SINCLAIR AIMS TO HIT THE GROUND RUNNING

SCOTTY SINCLAIR insists there will be no easing up as he hopes to build on last season’s award-winning form.

The flamboyant English attacker wasted no time in settling into Brendan Rodgers’ line-up with the winning goal against Hearts 24 hours after completing his £4.5million move from Aston Villa in August.

That effort, after coming off the substitutes’ bench, was the first of 25 strikes on his way to winning the PFA and SFWA Player of the Year honours as well as being a key member in the Hoops’ historic unbeaten treble-winning campaign.

Sinclair, though, was irked UEFA gave his goal in the first leg against Linfield in Belfast to defender Mark Haughey, although he blasted in two during the week.

He said: “That is what I am trying for on a personal level.

“I am trying to pick up where I left off and get up to speed with the goals and my performances. With each game I am getting better and better.

“It was a great performance against Linfield, the team did very well, the way we controlled the game and came away with the win. We couldn’t be happier.”

Olivier Ntcham made his competitive debut against the Irish outfit after his big-money switch from Manchester City while teenager Kundai Benyu, signed from Ipswich, came on as a late substitute.

Sinclair is convinced their arrival will enhance the treble-winners for the challenges that are ahead.

He added: “Everything is running smoothly.

“The main thing is that the new players come on board and they know exactly what they are doing when they come on.

“They have been here for a couple of weeks, so over time they will get better and better.”
