with and can also be affected by practical issues such as whether a production team is available or away on location.

This is to let you know that we have referred your complaint to the relevant staff but that it may take longer than 10 working days to reply. We therefore ask you not to contact us further in the meantime. If it does prove necessary however, please use our webform, quoting any reference number we provided. This is an automatic email sent from an account which is not monitored so you cannot reply to this email address.

In order to use the licence fee efficiently we may not investigate every issue if it does not suggest a substantive breach of guidelines, or may send the same reply to everyone if others have complained about the same issue. You can read full details of our complaints procedures and how we consider the issues raised in feedback at http://www.bbc.co.uk/complaints/handle-complaint/. In the meantime we’d like to thank you for contacting us with your concerns. We appreciate your patience in awaiting a response.

Does the Celtic view publish close season ?

Would taking the ad to the Celtic View and not the view increase awareness across our own fan base and contribute to the clubs finances be worthwhile ?

Should we have taken ads out in other clubs fanzines to raise awareness in Scotland, hindsight eh bugger.

The Plc have had this facility to publish and enlighten many more supporters yet they have remained silent, then comment at Q&A session that no one knows about it and that’s why they don’t think its important.

  23. This is a reply I received from the BBC ref sevco winning their 33 rd SC.

Many thanks for getting in touch and apologies for the delay in replying.

I was sorry to learn you felt that during a report by Mike Bushell on ‘Breakfast’ 21st May, he incorrectly stated that Sevco Rangers had won the Scottish Cup thirty three times.

The company that owned Rangers went into liquidation, but the club and assets were bought out of administration before the company was liquidated, therefore this report is factually correct.

We were referring to the football team here and not the company that formerly owned it. We frequently refer to the liquidation of the company that owned Rangers when reporting on business and financial matters.

We’ll continue to refer to Rangers FC as the same team; where we will make a distinction is between the old company and the company which currently runs the club. This is in line with the BBC Trust findings on the matter, details of which are available here:

    http://downloads.bbc.co.uk/bbctrust/assets/files/pdf/appeals/esc_bulletins/2013/apr_may.pdf

We of course welcome your feedback and I’ve already made sure your comments have gone to the right people here at the BBC, including the sports team and senior management.

Thank you again for sharing your concerns.

    Yours sincerely,
