SINCLAIR AIMS FOR EURO GLORY

NEW Bhoy Scott Sinclair believes his hour has finally arrived in the Champions League.

The impressive attacker, who scored again yesterday in the 4-2 triumph over St Johnstone in Perth, has only previously  performed for 57 minutes in club football’s elite competition.

That was in 2012 when he was at Manchester City and he was removed from the action when Borussia Dortmund took a 1-0 lead. Manager Roberto Mancini never played the winger again in the tournament as City headed for oblivion.

After his three-and-a-half year absence from performing on Europe’s most prestigious platform, Sinclair was a key man for Celtic in their 5-2 first leg Champions League play-off win over Israel’s Hapoel Be’er Sheva at Parkhead on Wednesday.

Now the £4.5million buy from Aston Villa is looking forward to playing his part in the return tie on Tuesday.

He said: “The atmosphere in midweek was unbelievable. Everyone kept telling me about it, the noise created by the Celtic fans on a European night.

“But now I’m going through it for myself and realising just how good it is. I haven’t experienced anything like Wednesday night before. Not at all.

“When we walked out, the supporters made so much noise and they were singing for the whole game.

“It spurred us on and when we conceded the two goals, the supporters kept right behind us, cheering us on. That definitely helped the boys.

“Hopefully, now we can get through on Tuesday and experience more of these nights. We need to do it for the fans.

“My only Champions League game before was for Manchester City against Dortmund. I want to get back to that level 100 per cent and give it a proper shot. I want to do it for a team where I feel much more at home – and actually involved.

“I couldn’t ask for any more right now. I definitely feel more of a part of it at Celtic than I did at City.

“I’m really happy to be at this club and we need to make sure we progress on Tuesday to be part of that group stage.”
