Sinclair: no one has worked harder

303

I know you have heard a lot about Scott Sinclair’s form not matching his Player of the Year level of last season, but with 8 goals in the league (joint top) and 15 overall (top in Scottish football), you would be hard pushed to suggest this is anything other than a right good season for the winger.

What you have heard less about is the reaction from the player to his slower start to the season. He stayed behind on a programme of work to improve his game; doing exercises designed to improve fleet-of-foot, and perhaps confidence.

Celtic players are not machines (they just look like that when they are winning). Performances are a consequence of hundreds of preparatory hours, sacrifice and denial. Even those will little to prove, like Scott, feel like they have everything to prove as they train for the next game. When they are struggling for the form they want, it is at the forefront of their minds when they wake in the morning, no matter how good results are.

The big moment in Scott’s season came three minutes from the end of what, for him, was a very hostile game at Fir Park, when he told Leigh Griffiths he would be hitting the penalty. Miss, the unbeaten record stops and you put yourself in the hole. Score, and you are the Pope of Fir Park.  Others would have stepped aside.

No one has worked harder to get to the top of the scoring charts.  He’s going to be a big player for the remainder of this month.

I can put the Divvers/Divers arguement to bed bhoys.

Apparently he frequented my grandfathers house when my mother was young and she had a big crush on him. She always refered to him as Divvers.

    Goooooood Morning CQN

Should we show Hibs any sympathy on being shafted by FtSFA and their referees ??? Reaping what mr Petrie, let’s move on, Sows, with Petrie actions ???

*Forget the name and colours but Hibs have NEVER been friends of us and that goes back to when they accused us of stealing James Kelly from them, the truth there is that they coveted him but he was happy playing for his local club and serving his time as a joiner.

Only when the persuasive tongue of John Glass (not to be confused with the demagogue pastor who was indeed an ass ass ass) and the promise of a licensed premises did he relent and sign for us, there was also the detail that his da David was a member of the local Land League which was also probably a factor.

They have held a grudge against us since then and let’s not also forget that it was their chairman along with “his name is big Geordie and he’s loyal and true and his durty big nose is the right shade of blue” who wanted the gift we received from Eamon De Valera removed fae atop the jungle.

In the early days pre1888 Hibs played in the hoops before reverting to an all green top. This remained their strip until swan took over and changed it to their present style with white sleeves; however, he wanted the green changed to red in an effort to emulate fellow breest barer herbert chapman, their name to Edinburgh City and eventually had the brick Harp removed from both the north and main entrances.

We love tae sing about “most of the football greats that passed through Parkhead gates”, well all the great Hibs players, including a ball boy who became a true son of Ireland, walked under the main entrance Harp which was surrounded by clusters of shamrocks to sign, train and play for them.

Unfortunately they sold their souls to residents of Rosslyn Chapel. No better than their calvinist neighburs.

Lenny no longer at Celtic, so no sympathy from me (even though I love the Bhoy)

*Fully concur here, that’s how I feel about any player or official that leaves the club including Jock and MON.

  3. Just looking at the Hibs team last night. I see Lenny dropped Barker, the guy that caused us problems last week. He brought him off the bench and he hit the post twice. A strange one.

  4. Ha Ha Ha brilliant.

I fully agree with you. I’ve been getting it in the neck from my mates for years because of that opinion.

    KEEP THE FAITH

  7. Thetimreaper,

Lenny was interviewed before the game and said that Barker had taken a knock at the weekend and wasn’t expected to last 90 minutes, hence his starting from the bench.

    ——-

Nah, if I was clutching I would have mentioned that we tired Hibs out for them, the dodgy penalty they got and two offside goals against Aberdeen, all after a unsettling them. The stonewall penalty denied to Hibs last night and to Ross County at the weekend.

  11. Bada Bing

Re your post earlier on…That seems a logical explanation regards the letter.

But if so, why didn’t they just leave it at the bit that says if u want to talk to us at the ticket office u need to bring ID?

If your post is the real reason the club have made a bit of a ham fisted attempt at explaining it

  13. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

The Tim Reaper, Brandon Barker was an injury doubt for Hibs last night . He came on as a sub , hitting the sevco post , twice.

Easter Road as well as Tynecastle, are the two grounds my pals and I have had the most hassle at in Scotland . Hibs or Hibernation as I used to call them as they hibernated each season , are no friends of Celtic. Look at the number of Hibs players that have ended up at Ibrox over the last 50 years.

