Shuffling for spare seats in Lisbon Lions, Mikael’s woes

398

I’m loving the positivity which surrounds season ticket sales at the moment. You can imagine staff at the Ticket Office bouncing into work these days to deal with another new scenario. Today’s news is that a deadline of this Friday has been made for existing season ticket holders to relocate to the newly opened Upper Lisbon Lions section, before the remaining seasons are made available.

There’s now a high probability that Celtic and Hearts will both have waiting lists for season tickets, with Aberdeen not far behind. Even Hibs are felling their own Irish manager effect, as they target 10,000 ticket sales.

Pretty gutted Mikael Lustig retired at half time in Sweden’s game against Ireland yesterday because of a groin injury. Injury has been the story of Mikael’s life over the last couple of years, which will cast a shadow over the rest of his career. Sweden can continue to select him, when fit, but Celtic will need to cater for the reality that he may miss a lot of football going forward.

It’s also unlikely that he’ll attract a transfer (or sail through a medical). With the right levels of rest and preparatory work, he should be able to compete at the top level for another three years at least, but for much of that time Mikael is destined to be a bit part player.

  4. Football fans can be great or can be sick when it comes to crowd reactions. We can never be complacent and always think we are “better than them, but In my experience both Irish & Celtic fans mirror each other’s behaviour, not too surprising I suppose because for the most part they are from the same gene pool and the same culture.

On Joey Barton – no doubt he will be their best player next season by a long way

Also no doubt his agent offered him to Celtic first

But with Brendan in charge the answer was a clear Foxtrot Oscar

Not good enough and as importantly not class enough as a man or player

    Great decision Brendan

Do you know why Ian Bankier is in his position?

Do you know what he does or brings to the club/PLC?

The Celtic Trust, the Affiliation of Registered Celtic Supporters’ Clubs and The Green Brigade accused him of “an unforgivable slur on Celtic’s support”.

He had suggested that some social media attacks on fellow board member Lord Livingston were “criminally racist”.

An online petition called for his removal from the Celtic board, saying his actions were against the club’s ethos, attracted nearly 10,000 signatures at the time.

I saw some comments about people with new laptops who were saying that they were having problems with CQN. I was having terrible difficulty with CQN not loading/reloading . The problem for me was Google Chrome Flash Shockwave clashing with Adobe Flash

I made the following change and, so far, it has worked without a crash:

Type about:plugins into the Chrome browser

Take option : Adobe Flash Player and tick the box “Always allow to run”

    Reboot and try again.

Hope this helps anyone who has the same problem.

  17. Celtic gone dotty. Have put 3 more rows in section 416 on the market. Only good news they can’t go much further back. Looks like there are still about 10 or 20 tickets being bought on a daily basis.

  22. Hrvatski Jim on

Based on 52,000 season tickets (if reached) , we would have to offer 104,000 free tickets over the season.

Exclude 2 games against our very dear Glasgow neighbours from Govan and that leaves 17 home games.

Apart from Aberdeen and Hearts, most way support is < 1,000

    8,000 seats available – 1,000 for away support = 7,000 seats available * 17 games = 119,000 spaces available.

Very tight but offering tickets to a limited number of people per game would just about work even on full take up.

Nye Bevans’ rebel soldier – Game isn’t on the books as it’s a comp not run by Celtic, £20 / ticket…

  24. I’m unsure the ticket office staff will be bounding into work enthused to deal with disgruntled season ticket holders whose zebra finance applications have been knocked back and now they have 24 hours to stump up the cash or lose their season books.

Canny exactly see it being a barrel of laughs.

  25. Was wondering

Last week and the week before the blog was awash with enthusiasm and hope re res 12.

Lots of posts of hope and expectation about activity in the week following the swiss ad and the promised celtic statement. Heavy hints of just wait and see from WC and JF.

Then we had THE Guardian debacle which filled a couple days and filled the blog with posts. Then the 48 hours to a club statement.

    Then nought

Has this thing died a death

Is anything being investigated by UEFA.

Have celtic followed up by writing to UEFA

Will they ever comment publicly as promised.

Has the surge in season sales dampened their enthusiasm for res 12.

I find the silence very dissapointing

    Just wondering
