SINCLAIR REJECTS MOVE REPORT

CELTIC outcast Scott Sinclair has rejected a move to the MLS, according to a media report.

The 30-year-old Hoops winger has played only SIXTY-SIX minutes of competitive first-team football this season – as CQN reported at the weekend – and has not been involved in any of Neil Lennon’s last three 18-man squads.

Sinclair cost £4.5million when he arrived from Aston Villa in August 2016 as one of Brendan Rodgers’ first buys and made a dream debut when he came on as a second-half substitute and scored the winning goal against Hearts at Tynecastle 24 hours after signing.

He completed his debut campaign by hammering in a hat-trick against the Edinburgh club in the 5-0 victory in the capital to seal the sixth successive title on the way to Celtic’s historic treble treble season.

The former Chelsea, Swansea City and Manchester City raider netted 61 goals in his first three campaigns at Parkhead and is now in the last 12 months of his contract.

There appears to be no future for the Englishman at the champions and it looked as though he may be on his way before the Premier League and Championship transfer deadline earlier this month when newly-promoted Sheffield United and Championship sides Derby County and Middlesbrough were linked with a £2million swoop.

That came and went with Sinclair still at the club and his chances of a return across the border have gone until the January window opens again.

There was the possibility of resurrecting his career in the MLS, the Daily Mail understands in a recent report, but Sinclair elected not to relocate to the United States for family reasons.

The left-sided attacker has started only one game in the new campaign and that was the goalless friendly against French Cup winners Rennes in Glasgow last month.

His only goal this term has come in the Champions League qualifier against FK Sarajevo when he scored with a cheeky back-heeler in the 3-1 win in Croatia on July 9.

He has made four substitute appearances and is highly unlikely to feature at any point in tomorrow night’s Europa League second leg play-off against AIK Stockholm in Sweden or the Glasgow derby at Ibrox on Sunday.

Sinclair scored Celtic’s winner in his first game in Govan on Hogmanay 2016, but the nearest he will almost certainly get to the pitch on this occasion will be a seat in the stand.

Lennon has overlooked the flanker’s claims this time around as he has concentrated on developing MIkey Johnston and Lewis Morgan while Jonny Hayes also looks ahead of Sinclair in the pecking order.

Marion Shved, the Ukrainian wide-man who was signed for £2million in January is also pushing his claims.

It has been stressed Sinclair is NOT agitating for a move and still believes he has something to contribute at the Hoops.
