Simunovic, the stats don’t lie

333

It was good to see Jozo Simunovic return to the starting line-up on Sunday. He is every inch the player we hoped he would be when he joined from Dimano Zagreb two years ago, but that was in doubt as recently as August last year, when Celtic allowed the player to travel to Italy to secure his exit from the club.

That month he and, then injured, Dedryck Boyata were well out of the picture as Celtic played their most important games of the season. Against Hapoel Be’re Shiva in the Champions League play-off round, we played Toure and O’Connell in central defence at home, with Toure and Lustig in the middle for the crucial game in Israel.

The earlier round against Astana saw O’Connell pair with Lustig in one game and Ambrose in the other. When you consider Saidy Janko started two of those four games, you appreciate how far we’ve come defensively in six months. Would you bet on Celtic to qualify for the Champions League with a defence drawn from that pool? I wouldn’t.

Dundee’s spectacular goal on Sunday (through no fault of Jozo’s) was only the second goal we’ve conceded with the Croat on the field since Dundee last scored against us. The defender aided Celtic to six clean sheets in seven games in that time.

We’ve now conceded once in each of our last three games, if Jozo remains fit, he’ll tidy up that statistic.

    Gearoid, thanks for your reply.

We are well thanks . I hope things are good with your good self and family.

It’s amazing how someone you would expect to be the polar opposite of you , turns out to have similar ideals for the working man.

Gerry Adams had a lot of respect for Ervine as a political figure and showed that by attending his funeral.

From what I have read, Arlene Foster has a lot to learn from the likes of Gerry Adams, David Ervine and Mairtin McGuinness.

I’ll hopefully get to read the book you recommended .

    Escaped Goat Update

    March 2017

Gary MacKay-Stevens, returned to the team for a few cameo appearances, and immediately proved a strong candidate for the sought after title of Escaped Goat. A series of largely ineffective performances had many posters favouring Gary.

Eric Sviatchenko’s form has dipped recently, and despite being a star turn against the tide of mediocrity that was Ronny Deila’s Celtic, his loss of form did not pass unnoticed, with the Bhoo-Bhoys of CQN. A poor showing in the recent Glasgow Derby, had many tipping Eric for the Escaped Goat crown. He is definitely a strong contender.

The goals have dried up for the young Frenchman Moussa Dembélé, and he has become an unexpected front runner in the “Escaped Goat Derby” for March. It seems inconceivable that the star performer of this season to date, could actually be considered for Escaped Goat, but history means little to the watchful eyes of the CQN Judges.

The front runner remains Mikel Lustig. His fragile body lends itself, to pulling out of key challenges, which coupled with his lack of pace, and tendency to allow his concentration to wander, sees Lustig in pole position for the March 2017 Escaped Goat Title.

The final resulted will be posted at the end of the month, and then a whole new competition begins for April.

Soukous, Tyldsley is insufferable. Various people in England I have got to know through the years feel the same.

Gearoid, from the little I know of politics in the six counties, I would agree that the ‘Ulster Scots’ unionist parties seem to want a return to their old ways of we are never wrong and we are the victims in the same way their cousins over here at Ibrox behave.

Good night all and sleep well.

So are the deid deid yet?

Or have our illustrious judiciary adjourned for the next cycle of power corruption and lies?

How are you? Hope your good

I came in yest morning and heard the news of martin mcguinness.I cleaned up and listened to radio ulster.nolan was on and was focussed solely imo on pre cease fire.nolan was incessant? Focus on the terrorists past.

Sinm Fein actually pulled out of his show minutes before gping onto comment, tebbitt and yer out and out nutters from TUV getting prominence

No insight into the gerrymandered inbuilt state bias that was brutally forced on them.

Now Nolan should havr left prog open to callers instead he steered debate

Interestingly listening to 5 live later callers berated him for steering.

    Interesting day it was listening