Another good win for us last night . Hearts will probably revert to type under Levein on Sunday. The same level of leniency shown to the Hibs players last Sunday will be repeated at Tynecastle.

  14. Fairhill Bhoy,

oops can you see my posts,

sorry a man with impeccable music tastes,

  16. Goooood Evening CQN

Tontine Tim – thanks for that response

Current situation, Petrie us no friend of Celtic, or truth and justice

    Hen1rik – 100% FtSFA

Point 6, should also be added to

    7) let’s start with Petrie and secretive 5 way agreement – where no other club in SPL was involved outwith an old deceased club

    8) improperly registered players is ok for one club only – Bryson still not challenged on that one

    9) a director of a new club also holds shares in another premiership club – is that not against their rules ? Anything done ?

    Let’s start a list :-))

  17. Just catching up. My paternal great grandmother was Ann Diver ( note no S). In Donegal it was pronounced Divver.

*they also had an ex-hun manager fae the Drum that changed their 2nd strip and training equipment tae purple.

    Shhhhhh – don’t tell anyone

I had the pleasure of our friend Marsp’s company at the football last night

Not sure he enjoyed it though :-)))

Is purple not the Papal colours :-)) along with yellow

Sure that’s the reason Cowie Bowlers played in those colours

And when they sponsored the amateur team in the village

  21. Celtic By Numbers

Great contribution as always. SS frustrates me as he always looks as though he has the ability to do even better than he does. He also gets into great positions and is more wasteful than he should be.

However I watched him closely last night. On numerous occasions he made good runs which weren’t spotted, all of which had him in space behind the defender and most of which would probably have gone unnoticed by the support.

It would be interesting to see how much ground he covered in comparison to the rest of the team if that info is available.

Is purple not the Papal colours :-)) along with yellow

*aren’t purple and green among the highest colours in the tangerine ludge.

  23. Papal flag is yellow and white

Strangely I still have a yellow and white papal umbrella from the pope John Paul’s Scottish visit in 1982 – I had the honour of collecting a priest at the Altar in Bellahouston mass and distributing communion. ( was also at murrayfield mass)

    Now

Colors serve to identify different levels in the church, and the color schemes also maintain consistency throughout the year for the many congregations from Paris, France, to Paris, Texas (i.e. purple used in Lent and Advent).

Color coding was not always as prevalent.

“Early on, church clothing was not so different from the dress of the people,” said Schreck. The monks decided to wear drab brown and gray garments to show that they had chosen a life of devotion to prayer and penance.

“After this, some of the clergy began to see the value of differentiating themselves and adopted special clothing for identification purposes during the fourth century,” he said.

So what do the colors mean?

White or Gold: Worn during Christmas and Easter, symbolizing the birth and resurrection of Jesus Christ. These colors are also worn during funerals because they symbolize life rather than mourning. These are the pope’s colors since the pope is the closest representative of Christ in his glory.

Red: The color of blood and, therefore, of martyrdom. Worn on the feasts of martyrs as well as Palm Sunday, Pentecost, Good Friday and celebrations of Jesus Christ’s passion.

“The pope currently dons a crimson outer-garment because it expresses the church’s belief — like the martyrs — that he is a witness of the faith,” said Stephen Miles, assistant professor of theology at Loyola College in Maryland.

The cardinals wear red because they are considered the closest advisers to the pope and therefore should be ready to shed their blood for the church and Christ.

Purple: Worn during the Advent and Lent seasons, purple reflects sorrow and suffering. Sorrow as the faithful await the arrival of the Savior and suffering to mark Jesus Christ’s 40 days in the desert (Lent). The color also came to symbolize wealth, power and royalty because in antiquity purple dye was very expensive.

Pink: A special color worn only twice during the liturgical year. It represents a time of joy amid a period of penance and prayer.

Green: The default color for vestments representing hope of Christ’s resurrection.

Blue: Symbol of the Virgin Mary. Usually worn on Mary’s Feast day.

Black: Used in Masses for the dead as a sign of mourning. It is the color of clerical garb in everyday life.

Sorry meant to add, and reason for quoting the umbrella

Sponsored by Kwik Fit, through Sir Tom Farmer – Hibs :-))

I believe he personally funded a large part of this Papal visit
