Sine die Murray for Rangers lying and cheating

953

“The appeal is dismissed.” With those words at the Supreme Court in London at 9:52 this morning, Rangers tax cheating was established as fact. The charlatans who manipulated Scottish football fans were shown to be the disgrace they are.

Rangers made unlawful payments, totalling many millions of pounds, to footballers, who, by the club’s own admission in court, they would have been unable to recruit if they had to pay tax and National Insurance contributions for.

They lied to HMRC.

They also hid documents from HMRC, which only came to light during a City of London Police raid on Ibrox.

They hid documents from the SPL and SFA, failing to honestly register dozens of players.

They cheated the tax man.

They cheated the welfare state, the NHS, the police, councils, schools. They cheated the Army and other services.

The SPL’s (now called Scottish Professional Football League) Commission into these matters must now be set aside. It was conducted on the assumption that Rangers acted legally. Lord Nimmo Smith was clear that his conclusions were predicated on this point.  A fresh commission is required, we cannot just allow the biggest cheats in British sporting history wander off into the distance.

The SFA has failed to call Sir David Murray to account, or the other directors of Rangers, who had explicit responsibility to ensure the club acted within the laws of the land and within the rules of football, both of which it failed to do.

Murray should be sine died. God knows, I cherish every moment Dave King controls things at Ibrox, but he was a director of Rangers with legal responsibility for its actions. They should all be censured.

  1. BOBBY MURDOCH'S CURLED-UP WINKLEPICKERS on

Large portions of jelly and ice cream all round,I reckon.

I also reckon this all started when Souness arrived, then Murray.

Open secret that footballers in certain countries were paid slightly differently from your man in the street. In fact,Irving Scholar did the same for his Spurs stars in the 80s.

World in Action and The People exposed that.

Why would such as Wilkins and Francis come back to the UK from lax jurisdictions to join Rangers?

Why would Hateley leave the sun-drenched paradise of tax-free Monaco?

Not kidding, this goes back further than Murray’s ill-advised interview in the Record in 2000 where he literally showed a de Boer contract to prove he was “playing for petrol money”

Naw,I don’t want their tainted titles either, happy to settle for an asterisk.

But if we can prove any were stolen from TOMMY BURNS,I’ll have it.

Btw,Paul Gascoigne interview on Talksport about ten years ago,he said he had over £2m in an offshore account so he’d be fine.

I wonder where that came from?

    a) SFA will do SFA

    b) SPFL will do SFA

Sadly,I fear that your post is the most accurate today. The only entity which can change this is Celtic FC.

Lads seriously, I think we should give Celtic every opportunity to act in the first instance. This kind of attitude does not help. All of our energies should be directed at Celtic. Tell them you want action.

Time for Peter to show what he is all about.

    Time Peter opened his mouth.

    Yes indeed, lets hear it.

  10. Celtic should head a coalition of all clubs cheated in Scottish Football e.g. losing finalists and clubs relegated over this period.

Clean out the governing bodies and remove trophies “won”.

Make no mistake, every club’s fans would be on board.

    Okay, maybe not Kilmarnock.

But they have pissed off everybody at some point in last 15 years.

The statement from Sir David Murray perhaps reveals something that may have been troubling him for some time.

He is correct that the judgement does not mention any criminal activity – but t wouldn’t as it is a decision based on an interpretation of the relevant tax laws and the intention behind that law.

It does say however that this was an aggressive tax scheme and that the players etc were prepared to accept considerable risk at various stages of the scheme.

The absolute joy of watching Huns self implode over the last few years is a bitter sweet experience for me and I suspect many fellow CQN posters..

Many of us take to these pages to share our grief and mourning…the bitterness for me comes from the tragedy that both my father and grandfather lived through decades of Hun cheating but were denied the joy of the last 5 years of reckoning. For that reason I intend to enjoy it for them.

Murray as usual, pointing the finger elsewhere with his statement emphasising the liquidation process started in Whyte’s watch.

I never thought I could dislike any person more than Thatcher or Tebbit , but Murray has now caught up with them.

I would love him to do jail time but that will never happen as if charged with any criminal offence he will develope an Ernest Saunders like health condition . I would be satisfied with him losing his knighhood but this too is unlikely to happen.

  29. Ok it is a glorious morning, The entire country should be wanting those titles stripped not just Celtic, after all who is to say that Aberdeen or Hearts would not have went further and performed better in every competition if they hadn’t been put out by a team of stars that were playing illegally as the money used to purchase the was sourced illegally? Ok Celtic always finished a point or two behind Rangers in those so called 9 in a row days however there were loads of clubs in Scotland and also Europe who were being defeated by this illegal team. So lets broaden the scope here and involve those European clubs as well in this valid claim for TITLE STRIPPING. Lets wake up Europe and UEFA to this DISGUSTING CORRUPTION THAT IS FESTERING AWAY LIKE A BIGOTED SECTARIAN VIRUS WITHIN THE SCOTTISH GAME AND BRINGING IT TO ITS KNEES ON AND OFF THE FIELD. LETS ALL VENT OUR SENTIMENTS ON THE RADIO AND ON THE SOCIAL MEDIA, WRITE TO THE PRESS TELLING THEM YOUR GOING TO BOYCOTT THEIR RAGS IF THEY DON’T HIGHLIGHT THIS FRAUD AND LETS GET RID OF THOSE STOLEN TARNISHED TITLES AND THIS CORRUPTION ONE AND FOR ALL. It was acknowledged at the Whyte trial that the football authorities knew of two Murray schemes, the EBT one they lost on today and another that he ran from the start – the one that allowed that human bag of loyalist excrement who kept goal for them 25 years ago to claim in court he was scraping by on his basic wage that was less than his Celtic counterpart. The details of that scheme, or scam, for short, have yet to come out.
