You have to love the weeks of anticipation ahead of the new season, when teams can consider that just about anything is possible. Nowhere is this truer than at Newco, where the pages of newspapers proclaim the signing of some or other no-mark you have never heard of.
From a purely football aspect, the imminent challenge for boss Caixinha, to qualify for the Europa League group stage, is fascinating. Do not for a second believe he has been asked to lay a glove on Celtic, pragmatism determines this is clearly not possible.
After a season of domestic invincibility, there are a few in our ranks who believe our own imminent challenge, to qualify for the group stages of the Champions League, will be a formality. I doubt it will be. We will certainly be better prepared than we have been for many years, but you can expect to see tense times in Scandinavia, Easter Europe, or perhaps Central Asia.
Celtic teams with Larsson, Sutton, Hartson, Thompson, Lambert and Lennon failed this task. Peter Lawwell has money to spend right now, but he cannot count on a huge dividend from Uefa until it is guaranteed.
The Road To Lisbon
The Road To Lisbon team announced this morning that they achieved their target of raising £50k for Celtic FC Foundation, Solving Kids Cancer and Children in Crossfire. It is a breath-taking achievement by CQNers and others. When Mouldy67 looks back on his life’s achievements, this chapter will put the biggest spring in his step.
Well done to all on a fantastic achievement. Here’s a message from Mouldy (who you can still support here):
We r delighted to announce that we have now reached (& surpassed) a magical….

Ron, the prices quoted for the cave houses are very interesting but I may prefer to rent. In that case I would budget 15- 20,000 pounds a year for all expenses . Does that sound right?
I currently live in Australia.

Not guilty mate – the guy is a hero! :-)))

It is all a matter of personal taste, of course but I have been visiting San Pedro de Alcantara ( 10 k West of Marbella) for about fifteen years and still find it a most enjoyable place.

Hot smoked
I holidayed in San Pedro for about 12 years when my girls were younger
Lovely spot

Hero or not, Not Guilty verdict would present Establishment with one of Lord Denning’s ‘Appalling Vistas’.
Trial by twitter?
We find the defendant incredibly innocent csc
Very handy for Celtic Park
Ex Newcastle player Check Tiote collapses and dies during training session with a Chinese team, only 30 years old
Shocking news about Check Tiote

Could certainly recommend Murcia. Anywhere around the Mar Menor, weather excellent, pretty much all year. Look at Los Alcazres, Los Nietos ( quiet). But both worth looking at. Hope you find what you are looking for.
HH
Breeny, just saw you mentioned vibe so would leave Los Nietos but maybe add Cabo de Palos. The Murcia weather is what does it for me, currently 28′ with a nice sea breeze

Would anyone be surprised that these charges were trumped-up and the whole thing was a waste of taxpayers money? I’m not…
Celtic set to face usual suspects in the 3rd round CL qualifiers versus ……………..Malmö FF or FK Astana
or FC Salzburg or Partizan Belgrade or Rosenborg or BK BATE or Legia Warsaw or Hapoel Beer-Sheva or NK Maribor.
I doubt we will get satisfaction from the CW hearing.
I anticipate a watery verdict with CW portrayed as the dodgy but non-malicious character (a cheeky chappie?) trying to out-fox an over-worked knight of the realm who had temporarily taken his eye off the ball.
All part of the “panem et circenses” that we have been spoon-fed for 5 years or more.
Slaps on the wrist all round and … “don’t do that again, you naughty boys !!!”.
Been in the big city, Granada all day, back to tranquility, noticed that a poster was inquiring about cheap places to retire.
Breeny
It’s as cheap as where I am, a turn key cave house can cost as little as 30-50K euros, can cost 100s as well, the cost of living is so much cheaper that britland, best thing for you to do is mail me if you are interested, I have made all the mistakes and will keep you right, things like health are important, it’s superb btw but a minefield if you don’t know what you are doing.

In some ways the judgement on CW is irrelevant for football.
What is relevant is the testimony that confirms what was already known but not publicly that a liability existed at 31st March. This liability was described in RFC Interim accounts as potential with ongoing discussions to reach a resolution. Neither was true.
Under UEFA FFP that makes the liability an overdue payable as it relates to tax owed from 2001 at 31st Dec 2010 unless by 31st March
1. Liability was paid.
2. HMRC had agreed in writing to postpone payment . Note HMRC are the signatories as creditors.
3. An appeal has been made.
4. The liability is based on an unfounded/frivolous demand. (I paraphrase Annex VIII para 2)
HMRC and RFC discussed when the liability was accepted on 21st March holding collection under after the CW Takeover.
If there is a record of this agreement dated 31st March or earlier signed by HMRC then there is no overdue payable.
SFA claim to have an unpublished document signed by HMRC that fits the requirement.
This claim first emerged last June as a result of an Article by David Conn in The Guardian (the paper that pulled out of the CQN advert Persistence Beats Res12stance) but Conn did not see the letter. Another investigator from the Sporting Integrity Initiate requested sight of the document but it never arrived as promised.
Of course had it existed it should have been shown to Celtic in December 2011 when, prompted by fan speculation after Sherriff Officers turned up to collect overdue tax in August 2011, Celtic asked for an explanation.
It was never mentioned from 2013 to June 2016 in any correspondence from the SFA in response to questions put by Res12 lawyers or indeed Celtic in 2013/14.
So the only conclusion that can be drawn from court testimony is that an overdue payable as UEFA define it existed.
In court DF pointed out that the loss of CL money to Malmo was fatal to Rangers and given their absolute dependency on it for survival then the motivation of Rangers and the SFA to get that licence by hook or by crook is crystal clear.
That Rangers misrepresented the position to the SFA to obtain the licence is evident, what is not evident yet is the role both CW and the SFA played in making sure it was kept after CW took over on 6th May and before UEFA notified of clubs granted a licence on 26th May.
However with the trial about to end and with it any risk of prejudicing the case against CW there is no reason why what took place from 5th May 2011 cannot be made public to establish if and how far the SFA were complicit. Rangerstaxcase tweeted on SFA complicity the other day.
The fat lady has not even cleared her throat yet.
blog a bit quiet at the moment can i run through a story about 1969 i was a member of the muirhead celtic supporters club anyone heard of it if my memory is right we went to parkhead via moodiesburn muirhead stepps and when we got to millerston i think imay be wrong we done a left towards celtic park and there was some tenements on the right hand side as we were passing this guy i presume to be the opposite persausion to me il never forget it afull bottle of barrs lemonade at the bus thankfully as we all lifted ourselves from the floor no one was hurt so if yore still around bluenose girfuy.

The missus and I will be down on Saturday.
Heading to Atomic, the rare craft beer Mecca in downtown first. It’s the oldest freestanding bar in Las Vegas where the celebrities watched the atom bombs going off. Well worth a venture out of the resort, to sample what’s on offer. Not too far from the Westgate if you wanted a swally, but if you want to stay at the resort, we’ll meet you back there after lunch.

Best case scenario is the sfa are held accountable, worst is they arny.
What is your gut feeling ?
I would like to think that someone out there has a modecum of integrity about them to see that justice prevails, but it’s scotland.

Big Packy,
re Lorne sausage,
my mate owns a number of butchers shops ,
he was asked by a local cash and carry to provide 4 packs of
square sausage price marked £1,they wanted to pay him 60p per pack,
can you imagine how little meat is in these sausages, other than mechanically removed meat,
he told them to chase themselves
